Mish Mash Challenge Week 10 - Triangles!

Nothing to Disclose

Hello Lovelies! I have finally made it back to post! I've been having a very hard time posting this week since my littlest has decided that I shouldn't be able to do anything save for chasing him around in an attempt to stop him from destroying the house. I'll sit down to post and he will immediately run up and start yanking on me and screaming and crying. It's very tedious, and I really hope this phase ends soon. I haven't even been able to clean, since he finds that unacceptable as well. It looks like I'm going to have to start writing my posts at night and scheduling them for the mornings, even though when I do that, they never seem to actually post. Ahhhh Blogger problems!

Today I have this week's Mish Mash Challenge mani to share with you all. I've been dying to get this posted since I love the design. This week's theme is Triangles, and although I had some much more intricate designs in my head, lack of time led me back to stamping. I'm fully okay with  that though, since stamping is my very fave type of nail art and I'm falling in love with it all over again.

For this manicure I chose Sinful Colors Cotton Candy, a pink creme with subtle silvery shimmer, as my base color. Because I didn't want to stick with just one straight color, I added a gradient using Sinful Colors Outrages, a bright raspberry pink. Then I grabbed my trusty DRK-A plate from Dashica beauty and used Konad Black to stamp on this ultra-cool geometric pattern that includes lots of funky triangles. My only complaint is that my Konad Black is close to empty, and I had to thin it down to make it usable. This led to some streaking when I went to top coat, but it's not really obvious IRL. If Dex permits, I'll be ordering more Konad black today.

Man, I love gradients and stamping! The smearing from my poor old Konad black makes me cringe, but since I know it's just from thinning it down, I can live with it. I'm also so very in love with Dashica's Big stamping plates. I really need to order a couple more of those. I swear they're the best stamping plates around.

I also really love the polishes I used here. Cotton Candy was a dream to work with, and although Outrages is more of a crelly, it still works well for a gradient. Plus, how long has it been since I've done a gradient mani? Feels like ages!

What do you think of my Triangle Mani? Be sure to check out all the Mish Mash challengers and their Triangle nails!

I'll be back (Dexter willing!) tomorrow with some Lac Attack and more Indie swatches. I'm slowly but surely catching up! I also have some cool nail art supplies from Born Pretty Store to share, so watch for those.

Thanks for stopping by and Happy Polishing!
-Kimber

NPR: Savory Scents Candles

Morning Lovelies! I'm starting to feel a bit better today, although not enough to function all that well. Some improvement is certainly better than none though, so I'll take it!

Today I have a Non-Polish Related post! I know, you never thought you'd see the day, right? Haha! Well, although this is a polish blog, every once in awhile there is a product that I love enough to share here. This one happens to be one that I know alot of us polish fanatics enjoy!

Candles. I love Candles. I love sitting and releaxing by candlelight, I love the smell of a freshly lit candle, and I love being able to walk into any room in my home and smell the secent of my choice drifting through the air. I've loved candles since I was in my teens, and to this day they are my chosen way of scenting my house. However, I am also VERY picky when it comes to candles. I want a candle that is long lasting, smells fabulous, yet isn't too strong or perfumy but still fills my home with scent. I've found a few brands that do this, but I end up spending a small fortune on just a few candles. I'm also a big fan of unique scents, and I want to be able to buy them year round.

A few weeks ago I was contacted by Crystal, the mastermind and creative genius behind Savory Scents, an Indie Candle maker on Etsy. Since I obviously adore candles, I jumped at the chance to try these out. I received 2 candles, Pumpkin Souffle and Cotton Candy (2 of the scents that immediately jumped out at me!) to try out.

Both candles came in adorable 4oz tins, which I love! As you can see, I didn't wait to try these out!

Pumpkin Souffle:

Pumpkin Souffle is a rich pumpkin scent blended with fresh nutmeg, cinnamon, creamy caramel and toasted vanilla. I could smell the pumpkin scent the second this candle started to burn, and within minutes my entire house smelled like a freshly baked pumpkin pie! I could even smell it on the opposite end of my house! Yum! Despite the scent being strong enough to reach every room, it's not a heavy, perfum-y scent. It's still light and delicate.  I've burned this candle often over the last 2 weeks and it still has a ton left. Impressive since these candles do liquify almost entirely while burning. I don't know about you, but this is how I prefer my candles to burn - it means I'm getting a good amount of scent as opposed to just burning wick.

Cotton Candy:

Cotton Candy is sugary strawberry and sweet vanilla notes in candle form. It smells exactly like cotton candy and is perfect for days when I want something very light but still sweet. Just like Pumpkin Souffle, I could smell this throughout the house, yet it wasn't overbearing or perfum-y, and the sweet scent wasn't so sweet that I couldn't tolerate it. I have burned this candle the most, and still have a good 3/4 of the 4oz tin remaining. It really is lovely!

I am so in love with these candles and quite honestly, I will be ordering more. It's rare that I am this happy with a candle, nonetheless two of them! Usually I'll find one I like, but the second will be a dud. Not this time. These both rocked my socks! Between the fabulous tin, amazing scents and incredible longevity of these candles? Well, let's say I do believe I have found my go to place for candles.

And of course, I have one of them burning while I'm polishing, so this is slightly polish related! ;)
