Hello Ladies!
Wow. It's been awhile since I have gone almost a week without a post, but I had a bit of an emergency and had to take some unexpected time off. Everything is settled again and it's time to catch up. I missed being here.
Today I have a mani featuring one of the amazing glitters from Orly's Flash Glam FX Collection to share with you. I love this entire collection, but managed to talk myself out of needing them all and only picked up 2. I literally have a good 500 untrieds at the moment, so I'm attempting to be good (this did NOT Stop me from picking up some Illamasqua the other day, but Illamasqua is a necessity, right? Right?).
I used Orly Flash Glam FX Glitter in Mermaid Tale as my base, and added the scale type pattern stamp from my Red Angel Plates in Konad Special Black over the top. I love mermaid tale manis, and I tend to really want to do them when I have nubbins, so it was time. This glitter really deserves its name. It's a very densely packed green to blue holographic microglitter and larger hex glitter. The color shift is amazing, but almost impossible to capture. My camera literally could not focus on more than 1 or 2 nails at a time. And it just flipped out when I tried to shoot in sunlight. Crazy!
I wore this mani for 5 days. Seriously. I loved it THAT much. And it held up for 5 days with not one chip and very minimal tip wear. But I personally believe that 3 coats of pure glitter is much like armor. :)
Details:
1 coat Poshe Base Coat
3 coats Orly Flash Glam FX Mermaid Tale
1 coat Gelous
1 coat SV
Konad Special Black
Additional Coat SV
These pics do this polish (and this mani for that manner) ZERO justice. My camera just would not cooperate. I swear I'm buying myself a new camera for Xmas!
<3. This is my very fave from this collection, and I have plans to show it over polish as well, since this mani was really just for the scale effect and doesn't show her true colors as well as I'd like.
Formula:
I found this to be fairly thick, but that worked very well for coverage. Worn over polish I needed a single coat and the glitter was evenly dispersed, no fishing required.
Application:
Again, this glitter is very thick, so it stayed right where I put it with no issues at all. I didn't have to go fishing for the larger Hex glitter at all. I used a coat of Gelous over her to smooth out the surface for stamping, but sometimes that isn't enough. It was absolutely fine with this little number! Despite being so densely packed, one thin coat of Gelous and a coat of SV did the trick. Over polish, it was fairly smooth with just one coat of SV. Dry time is fabulous over polish, but using multiple coats for full coverage requires a fast dry top coat unless you have a lot of time on your hands.
If you're a fan of glitters, you need this. Actually, you really need the entire collection. A few aren't totally unique, but are very much worth having. Mermaid Tale was one of the standouts for me, but mostly for color alone. The density of this girl was an added bonus.
I really missed you guys this past week and I'm glad to be back. I am so behind and am planning on spamming you guys a bit over the next week in order to catch up. I did manage to chip a corner off my middle nail, so I'm back down to short-shorties for awhile, but I'm ok with that since their shape is actually where I like it. I picked up a few polishes from an interesting new collection that I can't wait to share with you guys!
Thanks for stopping by, not forgetting about me, and as always...Happy Polishing!
