30 Days of Blue for Autism Awareness: Sinful Colors Cinderella

Hi guys! Hope you're all having an awesome Thursday! It's been a nutso few days here, but I'm muddling through it. Today was *gasp* *chokes* Sex Ed Day at my daughter's school, so I'm obviously a bit....what's the word? Completely lost and shocked at some of the questions my kiddo has asked! Shocked in a trying not to crack up while I answer kind of way. It is a huge reminder of just how fast she is growing up though. Some days I really do wish I could turn back the clock.

Today I have Sinful Colors Cinderella to share with you. I know you've probably seen this polish a zillion times since it is just so popular, but I've been waiting to wear it for some time now, and I can't keep it to myself, right? This polish is just so stunning. I am really loving Sinful's new releases and digging on all the gorgeous shimmer. Cinderella is obviously THE standout of their new releases, and with good reason!

Sinful Colors Cinderella is a fabulous soft blue crelly with amazing pink shimmer. I'm a sucker for a shimmery blue, but add pink and I am head over heels! Her shimmer isn't shy either! In person this polish just shines and that shimmer is all over the place! Love!!

Now *that* is a gorgeous polish! I can't believe I held out and didn't wear this baby sooner!

Formula wasn't too shabby, although she is VERY sheer. I used 3 pretty thick coats to reach the opacity you see here. I did manage to flood a cuticle, but that was more my own mistake. It's hard to polish while re-watching the season finale of Walking Dead! Otherwise I had no issues with this girl. Very nice, smooth formula, very little cleanup (although eek! I picked up a new clean up brush and I detest the thing! I also really need some cuticle remover! Look at that ick! Yikes!!), and besides....how can I complain about anything with a color this stunning??

In other news, I may not be able to post daily during parts of this challenge. My in-laws are coming to town this weekend and I have a feeling we are gonna be busy, busy, busy!! My in-laws are way awesome, though. I'm sure we're all gonna have a blast! It's also one of our busier seasons with the business, so I'm going to be pretty darn busy with that as well. I'm going to try to post daily, but I just can't make any guarantees. I will be posting every other day at the least, and of course, wearing nothing but blue until May 1.

Hope you all are having a great night!

Happy Polishing!

Sinful Colors Flutter

Hi guys! Hope you're all having a fabulous week!

Today I have Sinful Colors Flutter, from their new Girls in Pearls Collection. As I posted previously, I'm giving my pinks some love this week, and what better way to start off than with a gorgeous, baby pink with silvery shimmer! For this mani I used 2 coats of Flutter topped with SV.

First, in the lightbox:

And here she is in Natural Light. She looks a bit different, so I couldn't resist sharing a few shots.

I had forgotten just how much I love baby pink on my nails. This is a new polish for me, and I'm glad I chose to try her out first. There is just something about that silvery shimmer that I am loving these days!

Flutter is a lovely baby pink Crelly with loads of soft silver shimmer. Application was very impressive, with no issues other than a bit of dragging. That was easily remedied by waiting about 5 minutes between coats. This is a rather sheer polish, needing 2 coats to reach semi-opacity, and I would recommend 3 if you don't like minor VNL. However, the polishes from the Girls In Pearls line are all sheer, so I wasn't surprised. Wear on this girl was very impressive! I wore this polish for 3 full days with zero chips and only very slight tip wear. Usually my Sinful Manis only last a day, maybe 2 tops. Not this girl! Definitely a must have pink.

I'm torn between water marbling and playing with studs for my next mani. I picked up some really cool studs at Walgreens the other day and I am just dying to play with them! Since some of them are pink, I'm planning on using some this week with my pink polishes. But I haven't marbled in forever, and I'm just dying to! It's finding the time that's tough.  Hopefully I will be posting sooner than 3 days this time, but things have been so busy, and I'm actually wearing my polish a bit longer these days since I am enjoying my polish as opposed to rushing to take it off to get to the next one. Changing my polish less often has also helped my cuticles in their healing process, which pleases me greatly. Since I've been using the Solar Oil, Burt's Bees, and changing polish less I have really seen an improvement in my cuticles and the ultra sensitive skin on my hands. I'm sure I'll be changing polish daily again at some point, but for now I'm content to allow my skin to heal and really enjoy my polish for more than 24 hours. :)

Happy Polishing!

Sinful Colors Neptune

Hi guys! Hope you all had a fabulous weekend and the start of the week wasn't too bad.

Today I have one of the new Sinful Colors from the new Castaway Collection to share with you. I finally managed to pick one of these babies to wear, and I have to say I am very pleased with my choice. Out of all the new Sinful Colors polishes, I only picked up 3, since they were the only ones that really stood out for me. Today I decided to finally wear Neptune, and wow! I am very much in love!

Neptune is a dusty cornflower blue jelly-ish polish with loads of shimmer. In some light the shimmer plays Silver, and others more of a teal/green. This polish has a ton of depth, and despite not being one of my favorites in the bottle, it is just amazing on the nail.

I took these pictures using just the desk lamp as opposed to the light box since I really wanted to show off this girl's depth. In the light box she tends to show mostly straight periwinkle with silver, and that's not really true to what she looks like on the nail. I'm also really liking the contrast of the pics using this setup, so I may be playing around with it more often. The pics are still true to color, but without the glaring brightness that lightboxes can create.  Please feel free to let me know which lighting you prefer.

This is 2 coats of Neptune over Seche Base, topped with Seche Vite:

Isn't Neptune just beautiful? I wasn't expecting to love this color as much as I do!

Formula on this girl wasn't anything to rave about, unfortunately. Hopefully I just got a wonky bottle, but it was very thick and gloppy. It did even out after a bit of thinner, and I didn't have any other problems. 2 coats was perfect for opacity, although I only use 1 coat to wrap my tips and that left them a touch lighter than the rest of the nail. Thankfully that's not obvious to anyone but me. ;)

After trying Neptune, I'm anxious to try out the other 2 of the new Sinful's that came home with me.

31 Day Challenge, Day 31: Re-create your favorite challenge

Ahhh, such a bittersweet post! However, I have found a form of nail art that I am just loving, and will inundate you guys with all too often, I'm sure! For today's challenge, I chose to re-create the Inspired By A Tutorial Challenge, this time with Patchwork!  You can find the tutorial at Chloe's Nails, under the Tutorials tab. :)

I am just loving these scotch tape manis! I have a bunch I want to do, so I apologize in advance for inundating you with them. But, since Erika is on hiatus, someone has to play with tape! Gotta keep the scotch tape manis alive! ;)

For this mani I started with a base of Wet N Wild Black Creme, then taped off my nails and added Sinful's Purple Diamond. Then I taped my off my nails again, and added Wet N Wild Buffy The Violet Slayer, topped it all off with SV, and voila! Patchwork Mani! If you like tape manis, Erika is the queen of all scotch tape manis, and has awesome tutorials on her page.

And with that, I bid adieu to the 31 Day Challenge. It's been awesome, but I'm really looking forward to creating some awesome tape manis as well as swatching my collection.

Happy Polishing!
