This was the first thing that popped into my brain when I watched Sarah Burton's pre-fall collection forAlexanderMcQueen. Although there were no white dresses or blue satin sashes. But the feeling of big-time gala and MarieAntionette was intact the whole way through.
The silhouettes pointed towards the 18th century fashion; brocades, long jackets, full skirts, corsetted waists and puffy peasant girl sleeves. Having recently been one of the most visited and promoted exhibitions in New York, McQueen met all my expectations and more (as always my favourite couture brand) with its museum worthy styles. The collection's 24 styles were not nearly enough for my hungry eyes.
