Hello Lovelies! Well, here I am. Late again. Honestly I don't mean to be late with posts, yet it still happens. I'm struggling this week. Sometimes reality hits me in the face and I have some rough moments. Those are the times when the fact that I *will* lose my mother to this Cancer is unavoidable. I've become fairly good at denying it, but sometimes I just can't bury that thought as deep as I usually can and it bubbles to the surface and consumes me. I'm ever cognizant of the fact that this could be my last Christmas with her. And even though my mother and I have had a strained relationship through the years, she is still my mother, and I love her. The thought of losing her is unbearable. I have a history of depression and anxiety, and it's threatening to take over now. I'm fighting to keep from withdrawing into myself. It isn't much fun.
Now, I have to say something here because I know that not all of you that come here know all of the facts. Although I know it's meant as a comfort and comes from the heart, I have to ask that people refrain from telling me that she will recover and live a long time. Only because that isn't true. She has stage 4 Lung Cancer. It is inoperable, incurable. There is zero chance of remission. I wish that wasn't so, but it's the truth.
I also have to skip the Mish Mash Challenge this week. I managed to whip up a book inspired mani, however I also managed to chip both middle nails within 24 hours of each other, and fixing them mussed up my mani. I don't have the time to redo it since I need to get swatches and a guest post done, so I'm just skipping it. I don't like missing challenges, but this is one time I have to say screw it. I'm still working on getting the giveaway going - trying to decide on the number of prizes and what goes where.
I do have another awesome polish from Love, Angeline to share with you today. This one is from the fall Deep In The Enchanted Forest Collection and is a surprise fave (I seem to be having a lot of those lately!) This pretty is called Fallen Bark, and is a milk chocolate brown creme. I've only recently begun to really love browns, so I was excited to try this one out. My stash is lacking in true brown polish, so this was a wonderful surprise! In fact, I think this is my first brown that isn't a glitter, and I only have one of those.
This is 2 coats of Fallen Bark, topped with HK Girl Top Coat. Please excuse my splotchiness - I get splotchy when it's cold out and the temp here is dropping fast!
Man, I just really love this color. It's such a lovely milk chocolate color that I really wanted to lick my nails, thinking they would taste like they look (Not so much, BTW!). I love dark, rich colors, and this is just a perfect fall polish.
Fallen Bark's formula is just spectacular. I had expected it to be thick, but it was actually thinner than I'm used to, yet not at all runny. No thickening up either. Just perfection! Application was so stellar that I was blabbering on about it all day. It literally smoothed onto the nail like soft butter with no balding, dragging or streaking. And it self-levels beautifully. It's super shiny, and the only reason I needed top coat was because I am ultra impatient and can't stand to wait longer than around 2 minutes for my nails to dry (so spoiled with quick dry top coats, I tell you!). Wear was excellent with zero signs of wear at 2 days! In the spirit of honesty, I do need to mention that this polish does leave behind some *temporary* - and that's the keyword here, folks - staining, but all it took to remove it was soap, water, and some light scrubbing with a nail brush for a few seconds. Nothing more than what I usually do after I remove my polish, which doesn't really count as staining in my book. If it worries you, just double up on your base coat and you should have no issues at all.
I had never really thought that Brown would look good on me, but I received a ton of compliments while wearing this polish. And the longer I wore it, the more I loved it. If you only buy one brown in your life, it should be Fallen Bark. Natosha offers this polish in both a creme finish as well as holo (I must have the holo version now!).
You can grab Fallen Bark for your very own at Love Angeline Polish on Big Cartel. The shop is currently closed since Natosha just had a beautiful baby boy and is catching up on orders, but will re-open soon, so make sure to bookmark the site. Full size polishes sell for $8 to $10 depending on finish. Love Angeline makes some of the most beautiful polishes in my stash, so I urge you to check out Love Angeline on Facebook and Instagram for swatch photos, re-stock info, and new releases.
