30 days of Blue: Miss Sporty 060 Hyptnotic Turquoise

Hi guys! Let me apologize right away for my absence. This week has been rough. Hubs started a new job, which threw our schedules way out of whack. We really need to get a second car. I've also been giving up a horrible vice that I have indulged in on and off since I was 14, and have needed to break some cycles so I've been retraining my brain. It's also really hard to sit down and write when all you want to do is scream. Then yesterday I started feeling horrid, and ended up at urgent care this morning. Still feeling pretty icky and my back is just killing me, but I'm alive and figured I should post this now, and get my slacker ass back into posting. I did miss it, but I had to take a little mental health break, ya know? Quitting is hard, and even though I've done it several times before (yes I'm talking about smoking. I smoked forever, quit with both my kids, stayed quit for along time and then wham! Dad ends up in the hospital and I fall on my old, nasty, smelly crutch. I suck. I'm embarrassed enough to even talk about it, so please spare me the lectures...), it never gets easier. I'm trying to break those smoking connections and this time I'm taking Chantix to ease the nicotine withdrawal. However, I'm only on day 3 of the Chantix, and it takes a good week to build up in your system enough to really work. But enough about my nasty habits, let's get back to my favorite habit, shall we?

This is actually my 3rd mani over my 5 day absence, but I managed to completely screw up the first 2. Both by not taking pictures right away and whacking the heck out of a finger or 2 and tearing the polish off. Upside is that I loved them both and can wear them again now!

This is Miss Sporty #060 Hypnotic Turquise. I received this in a swap from the awesome Laura, and could not wait to wear it! I was sticking from traditional blues for awhile there, but I have so many polishes that are blue-but not straight blue and I really want to wear them.

Hypnotic Turquoise is really just that - a gorgeous bright turquoise with awesome shimmer and the faintest hint of purple in certain lights. I spent alot of time staring at my hands while wearing this one. I am a sucker for turquoise, but I prefer when it leans more blue, which this girl does. I need to find a place to order a backup bottle, as well as some more colors from this brand. I swear I'm just going to make a trip to the UK just to buy polish! So jealous of all you guys have out there! (Side note: Laura also sent me a Barry M as well as a Model's Own and a No.7 Stay Perfect. I cannot wait to wear them all!!)

Here is Hypnotic Turquoise in all her glory:

Tell me she is not gorgeous!!!! Can you see the teeny tiny hint of purple? Man, I love love love this baby!

Formula-wise, I was super impressed. This polish applied smooth as silk. I did have some tiny bubbles, but I think that was actually my own impatience with my base coat (bottom of the bottle, and although I have a new bottle, I hate to waste that stuff, so I tend to use as much as possible) rather than the polish since it only happened on the nails that I had issues with my base being a touch gloppy. I was worried that it might be brush-strokey, but it wasn't very brush-strokey at all. I really want to get my hands on more of this brand!

On day 2 I decided to try out the new Sally Hansen Diamond Strength Jewel Overcoats. I grabbed Multi-Faceted and added a layer over Hypnotic Turquoise. I dig the combo, but the base color did kind of eat up the teal glitter in this. Multi-Faceted is an awesome combination of Silver, Black, Teal, Green, Holo Blue/Blurple, and even some random yellow/gold Hex glitter suspended in a clear base. It's a fisher; I had to fish out the glitter and then do a little placing on the nail, but I tend to think that anything with Black Glitter is worth messing with! I went a little heavier on my index finger, but decided that I really do like these chunky glitters best with a light coat and kept the rest of my nails less busy. Then I added a coat of my fave Matte Top Coat, by Warpaint Beauty. I love the result!

Lately I have a love affair with Matte Glitter. I just love it!

Hope you all are having a great weekend so far! I criss-cross my heart that my time off is over and I shall return as normal with 48 hours!

Happy Polishing_
Kimber
