What??? A neutral look?

I decided to rock a bright pink shirt today and whenever I do that, I feel like I need to do something a little more neutral with my makeup so here's what I did today!

I used the Inglot pigment 68, a brown from the ELF "Bright eyes" edition, Inglot 414 (pearl dark green), MAC "Melon" pigment and Inglot 395 (highlight).  I actually really like it.  I think I may be sick or something because I *gasp* want to wear neutral colors more!  I know, right?  Haha.  So that's my super exciting look for today.  I hope you all have a great weekend!

My New Job Kicks My Old Jobs Ass!!

Have a look at what I did at work today!! This is what happens when you have a shop full of gorgeous girlies and a big bag of makeup haha.

I really don't know why I uhmm'd and ahhh'd about my career change for sooooo long...I TOTALLY LOVE MY NEW JOB!!

This is Claire, one of the stylists at the salon where I work. When she volunteered to let me do a look on her I don't think she quite knew what she was letting herself in for aha...

I wanted to do something quite bright and dramatic for Claire as she never really wears a lot of makeup....

Claire's hair was styled by the very talented and very lovely salon owner Susan...

...her hair's actually really straight so it was curled around a tail comb and set with heat to make tiny little curls that were then back combed and scraped up to give it some height.

This is the gorgeous Ashleigh! She just screams Vargas Girl to me...what about you?

Her features are perfect for the vintage pinup look, and I've been itching to do this on her since we met...

Ashleigh's hair up was styled by Claire. I wanted some vintage rolls so Claire worked her magic...

...then after some shots we decided to change it a bit. We took part of it down and Ash put some waves in it.

Gorgeous!! I absolutely LOVE the hair!!

So there you have it!! My fab day at work. I'll have to post some of the nails I've done recently too. Hope you like the looks :D

Speak soon xx

PINK EYE!!

Based on the WAH Nails eyeball design!

Four years ago I married my best friend!

I am lucky enough to say that yesterday was my four year wedding anniversary.  I married a great man and we really have something so special together.  So in honor of that, I'm going to show you just a couple pictures of us from our wedding.

haha like his hat?  I gave it to him to wear to the reception.  He never went anywhere without a hat so I figured since I was marrying him for who he was, he should wear a hat at our reception.
And here we are today

I could not decide what kind of makeup to do for my anniversary!  Do I do something simple?  Do I do something sexy?  Do I do something like what I did on our wedding day (which who knows what that was haha).  So I grabbed the list of suggestions from my beautiful followers (yes, I have them all written down on a list in my bathroom) and looked it over.  I didn't want to do anything too crazy and then I saw Lindsey0901's suggestion of flowers.  I think flowers are a great inspiration, there's so many beautiful color combos in flowers and so, what better to do on my anniversary than a flower I had in my bouquet.  What flower is this you ask?  Why, it's a blue hydrangea.  I love them.  They make me happy.

Aren't they gorgeous?  I just think they 're so pretty!  I had blue hydrangeas but they come in purple, white, green, and pink.  And even within the blues, there are a ton of color variations.  Some are more purple, some are more green, some have a lot of white, some have none.  So here is what I came up with based these beautiful flowers.

I know I could have taken this more extreme but I wanted it to be a little softer.  When I saw my hubby, I told him to guess what my makeup was based on and I gave him the hint "it has something to do with our wedding" and he got it right away.
The colors I used are:
Inglot 388 (matte blue/purple), 351 (matte light off white color) and 395 (highlight and on top of 351).  I also used a baby blue and navy color from my 88 palette.

So that was my anniversary look!   My father-in-law just bought a house so while he and my hubby are moving boxes, I'm going to go clean his carpets.  So this shall be a fun filled day haha.  I hope you guys have a great day and I thank you so much for your support!

LILAC LEOPARD

Spring colours

My look for the Makeup Geek weekly challenge. The challenge was to use pink, lavender and aqua makeup. This is how it ended up:

First, I primed my lids with a light foundation from the Danish Nilens Jord Perfect Look Foundation no. 581. Then I applied Bare Minerals eyeshadow in chenille to the entire lid up to the brow bone. Then I filled in my brows with Gosh Eyebrow pencil in 01 brown and brushed them with a bit of hairspray on a brow brush. Going on to the colours, I began with pressing in a light, shimmery aqua colour from Art Deco with a wet pencil brush. I stuck to the inner three quarters of the lid and in the teardot going a little into the lower lashline. In the outer third I apllyed a cream shadow in a pretty lavender shade from Shiseido going up in the crease and feathered outwards in a triangular shape from the outer corner of the eye and upward. In the middle of the lid, between the aqua and the lavender I went in with a strong pink rouge colour from Fraulein budget rouge palette and pressed it on with a stiff flat brush before I smudged it into the lavender and slightly upwards to blend out the crease. I then smudged an Art Deco kohl on to the lower lashline in the colour no. 72 (aqua) and then I applied liquid eyeliner to the upper lashline and outward in a pointed shape. Finally I applied falsies and mascara.

I did the face after makeup because I wanted to stay clear of makeup fall outs on my cheekbones. I primed my face with MAC prep+prime and used the same foundation as before, set with Maybeline mineral foundation in rose ivory. I contoured my cheekbones with a mineral bronzer from L'oreal and then highlighted the cheekbones with a soft rose    rouge from my rouge palette. Lips were defined with a neutral lipliner from gosh and filled in with a Nilens Jord lipgloss in a badydoll very light pink.

PATRIOTIC STEEZE

A wedding gown of perfection

How amazing can one woman look? Kate Middleton, now Catherine Dutchess of Cambridge is one of my favourite royal brides to date.

The V-neck compliments her beautiful neck and the lace is a very wonderful design. I am blown amay by the back of the dress, which shows of the McQueen signature tailoring skills of designer Sarah Burton and adds an element of surprise that catches the eye and underlines Kate's youth and confidence in adding a modern spice to the conservative rules of royal wedding gowns.

I am a true fan of the subtle brown smokey eye, that seems just a bit more fashion forward than the usual "blushing bride" makeup, and she is herself with those gorgeous dark eye makeup that we usually see her with.

I was surprised by her half up hairdo, but it is young and modern and it suits the dress since the top of it is lace and sheer, which makes it light and able to style with a hair down do.

When I was 15 and first caught sight of Alexander McQeens un-matchable talent, I swore that I would one day wear his design. I was in shock when he passed away, but fortunately Sarah Burton took over his label and continued to follow his visions of creativity, innovation, surprise element, wonderful craft skills, amazing materials, extraordinary looks and ambitions. I salute Kate for choosing Burton and thereby honoring Alexander's great work and his importance for British fashion.

Will and Kate

Well, today is wedding day.

I have yet to see the dress, but I will have my eyes open wide in the direction of my TV in a couple of hours when it's all happening. I hope that she will wow me, I hope she will be happy and I hope that people will stop comparing her to Diana. Even if it is meant as the greatest compliment it insinuates loss of love, hardship, trouble and tragic. She does not deserve that. But as I'm not very familiar with the British royal family, that is about all I can say about Kate.

But I look forward to see just a glipse more of their personalities, the way they will act today - the most important day of their life and I will comment on the dress, the hair and everything as soon as I can...

Congratulations

I done been a bad blogger

Haha, sorry.  That's a phrase I've heard here in North Carolina that I'd never heard before and it makes me giggle.  But I'm sorry that I haven't posted in a few days.  I've been really busy doing stuff around my house.  A friend of mine is coming down from NY this weekend so I've been touching up wall paint (which gets really messed up when you have a dog who crashes into walls haha) and trim paint and I painted my bedroom (and ceiling.  I swear painting ceilings is a form of torture).  So I've been busy and *gasp* haven't worn any makeup!!!  I figure there's not a whole heck of a lot of point when I'm just going to sweat and get paint splatters everywhere.

Last night, when I finally finished painting my bedroom, I NEEDED to do something with my makeup.  So what happens when a makeup addict doesn't wear any makeup for a few days and then gets her hands on stuff???  This happens haha:
Do you think I went a little overboard??

Haha I was just going to do something quick and simple and this happened.  Oh well haha.  It was quick but not so much a simple, wearable look that I initially was going for.

So anyhow, here's a more normal look for me.  I used Inglot shadows AMC 71 and 72.  And I just have to say that the AMC colors aren't my favorites.  I don't know what it is, but they're just not as nice to work with as the matte colors.  I wish I liked them more but I primarily stick with the matte and pearl shadows that I got from Inglot.  Love the colors, not so much the way they apply.  Anyways, here's what I did today (haha I wasn't feeling very photogenic today haha)

And here's my finished bedroom (I tried to get a picture where you could kinda see the bathroom too so you could see the colors together)
Now it just needs some wall decor haha.

So I do apologize for my lack of posts but I'll try to be a little better.  I'm so excited because my friend who's coming down will let me do whatever I want with her makeup so I get to practice on somebody who isn't me!!  Hooray!  Well I hope you guys have a great night!
