Luminous prom look

Hello everybody!

Here's another one of my prom makeup tutorial using the amazing loose eyeshadow "Lumi" by Sugarpill. So what's so amazing about this eyeshadow? In the packaging it looks just like a glittery blueish-greenish white powder, somewhat like a shimmer you might find on the dress of a Barbie-doll. If you apply it dry it will look just as it does in the packaging. The magic occurs when you put it over a black base. Then, the white powder transforms to a gorgeous shimmery turquoise that a teal-loving freak as myself could never resist. :)

I've contoured my cheekbones with a powder that is about three shades darker than my skin and then applied a little bit of blush onto the back of the apples of my cheeks, blending it into the contour.

Step 1. Prime your eyes with a good primer. I've used the eyelid primer from e.l.f. because it normally works well but when I do a black smokey eye I find that the Urban Decay Primer Potion works a lot better. Since we are going to use dark colors I prefer to put on the base afterwards. (And in case anyone was wondering, yes it is the same Step 1. picture as in the previous tutorial :P ).

Step 2. Fill in your upper and lower waterline and the outer part of your lid with a soft, black eyeliner pencil. I have used Smolder by M.A.C. Blend it outwards and upwards to create the perfect smokey base.

Step 3. Apply NYX Jumbo Pencil in Milk in the inner corner and blend it out, into the black, by patting it gently with your finger. In and above your crease, apply a dark gray (I've used Knight divine by M.A.C.). If you don't have a dark gray you can simply use a black, just tap off the excess from your brush and wipe it of gently to reduce the color payoff. :)

Step 4. In the inner corner, apply a matte white as a highlight. On the outer part of the lid, apply a matte black to set the eyeliner pencil and make it look even blacker. Blend it upwards into the crease. Don't apply any black to the middle of your lid, since we want it sticky for Step 5. ;)

Step 5. Pick up some of the loose eyeshadow Lumi by Sugarpill on a flat shader brush. Press it onto the middle of your lid and blend it out. Pick up some more Lumi and tap off the excess gently. Then pat the eyeshadow carefully on the rest of the  lid all the way up to your eyebrow to get a luminous shimmer.

Step 6. Fill in your eyebrows with a color matching your natural brow color. Line your upper lash line with a black gel eyeliner, trying to get it in between your lashes so that no skin shows through.

Step 7. Apply mascara and a pair of false eyelashes.

Step 8. Any nude, light pink lipcolor will work great with this eye-look but since I love the dark and dramatic I've chosen a dark burgundy lipstick. It is Black dawn by MakeUpStore.

So that's all for this tutorial! I hope that it was helpful and that some of you out there might find any inspiration from it. :)

I will do a more wearable prom look soon, that will suit those of you who don't wear that much/dramatic makeup everyday.

Have a lovely day everybody and hope to see you soon! :D
