Metallic

The other day when I was browsing through the web in search for inspiration I came across this look by Bowsandcurtseys. Suddenly I knew exactly what to do with my new Makeup Geek pigments! :)

Combine different shades of metallic to create a three dimensional look. Gold and copper are perfect for emphasizing blue eyes whereas cool silver and gunmetal shades brings out brown eyes.

Mixing Goldilux with a drop of Illamasqua's sealing gel makes the perfect golden eyeliner - smudge- and waterproof! :)

*Product(s) Featured provided for review. Please see Disclaimer/Legal Page for more information**

Hello Lovelies! I apologize for the lateness with this post. I swear...this year has just been the worst year for almost everyone I know, and it will not let up. Many of you have read my daughter's story, and I am incredibly saddened to report that the bully that tormented Kalli for over 2 years has decided that one year of being good was enough, and has started in again - of course with a friend. Kalli's school is much better than the school she was in when this happened with this girl last time, however the mere fact that the school board was involved, the police were involved, and many, many people were disciplined over this girl and her constant torture and this girl has the guts to start in again just pisses me off to no end. Scuse my french. I am so over this girl and the school has one change, otherwise I use the phone numbers that I have stashed away (Direct numbers to the Superintendent and head of school police) as well as APD and my lawyer. With my daughter in treatment for sever depression and PTSD and now self-harming, I am not messing around. I'm really not above slapping a 12 year old bully with a restraining order.

Needless to say, I'm dealing with this situation as well as trying to keep my daughter stable and okay, and posting fell to the wayside. I know that all of you understand that my kids come before anything else on earth, but I always feel the need to explain, as well as share since this is the most supportive community that I have ever been blessed to be a part of.

I'll be honest, Polish isn't just a passion for me...It's like Zen. When I sit down to polish my nails, it's like my stress melts away and I'm able to relax and refocus. Which is why I try to keep on posting even though I have a ton of stress and turmoil. Having said that, let's take a look at some flippin' crazy awesome polish!!

Today I have a 3rd killer polish from the new Diagon Alley Collection from Polish TBH. This one is a glitter topper called Pumpkin Pasties, and is very special since it was actually created by Christian's son! How awesome is that? Proceeds from Pumpkin Pasties will go directly to his piggy bank, which is even cooler. I'm fairly certain this kid is going to be rollin' in dough, since this polish is just too awesome for words.

Pumpkin Pasties is a mix of Hot Orange Hexes, 2 different shades of pinks in different sizes, black and white bars, Gold hexes, black and white hexes, and a gold & orange metallic glitter blend in a clear base. Phew! That's a mouthful! But it makes for one really Epic glitter topper.

I chose to layer 1 coat of this beauty over Essie tart Deco, which created a manicure that I do not want to take off. Ever. And peaches/oranges are not my colors!

Oh how this polish makes my knees weak!!! Look at that sparkle, those colors....this is once seriously kick-ass polish. I think Christian's son should make some more for us! Dontcha think?

How about a macro shot??

*Falls over* Can you see those little orange shreds in there???  Yeah, those make me do the happy dance!

Pumpkin Pasties formula is the usual Polish TBH perfection. Even though this baby is packed with glitter, there's no need to dab it on, and no chunks of glitter on the brush to worry about. Application is amazingly easy with the glitter dispersing perfectly on the nail and laying nice and flat. There's also an even mix of the different glitters on the brush, so no need to hand place any of the larger pieces or add extra to certain spots. Pumpkin Pasties dries very smooth for a glitter bomb, and I needed only 1 coat of my usual top coat for a smooth finish. Wear is excellent - in fact I've been wearing this for just over 2 days and have not one sign of wear and not one single lifting glitter.

Pumpkin Pasties is pure awesomesauce, folks. It's been awhile since I have been this in love with a glitter topper (and we all now how much I love glitter toppers, right?), and I'm already planning on ordering a backup bottle.  If you haven't pre-ordered this, mark your calendars and grab a bottle first thing on Saturday morning. You need this. Period.

You can find the Diagon Alley Collection and all of the Polish TBH pretties at Polish TBH on Big Cartel. Full size polishes range from $10-$12 depending on finish, and the Diagon Alley Collection is also available in a full set for $55 full size or $22 mini. The Diagon Alley pre-order is unfortunately finished, but the collection will go on sale this Saturday, 8/31. Also making a triumphant return is one of my fave polishes of all time, Tiny Dancer! I guarantee that not only with Diagon Alley sell out, but Tiny Dance will as well, so I highly recommend some serious store stalking on Saturday. You can also follow Polish TBH on Facebook and Instagram for updates, swatches, and the release time on Saturday.

What do you lovelies think of Pumpkin Pasties? Is this not the ultimate Fall glitter?? *swoons*

I'll be back tomorrow (I can't guarantee what time, but I'll make it!) with more from the Diagon Alley Collection! I also have some awesome polish from Gothic Gala,  Squishy Face Polish, Cinema Swatch Lacquers, Euphoria Lacquers and Mint Polish lined up for next week.

Since Monday is my birthday, I'm probably taking the day off, but I'll share my bday Mani on Tuesday. I also have a really Epic giveaway in the works that should go live next week, so be sure to keep an eye out!

Thanks for stopping by and Happy Polishing!

New Indie Alert!!! Cinema Swatch Lacquers: Emerald City Gates

Press Sample

*Product(s) Featured provided for review. Please see Disclaimer/Legal Page for more information**

Hello Lovelies! Happy Wednesday! I'm a touch behind (again....I'm getting used to this) since I received some horrible news from my family in England yesterday. I will not go into it here since I feel it is deeply personal and my family needs their privacy during this incredibly hard time.

Anyway, I will have a Mish Mash Manicure for you all today, however I'm starting the day off with a brand new Indie Brand! I live for finding new and awesome Indie Brands, and this one really stood out to me.

Cinema Swatch Lacquers is a new Indie polish brand focused on Movie themed lacquers. Their first collection centers around The Wizard of Oz, which I find a very fitting entrance. I was lucky enough to receive 4 polishes from this collection to share with you, and all of them are just beautiful. SO let's take a look at my first Cinema Swatch Lacquers polish!

Emerald City Gates boasts a fabulous Olive toned green base packed with emerald, gold, and sapphire micro-glitter. This baby screams Emerald City to me, and makes me want to pull out the movie and grab some popcorn.

This is 3 coats with top coat:

Yowza! I think it's fair to say that this polish is gorgeous! I love a good green, and those microglitters add just the right touch of sparkle. Definitely one of my favorite greens. In fact, I can see myself reaching for this often - I do love those Olive toned greens!

Emerald City Gates' formula is incredibly impressive. I'll be honest- when trying out a brand spankin' new Indie, I don't expect a flawless formula or great application. There's a bit of a learning curve with making polish (so I hear - I'm not talented or patient enough to give it a go myself), but Emerald City Gates hit the mark right out of the gate (pun intended?)! Consistency was lovely - thick enough for great coverage yet thin enough to flow nicely, and I did not have any thickening during use. Application was wonderful as well with no dragging or balding. In fact, this polish flowed onto the nail like liquid silk. ECG is a touch sheer, so you will need 2-3 coats for opacity (I used 3 for intensity). Dry time was incredibly fast, and wear was excellent with no signs of wear at 36 hours.

Talk about an impressive start! Cinema Swatch Lacquers has definitely hit the ground running. I was so impressed with this polish that I literally could not stop showing anyone and everyone who would bother to look. I mean, I have polish from established brands that don't have a formula this good. Same for application. This is definitely a brand to watch. I have 3 more pretties from Cinema Swatch Lacquers to share with you over the coming week or so, and I cannot wait.

You can check out Cinema Swatch Lacquers and the Wizard of Oz debut Collection at Cinema Swatch on Etsy. Polishes run $5 for 7.5ml, or you can grab the entire 6 polish collection for $25. Be sure to follow Cinema Swatch Lacquers on Instagram for updates, giveaways, swatches, sales info and more.

What do you think of Emerald City Gates? Isn't this a flippin' awesome polish?

I'll be back later on with another Mish Mash Challenge manicure! Tomorrow brings more Polish TBH awesomeness and I have some Squishy Face Polish and more Cinema Swatch Lacquers coming your way soon.

Thanks for stopping by and Happy Polishing!

Sinful Colors Leather Luxe Collection : Leather Loose! A late TIOT mani

Nothing to Disclose

*Product(s) Featured purchased by KLK. Please see Disclaimer/Legal Page for more information**

Hello Lovelies! Happy Wednesday! I am running a day behind because, let's be honest, I was a slacker yesterday. For the first time in weeks I didn't have to spend all day running around or working, so I did some much needed relaxing and allowed my ADD to run free.

Yesterday was also Try It On Tuesday, and I had my mani all planned out and ready to go, when I ran into the new Leather Luxe polishes from Sinful Colors. I had to bring a couple home with me (the rest will be coming home on Friday), and one of them was insisting that I use her right away for TIOT. I managed to do the mani, but underestimated the power of my slacking and did not manage to actually crop and watermark the photos until very late last night. And in true slacker fashion, I fell asleep as soon as that was done. So now I am a day late, since I obviously did not manage to work on my Mish Mash Challenge mani for today. I regret nothing. Don't Judge Me. :)

At least I have a gorgeous polish to share with you today! This beauty is Leather Loose (I feel like that should be Loose Leather, but ok) from Sinful Colors' new Leather Luxe Collection. In my opinion, this is *THE* stand-out and must have polish from this collection. LL is a deep brown with a multitude of golden flecks. This girl is also a matte polish, giving the effect of leather (or it's supposed to anyway...it kinda lacks the wrinkly texture, but I'm okay with that) on the nail.

I chose to show this beauty with the Matter finish, as opposed to adding top coat, but I  should mention that with topcoat this polish is still amazing. Tons of depth and gorgeous color and shimmer.

This is 2 coats of Leather Loose, no top coat:

Dear god, I love this polish! And I'm not a big fan of browns. This one is just....I don't know. It's beyond words. It 's deliciously dark and vampy, and a great shade of brown. Like an espresso bean with shimmery gold flecks. I love this so much that I still haven't removed it to start on my Mish Mash Mani. Told ya I was slacking!

You may notice there is an additional watermark on my ring finger....I'm a bit tired of my photos popping up on random "nail" accounts (i.e. someone with all stolen pics taking credit for bloggers' hard work), so I added that ring finger watermark to make it a bit harder to steal. I hate having to do that, but I put a lot into my pics. I hate messing with photos in photoshop or gimp, so I shoot a ton of photos to capture the color correctly. I also agonize over which photos to use, then crop and watermark them which takes forever since I have a toddler that will not let me do more than 3 minutes worth at a time.

But back to le polish!

Leather Loose's formula is good, but not without issues. This girl thickened up on me rather fast, however it was nothing that couldn't be remedied by a little shake between hands. I also have to ask you to keep in mind that I live in the desert and it's hot as hell (literally) here in the summer, so certain finishes will thicken up on me fast. Mattes tend to be one. Application was easy peasy (as long as I shook the bottle gently in between hands and coats) and dry time was fast, fast, fast. Like Porsche 911 Carrera on the Autobahn fast (yeah, yeah, there are faster cars, but Porsche will always be my fave). Finish is smooth and the color is vibrant and saturated. With top coat, this color really pops, bringing out the gold fleck.

I love this. I just love it. If you pick up just one polish from the Leather Luxe Collection, it should be Leather Loose. The rest of the collection is quite beautiful as well, but this one really stands out in the crowd.

What do you think of Leather Loose? Have you grabbed any of the Leather Luxe polishes?

I will have my Mish Mash Challenge post up tomorrow morning. I'm starting on it in a few minutes since slacker time is officially over. Not that I'm motivated. Slacking is a vicious cycle! Time to make some coffee, right?

Also keep an eye out for some really awesome new and new to me Indie Brands coming to KLK over the next week or so. I have Some holo goodness from Squishyface polish, Mint Polish, Elixir Lacquers, Cinema Swatch Lacquers and Gothic Gala coming up. I'll also have swatches from the upcoming Polish TBH Diagon Alley Collection this week! You do not want to miss those!

Thanks for stopping by and Happy Polishing!

Love, Angeline Polish - Angel Wings

 Press Sample

*Product(s) Featured provided for review. Please see Disclaimer/Legal Page for more information**

Hello Lovelies! Happy Caturday! I actually had a fairly lazy day today, hence the late post. Since it's the weekend, I decided not to rush and just unwind a bit. I've been rushing around so much the past few weeks that I needed some unwinding.

Today's post is special in 2 ways. 1, It's an unreleased polish that is truly beautiful and 2, It was chosen by my girl Gini from Sassy Paints. It's her birthday, and since I am broke as all hell I decided to honor her the only way I know how - with polish. I asked Gini to choose from a few options yesterday - essentially she chose her own Birthday post mani!

I first met Gini way back when I started my second 31 Day Challenge. Gini was one of the first bloggers to join in, and I gotta tell ya, the girl did some epic manicures. I really got to know Gini when I had come across some polishes that she just couldn't find. I grabbed them up and sent them off to her. Eventually we started talking more and more and I discovered the wonderful woman the she truly is. She makes me laugh so hard that I've literally almost peed myself, she calms me down when I'm pissed off, and when I have a gripe, she's right there with me. I adore this woman and even though we have never met IRL, I consider her one of my closest friends. I don't let very many people into my inner circle, but with Gini it was easy. I truly adore her and value her friendship like no other.

So Happy Birthday Gini! I hope your day was filled with awesomeness and not smelly dog, laundry, or illness.  Love you girl! ;)

FYI, Gini is having an awesome Birthaversary giveaway! You can click here to go right to her blog and enter.

The polish that Miss Gini picked out for today is Love, Angeline Angel Wings. This polish is so much more beautiful that I can even say. It's a beautiful almost cream colored base loaded with golden shimmer that creates an almost duochrome effect. Mixed into that killer base are golden hexes.

This is 3 coats of Angel Wings, with top coat:

Soooooo gorgeous! I wish my pics did this girl justice, but my camera was just flipping out over the light reflecting off the shimmer. In person, you can really see the shift from that lovely cream/ivory color to a vivid, but soft golden hue. It truly is remarkable!

Angel Wings' formula is excellent. I had no issues whatsoever. Application was perfection with no dragging, balding, or pesky streaks. The glitter dispersed nicely and evenly with no clumping, Dry time is incredibly fast and wear is amazing with zero signs of wear at around 36 hours. Angel Wings does not dry textured, but since the base is a shimmery metallic type, it will show the outline of some of the glitters in previous coats. Not bothersome to me at all! This girl is also pretty sheer - I have some slight VNL at 3 coats, but only at the right angle. When the gold shimmer takes over, you can't see any VNL. Not that I would care, since this polish is so gorgeous that I'd deal with a ton of VNL!

Love, Angeline has quickly climbed up the ladder into my fave brands. Natosha comes up with the most amazing color combos and her formula is always spot on. In fact, I love LA so much that I have a literal ton of Natosha's polish waiting to be shown off. I went a little nuts with in her shop a while back. :)

You can find Love, Angeline polishes at Love, Angeline on Big Cartel. Full size polishes will run you $8 each, Collection Sets are $21. The Smoke and Mirrors Collection is now available for pre-order, so head on over before they sell out! You really don't miss want to pass those up. Also take a peek at Light Show, Strawberry Fields, Tea'-lite and Enchanted Love. Epic!

I'm not sure when Natosha will be releasing Angel Wings, but you can follow Love, Angeline on Facebook and Instagram for new release updates, sales info, and swatches.

What do you think of Angel Wings? Do you dig gold polish?

I'll be back on Monday with some more Indie awesomeness. Taking Sunday off this week since I am still just beat.

Thanks for stopping by and Happy Polishing!
-Kimber
