Wet N Wild Megalast Lip Color

It is hard to disagree that both of this lipsticks are utter yummy-ness in a little tube. Until now, I had never tested the cruelty-free low budget brand Wet N Wild, and I must say I was positively surprised.
I came across Cherry Bomb when I was looking for a dark cherry-red lipstick and soon after the darker,  purple Vamp It Up caught my eye.

These lipsticks are part of the Megalast Lip Color series, which provides a very convenient description of them. They last long, without getting blotchy, which is very unusual for lipsticks of dark shades such as these.

Cherry Bomb is a dark cherry red, as the name suggests. Unlike many other lipsticks with the word "cherry" in the name this one refers to real cherries. Ripe ones. The ones you select exclusively because they taste the best.

Dark purple perfection. Those are the words I would use to describe Vamp it up. It is just gorgeous, long lasting and smooth like a dream. What more could you ask for? :)
This is definitely going to be a go-to lipstick for me when I want a substitute for black!

Saran Wrap mani-31 Day Challenge 2013

Debo decir que no me gusta mucho como salieron fue muy difícil fotografiar esta manicura, ya había hecho un diseño para el el tema ''saran wrap'' hace unos días pero ayer que lo vi en mi lap top no me gusto mucho así que decidí hacer otra.

Creo que no me gustaba mucho por que es la primera vez que uso esta técnica para pintarme las uñas  pero bueno les muestro mi segundo intento usando la técnica ''saran wrap''.

Wet N Wild Megalast: Toxic Apple

Hi all! Late post today since I spent a good portion of my free time today working on my Halloween mani! I can't wait to show it to you later! It isn't perfect, but it did come out much better than I thought it would, especially since I threw it all together at the last minute, not really knowing what I was going to do when I sat down at my polish table. It was a lot of fun, but I made a gigantic mess, and my cuticles are not happy about all the sponging, painting, and cleaning up involved with this one. Having sensitive skin in the desert is not fun. But you're not here to listen to me whine! Let's see some polish!

Today I have another awesome new Wet N Wild Megalast Polish to share with you. Toxic Apple is a fab Deep Blurple polish with subtle pink and purple shimmer particles. I love Blurple polishes, and this one is a definite fave. Toxic Apple is actually a touch more on the blue side in most light, however it does flash the purple often. As a bonus, it's also a good one coater! (Sorry about the Lobster Hands - I didn't want to color correct since the polish is true to color in these shots)

Formula:
Toxic Apple has the standard Wet N Wild Formula, simply one of the best drugstore polishes around. Not too thick, not too thin, no glopping, gooping or thickening, and no bubbles, dragging or balding.

Application:
Opaque in a single coat, TA was lovely to apply save for one thing...the brush. This polish has the standard Megalast "Mani-curve" brush, which I usually don't mind. This time around I managed to snag the bottle with the wonky, uneven brush, which led to a very hard time getting anything near a clean line. Which meant more clean- up. Usually not too much of a drag, but this polish is HIGHLY pigmented, and even the smallest swipe of acetone left a blue streak along my skin and nails. Not worth skipping out on this beauty, but to avoid staining be sure to use a good base coat and try to steer clear of your cuticles, even with the edges of your clean up brush.

Overall the good certainly outweighs the bad on this one.  The brush issue seems to be a fluke, and I don't always think of dense pigmentation as a negative, it's just a minor annoyance with cleaning up and possible staining. I use either Qtica or OPI Nail Envy Matte as a base coat and I have had one polish actually stain my nails, and that was a Zoya. Since I always keep my nails polished, not a huge issue. Plus with a price tag of a whopping $1.99? Who can complain? ;)

Wet N Wild Megalast Poison Ivy

Hello all! I have a couple of posts I want to get up today, since the photos were taken before my most recent length chop (I has a sad...I hate taking down my length, but I hate the weird curling more and it will not go away unless I file them down and start over. Boo!).

First up today is Wet N Wild Megalast in Poison Ivy. This years new releases from Wet n Wild have been fabulous. I love the Megalast line, but had been wishing that there were some darker, more vampy colors. Well, wish granted! I don't know if these are LE or specifically a Halloween release, (they were on a Halloween endcap) but they added a blackened emerald, a metallic cobalt, metallic gold, and a really awesome blurple.

The first of these new babies to catch my eye was Poison Ivy, an aboslutely stunning Blackened Emerald. In certain lighting, it has a bit of purple flash, kind of like Illamasqua Viridian, but not really.  It is a bit on the metallic side, but doesn't have a "true metallic" finish. Either way, this is one of the most gorgeous greens I have ever worn, and I was stopped several times by women wanting to know what polish I was wearing.

Oh what little length I had, how I miss you already!

Tell me this is not a breathtaking green! I am in love, and removing this gave me a sad. If you don't have this color, get thee to a Walgreens! It is well worth the $1.99 price tag.

Formula:
Very smooth and silky, no bubbling, dragging, balding, or gooping. Wet N Wild has always been my fave drugstore brand, and formulas like this are part of the reason why.

Application:
Poison Ivy flowed onto the nail smoothly. Consistency was perfect - not too thick, not too thin, and I had no issues with the polish thickening up during use. I'm wearing 2 coats for opacity, and it does need both. PI was a bit streaky on the first coat, but evened out perfectly with the second. I find this to be the norm with blackened hues.

I'm so glad I didn't pass on these, Wet N Wild has really made me happy polish fiend this Halloween. Between these and the Tombstone Fantasy Makers, I am a happy girl!

Wet N Wild Fantasy Makers Tombstone Polish in Rest In Pieces

Hi all! I meant to post this yesterday, but my son was running a pretty good fever and wanted to snuggle with mama all day. He's better today, still has a fever but it's low. I have the virus now though, so tomorrow's post may be late in the day since I'll more than likely be resting today.

I'm also bummed since I had to take my nails down one more time. I get these weird curved spots on a few of my nails sometimes, and the only way to get rid of them is to file that spot down. I thought I had it all last time I took down my length, but I guess not. This time I am certain those pesky spots are gone, so I can work on the length now. Thankfully I also like this length, it just limits some of the things I want to do. But let's get to the polish!

Today I am sharing another Halloween polish. This is the last of this year's Wet N Wild Fantasy Makers Tombstone polishes. Rest In Pieces is a Black Jelly polish with purple microglitter. If you think it looks familiar, it is! It's a re-release of Wet N Wild's Night Prowl. I have Night Prowl, but have yet to post it here, but in the interest of comparison I may do a post on it soon.

Despite being another recycled color, Rest In Pieces is awesome enough to have both. Night Prowl isn't a discontinued color, but I've only seen it one place here, and not until about 4 months ago at that.

The purple in the glitter was hard to capture, but it's just beautiful.  Out of the 3 glitters released this year, RIP is my second fave. Don't get me wrong, I love them all! But Nail in The Coffin really stood out for me. RIP and Once Upon A Time rock, but seeing as they are repromotes I wasn't as excited about them.

Formula:
This was a little on the thin side for a glitter, but that works for me. No clumping, dragging, or bubbling. It does dry very matte, so a topcoat is a must. It also dries VERY quickly, another bonus!

Application:
No real issues here. This went on smoothly, and I had no pooling or running even though it was fairly thin. It does dry fast, so need to wait between coats. Being a jelly base, it is fairly sheer on the first coat, but builds nicely. I'm wearing 3 coats here for depth and opacity, but IRL 2 coats is just fine.

31 Day Challenge (v.2!) Day 21: Inspired By A Color

Good Morning Ladies! Welcome to Day 21 of the challenge! And, it's Friday!!! Woohoo!!! In my world, it's also payday, which means that I ordered more A England Polishes last night!

Today's challenge prompt is Inspired By A Color. I don't know about you guys, but I felt that left things open to interpretation in a big way. Since this is a nail art challenge, I decided to use the name of a polish color for this mani.

I chose Wet N Wild Megalast in Candy-licious, a medium candy pink creme as my base color. Since the name is Candy-licious, I decided that I would do something candy related. I created candy coated nails!

This is 2 coats of Candy-licious, a thick coat of Seche Vite, then I dipped my nails in Pink Candy Crystals and topped with a bit of SV to hold the crystals together. This mani is nowhere near practical, and it's pretty bulky and made my nails look really wide, but it was some serious fun!

I love the color of this mani, but this isn't something I would wear for long. Strangely enough, it had more staying power than expected - none of the crystals came off when I touched them or used my hands and due to the SV over the top, they didn't melt when I washed my hands.  Once I got near them with acetone though? They disintegrated in record time! I was expecting a PITA removal, but this was the fastest removal ever!

Wet N Wild Fantasy Makers Tombstone Polish in Once Upon A Time

Hello Ladies!

Today I have another Halloween polish to share with you all!  Since I showed you all one of the Tombstone polishes this week, I decided to stick with that theme and show another one.

Once Upon A Time is a blackened jelly with tons of Medium Red Hex and microglitter. If you think you've seen something similar from Wet N Wild, you are correct! Once Upon A Time is a dupe for Spoiled Ants In My Pants, which is the same as Wet N Wild Behind Closed Doors. Yup, same polish, different bottle. However, we all know that I love the Tombstone bottles so having 3 bottles of the same polish in different bottles is ok, right? I'm not a hoarder, I swear! ;)

When I swatched Ants In My Pants, I wore it over black. This time, I decided to try this polish out on its own. Very different result!

This was INCREDIBLY Hard to capture for some reason. The light just caused all sorts of problems. At some angles, the glitter looks almost fiery - Red with glowing orange, but I think that has to do with wearing it alone versus over black. When I've worn this girl's dupes over black, the red is dominant. Go figure.

Details:
1 coat Peel Off Base Coat (Trust me, you don't wanna remove this kind of glitter with remover!)
3 coats Once Upon A Time
1 coat Gelous
1 coat Seche Vite

Despite having worn both Ants In My Pants and Behind Closed Doors, this polish is still gorgeous and worth having multiple bottles. I love that it looks amazing on its own, as well as layered over black. Alone, it looks almost fiery, the glitter shifting from Red to Fiery Orange/Red Depending on the light. Layered Over Black, the red glitter pops. Just a lovely combination either way you wear it.

Formula:
This polish is a bit thick, but that seems to help the glitter stick to the nail. No dragging, balding, running, etc. Not exactly perfect, but not problematic.

Application:
Despite the thickness of this polish and the density of the glitters, this baby was not a PITA to apply. The thickness of the jelly base seemed to help the glitters stay in place on the nail, and the density of the glitter meant no fishing for glitter or needing to dab to make sure the glitter wasn't just in one spot on the nail. However, since this is a bit on the thick side, I do recommend thinner coats to avoid a very thick manicure.  I used 2 coats for more opacity (it is a jelly base after all) but it was just fine with 2.  If you don't like sheer spots though, layer this over a black base. This glitter is also a bit thirsty, so if you like a smooth surface I'd slap on a coat of Gelous and Top Coat. 

Despite this being a re-named re-release of a polish that Wet N Wild has released twice before, it's still a gorgeous polish and another must have for those that are fans of red glitter.  Plus, the Tombstone bottle is just too cool to pass up!

31 Day Challenge (v.2!) Day 20: Water Marble

Morning Ladies! Welcome to day 20 of the 31 Day Challenge!

Today's Challenge is Water Marble Nails! Yay!!! I love water marbling, despite the fact that I have yet to master the mess. Someday I will be able to tape well enough to not have to spend 8 hours cleaning up my fingers, but that day is not today. Despite the mess, water marbling is still one of my fave forms of nail art. I really need to start marbling more often.

For this mani I decided I wanted to try something other than the usual flower petals, stripes, and swirls. I started with a base of good ole Wet N Wild Black Creme. For my marble colors I used Sally Hansen Black Out (Since it works fabulously for water marbling) and Sally Hansen Silver Sweep. For my design I too inspiration from the Queen of Water Marbling, Colette from My Simple Little Pleasures. Back in March, she had done this really cool star water marble. She had mentioned that when she used more points, it looked like a pinwheel and since my nails are nowhere near as long as hers, I decided to try something closer to the pinwheel version. However, instead of using 8 points, I used 10, which made it look almost like a starburst/firework on my nails.

Isn't that eye catching? My camera kind of flipped out trying to focus on it!

I'm pretty pleased with how these came out given that it's my first attempt at this design. I do wish that my middle finger was centered, but y can't win em all, right? The overall effect is pretty cool though! I will definitely be trying this design with different colors, as well as Colette's original star design. If you dig water marbling, I highly suggest checking out her blog as well as her youtube tutorials. She is amazing and I have learned everything I know (not much compared to her!) about marbling from Colette's blog and videos.

Wet N Wild Fantasy Makers Tombstone Polish in Nail In The Coffin

Hello again Ladies! 2 posts in one day! Will wonders never cease? ;)

I was attempting to organize my overflowing polish cabinet today, when this baby literally jumped out at me. I took that to mean it's time to start showing Halloween polishes.

Wet N Wild releases the Fantasy Makers Tombstone polishes every year around Halloween, and usually I am unable to find them. This year they popped up in a couple places, which made me a happy polish addict since I didn't have to ogle them from afar for once! There are 4 polishes in this mini-collection, Once Upon A Time (Dupe for Spoiled Ants In My Pants), Rest In Pieces (Dupe for Wet N Wild Night Prowl), A Glow in the dark polish whose name seems to have come off of every bottle I've seen so far, and Nail In The Coffin.

Today I am sharing Nail In The Coffin. As far as I can tell, this may be the only polish in this lineup that is not a dupe for another Wet N Wild polish. NITC is a black jelly polish with silver and pumpkin colored microglitter. The glitter in this girl isn't too dense, but it's also not too sparse to see. It's a gorgeous combination - shimmery and glittery but still chic and sexy.  I think I'm in love!

Isn't she gorgeous?  I love how she shines, even in low light (last 2 photos).

I'm a sucker for a glittery black, and this polish is just the right amount of both.  And how about those bottles? I love those tombstone bottles. It's worth picking these up just for the bottles alone!

Formula:
This girl was impressive. Very smooth, silky formula that flowed easily onto the nail. The consistency was perfection as well: not too thick, not too thin and not thickening during use.

Application:
No application issues here! Smooth as silk and opaque in 2 easy peasy coats. It was a bit streaky on the first coat, but I expect that from most polish. NITC evened out perfectly with the second coat. I did not have any dragging, balding, bubbling or other annoyances.

I'm loving this polish like crazy. This girl will not be gathering dust in my polish cabinet, that's for sure! If you can find these, they are certainly worth the whopping $1.99 price tag. I found mine at Ulta, but they did not last long. I still see them at Smith's, but have yet to see them at Walgreens or CVS.

31 Day Challenge (v.2!) Day 17: Glitter!!

Morning Ladies! Welcome to Day 17 of (our version) of the 31 Day Challenge!

Today's Challenge is glittah!!! I have to tell ya, this mani took FOREVER! Not because it was hard, but because my day yesterday was rotten to the core, and everything that could go wrong, did. In fact, about 3/4 through this mani, I was crawling around on a dirty Walgreens floor hunting for the expensive Android phone that my daughter had randomly placed in our cart, and had either slipped out onto the floor (and was taken) or just plain stolen out of the cart. Fun right? *grumbles*

I did actually manage to finish this mani......at 10:30 pm. Considering I started at 10:00 am, well, that may give you an idea of how freakishly bad my day was. However, glitter makes everything better, right?

I had a really hard time deciding what to use for this mani, but in the end my need for something fun won out. I chose Hard Candy The End, a straight, glossy black, as my base, and Spoiled By Wet N Wild's Pirate's Booty for the glitter. Pirate's Booty is a gorgeous combination of gold and orange microglitter in a clear base. I don't wear a lot of gold for some strange reason, but this glitter called to me when the Spoiled line came out. It's very sparse, and I needed 3 (count 'em, 3!) coats for this mani. Not a great full coverage glitter, but I'll bet it would look rockin' over a deep Burgundy.

I used scotch tape for the design, and sealed everything off with Seche Vite. I have to admit that this is one of my fave designs and I was itching to wear it in Black and Gold. This Challenge was the perfect excuse! I will confess that I skimped on the tip wrap on some of the coats of SV between the base color and final coat, but hey....if it's only seen in macro mode, it's still alright. ;)

I am loving this. It's been a while since I've been this happy with how a mani turned out.  My lines aren't perfectly aligned, but it's close enough for my nail OCD to be okay with it. ;)
