A quick thanks and stuff

Ladies, I just wanna say thank you for boosting my spirits the other day when  was down about blogging. Since I started the challenge with this group of ladies, I have been happier than ever about blogging, save for that day. I love blogging with you all, reading your blogs, and getting to know my new followers as well. In short, my blogger depression has lifted, and my sassy self is back! I'm very excited about some upcoming projects, and the upcoming challenge manis.

So thank you for all of your kind comments, emails, and reminding me that we all feel this way on occasion. You guys helped so much. You rock!

Also, I do want to say to some of the lurkers that have linked to my Lustre Shine Swatches:

(I normally hold my tongue but I've decided that just this once I'm going to talk about this stuff) Thank you for all the kind comments, and a big ole middle finger to those of you that decided to be catty. I would love to see you do better (from what I have seen there isn't much room to talk.). I posted those swatches (and I DO NOT swatch. Hence the quick and dirty 3 am swatch sessions and less than perfect result) because people were clamoring to see those. I wasn't aware that those posts were actually about the slight dings in my nails from my clumsiness, or the fact that I did not have daylight available. I thought I was doing something nice for the community by showing a collection that everyone was clamoring to see. I will still show swatches, but I will also say that if you don't like the way I swatch, the little "x" in the corner of the screen is pretty handy. And I welcome you to do it yourself instead of spending time being catty.  It's easy to talk trash but it's much harder to put yourself out there for the world to see and open yourself up to things like this. It's nail polish, people. And ya know what? I love polish as much as anyone out there, but Nail Polish is not  OMGBBQ SRS BIZNESS! And that's all I'm going to say.

So, are you still with me? Good! I have some very cool nail art projects coming up soon as well as swatches of Firefly, a twin post with one of my very fave bloggers, and the 31 Day Challenge. Thanks for sticking with me!

Thanks for stopping by, and as always, Happy Polishing!

Best Laid Plans, and upcoming Pink Polish-Fest!

Hi guys! Hope you're all enjoying your weekend! This is another one of my patented "I'm not dead, I'm just slacking" posts. :)

I had planned on posting a St. Patrick's Day Mani this weekend, but yesterday ended up being disastrous, not only on the nail polish front, but at home as well. My 10 year old was having a bad attitude day, and I ended up getting rather sick from eating a Pot Pie. Lovely, right? On top of that, I finally busted out my Milani 3D Holographic polish in Hi-Tech (the green one), and managed to smudge the ever-loving hell out of my mani as soon as I finished. I plan on touching it up a bit and trying to get some pics for you guys, since it really is a lovely little holo polish, but I make no promises, since I have a time consuming mani planned for tonight.  I will be posting one of my CG Magnetix this evening though, and that's kind of green, so it counts, right? Hehehe, I cheat.

This week I am planning on doing a kind of theme week; Pink Polish! I adore pink polish, but I rarely wear it anymore. I used to look forward to Pink Wednesdays in order to force myself to wear pink, but I have so many untrieds that I put that aside in favor of trying to make it through some of those. Yesterday I was going through my stash in preparation for a big reorganization, and realized I have so many gorgeous pinks that I haven't touched. So this week I am challenging myself to wear my pink polishes and create some cool manis. Feel free to join me if you love pink polish and don't wear it often! I'm very excited to bust out those pinks and do some nail art and layering!

Hopefully by the end of the month I will have Fantasy Fire to share as well! I'm a firm believer that you can't see enough of that polish! Laura and I both sent out our packages to each other a few days ago, so hopefully we will both have them within a week or so. I'm always nervous about shipping to the UK, since my mom sends packages to family over in Ipswich several times a year and constantly has issues. However, my mom is notorious for doing things the hard way, so it may be user error. ;) I can't wait for her to have her bottle of Twisted as well as Zoya flakies!

Happy Polishing (grab those pinks, ladies!)

Unexpected Hiatus

Hi guys! I'm still not dead, just had to take a shot, unexpected hiatus from online life. Christmas is a huge deal around here, between my kids and my large family out here, and I just had zero time to upload and edit, etc. Things should be back to normal tomorrow, since things have finally slowed down!

Also, as a side note, I have recently seen a bunch of disclaimers popping up, and I had to toss in a few words.  When I say I "edit" my pics, what I mean is that I crop them, and add my watermark. I don't "photoshop" them in anyway. There have been some snide comments floating around along the lines of "I don't photoshop like other bloggers, so I'm showing the product better than they are!", which I feel is petty. I don't think any of us really edit much out; I know some people that may edit out an unruly looking cuticle or cut, but they don't mess with anything that really reflects on the polish as a whole. Usually what you see is what you get: our application really is that neat, we really do use clean up to get rid of stray polish as opposed to "shopping" it all out, and our pics really do come out just as you see them. Most of us crop because noone wants to see my pile of laundry awaiting it's turn in the wash, or my dog scratching herself.  Watermarks are essential since pic theft is rampant in beauty blogging.

Also, in the spirit of honesty, I recently chopped all my nails down to nubbins since they were paper thin and damaged from buffing out stains. Yes, I got carried away, and my nails paid the price. Since they are literal nubbins, I am wearing a set of fakies for a few weeks until I have some free edge to work with. All the polish you will see is applied by me, same with nail art. I just had to have some canvas to work with since nubbins aren't all that for the kind of nail art I love. So, you'll see this length for a bit, then suddenly my nails will go back to being rather short. One of my goals is to grow them back to their former glory. I miss my length, and my natural nails were longer than these fakes a few months ago. And they were strong and healthy. I'll never resort to buffing out stains again - I'll go back to using my whitening paste instead. It worked better and didnt damage my nails!

Ok, I'm all truthed out! I'll be back tomorrow with some actual posts. I still have to post my last 2 holiday manis, and I'll be showing an old favorite of mine as well. I miss you guys! Hope all of you that celebrate had a wonderful Xmas.

Happy Polishing!

I'm not dead!

Hi guys! Just a quick post to let ya know I'm not abandoning my blog, I've just been sick. I started feeling a bit better, but then hubby ended up sick, so I've had both kiddos and a sick hubby to take care of for a couple days. Anyway, I'm feeling so much better now and posting shall resume as normal tonight!

Happy Polishing
