Saturday Swatch: Julep Megan

Hi guys! Hope you're all enjoying your Saturday! Julep has yet to respond about the penny Maven box code; hopefully I'll have more info soon. Until then, you can still receive your first box for $5.00 (with free shipping) by going here and using code: JANUARY or MAVEN5 (they both work). I used the MAVEN5 code for my first box, and even at $5.00 versus a penny, it's still an amazing deal and worth every cent. You can cancel or skip a month at anytime, or send the box to someone else as a gift. It's a great program, and I'm working on that penny code! But for now, back to the polish!

Today I have a quick and dirty swatch of Julep's Megan for you. I literally slapped this on right before heading out the door, since I have this aversion to going anywhere with naked nails. I didn't wrap my tips or use my usual base coat, so it's a bit uneven and haphazard, but it's such a gorg blue that I had to share it.  This is 2 coats of Julep Megan over a quick coat of Julep Nail Therapy, LA Girl Blue Glitter (thanks Marisa!) on my ring finger, and topped with Rush Quick Drying topcoat (more on that later!):

She's a pretty one, ain't she? I love how this shade of Aquamarine has a subtle shift in different light. These were all snapped in my lightbox, so they don't show much of that shift, but it's there. I do wish that my hands didn't look so lobstery lately! Unfortunately due to the cold and cleaning, they really are a bit red.

Formula on this polish is standard for Julep, smooth and silky, no complaints. Despite not wrapping my tips or taking any real care with this mani, it wore well for the night. I did try out a different top coat here, and I hated it! I had picked up a bottle of Rush 60 second quick dry top coat at Sally's awhile back, and decided that for a quick swatch/mani it would do. Unfortunately my body chemistry hates this stuff! It immediately shrank the polish at my cuticle line, and wrinkled my ring finger. Lucky for me, I was planning on using this lovely blue glitter by LA Girl that Marisa sent me as an accent nail, otherwise I would've been seriously ticked off. The shine and dry time on this stuff was amazing, but it literally molded to my nail like saran wrap. When I removed this mani, the whole polished piece slid off just as if it had been saran wrapped! Insane! And a little gross, but I'm easily squicked by weird things. I do believe I'll stick to Sally Hansen Insta-Dri for my very rare swatches, and my Poshe and SV for manis. If it ain't broke, don't fix it!

Happy polishing!
