Nabi Magnetic Nail Polish in Tawny

Hi ladies! Hope you all are having an awesome Monday, and for those of you in the U.S., a fabulous Memorial Day!

Today I am sharing a magnetic polish that I have been dying to play with, for no other reason than the color. A few weeks back, I cam across a display of Nabi Magnetic Polish at Walgreens, and snatched up a good 6 of them since the colors were really awesome. The first one that caught my eye was Tawny, which isn't what I would call Tawny at all, but a magnificent Candy Apple Red. This color is stunning! My pictures don't capture the vibrance of this red (reds are always so hard to capture!), but trust me when I say this is one of the most beautiful reds I have ever seen. It's such a deep, yet vibrant candy apple color. Gorgeous!

The magnetic effect wasn't that bad either. Not as good as the CG Magnetix, but pretty quick to show and it didn't fuzz out with top coat. My biggest complaint about this one, as with all magnetic polishes, is the the magnetic effect only shows in the center of my nail. I have a very pronounced C Curve, and the magnets just aren't strong enough to pull on the sides of my nail. Sad, but the effect actually looks kinda cool IRL. In Macro shots, it just looks odd, but we all know that IRL things are much less harsh.

Details:
1 coat OPI Nail Envy Matte
1 coat Instant Artficials Base Coat
2 coats Nabi Magnetic "Tawny"
1 coat Seche Vite

I really wish I was able to truly capture this color. It's one of my fave reds! If it wasn't so problematic I might wear it often!

Formula:
I had some serious issues with this one. Very thick and gloppy from the get go. Even with thinner it still glopped up quickly. I ended up adding thinner to this 3 different times, and it was still a mess. Between the extreme thick/gloppy nature of this baby and the quick dry time, this leaves much to be desired. This polish also has a very odd smell. Very sickly sweet. Thankfully it has worn off my nails, but during application it was overwhelming. I've never used a polish that smells like this one. Very icky.

Application:
What a PITA! This polish virtually glopped itself onto the nail and immediately started to dry. I had to work very fast and use much thicker coats than usual to get it to even out. Even then, it was still pretty goopy and messy. A good coat of Seche Vite thankfully smoothed this girl out, but I was very frustrated with this one. I doubt I will be wearing it again anytime soon due to the horrible application and formula. I do plan on playing with the other colors in this line so hopefully it's just this bottle. Pretty sad though since this color is just to die for.

You can find Nabi Magnetic Polish at Walgreens. I think I paid around $4.00 for these. They do have a wide range of very awesome colors, including some foils and what looks like cremes! The creme looking polishes are all nudes/taupey pinks, so I didn't grab any. I did grab one of the foils, and it's pretty neat. If you have the patience to deal with the really gloppy formula and rough application, these are fun polishes. I would suggest a mask for the smell though.

Hope you're all enjoying your day and thanks for stopping by!

Happy Polishing!
