Xmas Mani Numero Uno!

I wore this mani over the weekend, despite not being exactly thrilled with how it came out. Not a complete fail, but not awesome either.  I wanted to try out freehand Christmas Lights, combined with a color that I am absolutely in love with and had been dying to wear. In retrospect, I probably should've just worn this color alone! ;)

For this mani I use Ulta's Soho Skinny as my base, and freehanded the lights using Pure Ice Silver Mercedes and a bunch of different Sally Hansen and Confetti Colors for the lights bulbs. I do not have mad freehand skills and this came out better than it could have, but not as good as I had hoped for!

Despite not being my best work, this was a very fun mani to work on. I love Ulta's polishes, and Soho Skinny is no exception. It's such a gorgeous dusty deep blue with subtle shimmer - one of my very favorites shades. I really need to swatch it for you guys, you'll love it! It's from Ulta's  Ulta Blues Collection that I picked up in mini size a few months back. I have no idea why I have only worn 2 of the 5 polishes! Formula was excellent, very creamy and smooth, however it does need a full 2 coats for opacity. One coat alone is a bit streaky and if you don't keep the coats thin it has some drag. It dries lightning fast as well, so you have to be quick!  The nail art I did with a small nail art brush. I'm thinking if I ever attempt this mani again I may use my dotting tools for the finer work, since the brush forced me to make my bulbs a touch larger than I wanted them.

Hope you all are enjoying the holiday season!

Happy Polishing!
