How I do my eyebrows: A step-by-step picture tutorial.

I have been asked numerous times how I fill in my brows so I figured I'd do a step-by-step picture tutorial to show you what I do!  Brows make such a huge difference on a face, good brows make everything look clean and neat and finished.  Seriously, take a look.

So onto the tutorial!

What you will need:

1. A brow pencil (I use Anastasia Beverly Hills Perfect Brow Pencil)

2. A cream liner (I use ELF studio liner)

3. A brow powder, preferably a duo (I use Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Powder Duo)

Extras you can use, which I like to:

A white, or very light, cream liner (I use NYX Jumbo Eye Pencil in "Milk")

Highlight color of your choosing

My brow with nothing on it

Fill brows in with pencil.

Here's what they look like when I've finished filling them in with the pencil.

Grab an angled liner brush and your cream liner

Follow the bottom of your brows with the cream liner, creating as much or as little of an arch as you want

After using cream liner (sorry it's fuzzy, apparently I didn't get a clear picture of this), you can see where I placed the liner

Grab a clean angled liner brush and your brow powder duo

Fill brows in completely, covering the pencil and cream, blending everything together.  I use the lighter color toward the inside of my brow and the darker color on the outside.

Once that's done

Now, you can stop there if you want, but to make it a little more crisp, I like to do this next step.

Grab a concealer brush and your NYX Jumbo Eye Pencil (which I have depotted)

Draw a line under your brow

Blend it out with your finger and add your highlight color.

You're all finished!!

I hope that helps someone out there with measly little brows like I have naturally!  I put this together, too as a place to have all of the steps in one picture if that's helpful!

Anastasia Brow Powder and Eye Brow Tutorial

In Sweden Anastasia is a pretty small, unknown brand, but as I understand it it is HUGE in the USA. I've heard it been labeled the #1 eyebrow brand in the world and having tried out their products I am not surprised.

When choosing one of the Anastasia brow powder shadows, keep in mind that the colors look way lighter in the packaging and when you try them out on the back of your hand (as most people do when shopping for makeup) than they will do on your brows. Instead, try them out on a piece of paper tissue to bring out their full intensity!

These products consists of a light/dark duet of shadows and for many people the first question that pops up is: "Do I really need two eyebrow shadows?"
And the answer is YES! You do! One lighter to fill in the whole brow and a darker to define.

I have nothing negative to say about this product so this is definitely a 5/5!

Now, let's take a look at how to use this product.

Step 1. Mark out the start, highest point and end point of your brows. The face chart shows you exactly how to do this! The red lines are imaginary lines from your nose wing to the places where you should put the marks.

Step 2. Begin filling in the "tail" of the brow with the lighter of the shadows. To do so use a stiff, angled eyebrow brush.

Step 3. Fill in the rest of the brow, also with the lighter one of the two shades.

Step 4. Now it is time to add some definition. Again, fill in the tail of your brow, this time using the darker one of the shadows. Work with short strokes and "blend" it in with the lighter shade.

Step 5. Place some concealer or cream highlighter underneath the brow. Blend out.

Step 6. Set the highlight with an eyeshadow close to your skin tone or lighter. Concentrate the highlighter right underneath the curve of the brow, at the browbone's highest peak.

There you go! Now you have good looking brows! (Hopefully...) :)

Eyebrow news!

Those of you who follow me on Twitter already now that I have been tempted to grow back my eyebrows. I assure you, it has nothing to do with the no-eyebrows-bullying that has been going on every time Sugarpill posts one of my looks at their Facebook page. Frankly, what those narrow-minded people think doesn't affect me at all.

A while ago, I attended an education session on the brand Anastasia Beverly Hills which is famous for their greater than great eyebrow products. I got very inspired by this, and became very tempted to let my eyebrows grow out again, so that I can try out their products properly. And why not give it a try? After all, if I don't want the eyebrows anymore it takes about half a minute shaving them off again. ;)

Hello makeup-lovers and fellow spooks! :)

Today I'm doing the long-awaited eyebrow tutorial. Yay! I'm also going to show you the makeup I'm wearing today, but it's very simple so I didn't do a tutorial on that. :)

This is another version of the Lestat look that I posted last week. A little darker and more of a classic vampire look. :) The eyeshadow I've used is Bitten by Makeup Geek, which is a very pretty, matte burgundy red. 

As a base I've used the lip pencil Jazz by Make Up Store, which is a dark reddish purple. The Make Up Store pencils are great because they can be used as both eye and lip pencils. :) I often find their lip pencils to be quite "hard" though, and then it helps to warm it up a bit by holding it in your hand for a while before applying, and wait a few minutes before blending it. 

I must confess that this will is truly my new favorite look, which I will probably wear as my new  everyday look (yes, I'm wearing this much makeup everyday :P...). 

So, let's get to the tutorial! 

Step 1. I usually put on my eye makeup first, then the foundation, concealer and powder. This will provide a good base for the eyebrows. If your prone on doing mistakes, though, I would advice you to powder your face after doing the eyebrows, since it will be easier to correct any mistakes. 

Step 2. Use a sharp, hard white eyeliner pencil. You can use a black one but the white will be easier to remove if you make mistakes. Draw the first dot where you want your eyebrows to start, the second one where the brow reaches its highest peak and the third one where you want your eyebrow to end. 

Now, there are a lot of advice on where you should put these dots. 

Dot #1

The most common is that you should use your nose wing as a reference point and put the first dot on an imaginary line extending upwards from it. Personally I think it is a bad idea to trust this advice blindly, since different people have different width on their noses. Instead, use the inner corner of your eye as a reference point and put the first dot above it. 

Dot #2

Look straight forward. Imagine a line extending upwards from the outer corner of your iris. Put the dot on this line, higher up than the first dot. 

Dot #3

When drawing this dot I usually don't have any reference point but I usually put it in the same height as the first dot. 

Step 3. Now, pick up a sharp, angled brush and draw a line from dot #2 to dot #3. Doing this, I'm using a matte black eyeshadow, but you can, of course, use any color you want.

Step 4. Starting at dot #1 draw a line up to dot #2. I like to make this line somewhat curved. 

Step 5. Draw a little "mark", like that on the picture. 

Step 6. Now it's time to fill in the brows. Pick up some more eyeshadow, tap the brush off, and start drawing "outwards, that is from dot #1 towards dot #3. The only way to learn this step is by practice! ;)
