Hello Lovelies! Please excuse my random disappearance - Somehow my keyboard on my Macbook was given a drink of water while I wasn't looking and I was sans keyboard for a bit there. The external USB keyboard that I usually use was also doused, and is still out of commission, but the tiny macbook keyboard is working again, which is better than nothing. At least I am able to post.

In other news, I had a flare up of the evil lungs over the weekend (if you follow me on Instagram (@KimbersKorner) you already know how thrilled I was to be denied care by my Pulmonologist since I am currently in between health insurance coverage. On top of that, Monday afternoon I arrived at a long time client's house for the final day of her pet sit, to find that one of her dogs had passed away overnight. Thankfully being a vet tech for 8 years has steeled me for the death of furry friends, yet this one hit me incredibly hard. It appears that he was either bit or stung (he had a history of severe anaphalactic reactions) and in the hours between visits he passed. Calling his owner was one of the hardest things I have ever done. Thankfully she is a wonderful person and knows how high our standard of care is so she doesn't blame us, however I still feel responsible. Chances are that without an EpiPen, even had I been there I would not have been able to save him, but the what ifs will always be there. What's worse, is that my bond with this dog was deep, and I feel his loss very deeply.

See? 2013 is the worst year ever for me, and just keeps getting worse. I can't wait to see it roll away.

But let's talk about happy things, shall we?

Today I have an awesome polish from Mint Polish to share. I've been wanting to try out Mint Polish for good while, and was lucky enough to win a giveaway on Instagram. The shade I won is called Full Bodied, and is a gorgeous Oxblood Jelly. I fell in love with this shade the moment I saw her on Instagram, and a few days later, entered the giveaway to win her. I was shocked that I won, but oh so thrilled. Not only did winning allow me to try a brand that I've been dying to check out, but I won the vampy polish of my dreams! A huge thank you to Mint Polish!

You'll also notice the return of my left hand! It's back to swatch shape again, so I'm sure you'll be seeing it from time to time. I prefer to photograph my right hand, but since I *am* right handed, sometimes the left hand is just easier.

This is 3 coats of the fabulous Full Bodied topped with HK Girl Top Coat:

Rawr! I dare you to tell me that this is not the sexiest oxblood jelly ever! I'll be honest, I rarely love a color enough to wear it without glitter or nail art, but I've been wearing this for 3 days now, all on her lonesome. So much love for this polish!

Full Bodied's formula is just as impressive as its color, with a thick yet fluid consistency that doesn't thicken up during use. Application was so easy that this polish may as well have applied itself - no dragging, balding, or streaking - which is always a huge bonus with such a dark jelly polish. Full Bodied is opaque at 2 coats, although I used 3 since my photo lighting is very strong and tends to make Jellies look much sheerer than they truly are. Dry time was fast, and Full Bodied is incredibly shiny, even without top coat. I, being the impatient creature that I am, did use my beloved HK Girl Top Coat though, which made this girl even shinier. Wear is simply amazing - I'm on day 3 of wearing this beauty and I have zero tip wear or chips, the shine is still just as dazzling and the color just as rich and vibrant.

I love this polish so very much, loves. I simply must try more from Mint Polish (this is why I need to win the lottery - my budget is a cruel, cruel mistress.)! With a formula this fabulous, amazing application and incredible wear, I just have to have more. And the colors! Mint Polish makes some seriously dazzling colors!

Tawdry Terrier - Playing In The Leaf Pile

Hello again lovelies! Today marks the beginning of some swatch spam! As most of you already know, I've been having some technical difficulties. As in things keep either breaking or burning out. Yesterday was the final straw, when my power was out for most of the daylight hours. Last week it was the evil crumbling SD card, and before that my lights, a killer cold, blah blah blah. The other day all my photos came out with a heavy red cast and I had to spend hours trying to correct the color. Sheesh. I tell you, I was ready to just quit.

Buuuut.....everything is now replaced and working! And I have power. Red cast to my photos has been corrected (it helps if you white balance to the ambient light) and I've been swatching the morning away.

First up for today is a polish from Tawdry Terrier, a new Indie Brand with an awesome canine theme. Tadry Terrier just opened shop at the end of July, but they already have a plethora of awesome colors available. The color I'm sharing today is called Playing In The Leaf Pile, from the Autumn In The Barkshires Collection. This polish looks exactly like it sounds - a gorgeous blend of purple, red, orange, brown, gold, and green glitters in an Orangey Bronze glass fleck base- this girl immediately reminded me of raking up leaves with my father and jumping into the pile.

This is 2 coats topped with HK Girl Top Coat:

Tell me this polish doesn't look like a leaf pile in a bottle! It really makes me long for the days when we had huge piles of leaves to play in. And that base color! It's actually a bit of a chameleon - shifting from a shimmery orange to a glowing bronze depending on the light. Those glitters are gorgeous as well - the green really pops out at me, and the red glitters seem more of a burgundy color, which really makes my little heart sing. Oranges tend to make me a little pink, but hey....if we all stopped wearing colors that made out skin tones a bit odd, we'd be pretty limited, right? And c'mon - are you looking at this polish? How could I NOT wear this??

Playing In The Leaf Pile's formula is perfection, which is impressive since it is just loaded with glitter. Normally a glitter polish like this is on the thick side, but PITLP's consistency was on the thinner side, while still being thick enough to hold all that glitter. Application was excellent with no dragging, balding, clumpy glitters, etc. Opacity is excellent - this is almost a 1 coater! Dry time was incredibly fast with my nails completely dry before I was even able to top coat.

I am so very impressed with Tawdry Terrier so far. I have 2 more beauties from TT to share with you over the next few days, and I am so excited. I love finding a great new Indie Brand, and Tawdry Terrier not only has impressed me with their formula and application, but their colors and glitter mixes are so unique and beautiful. I have a feeling we're going to be seeing a lot more from this brand.

Gothic Gala Lacquers - Welcome To The Ball

Hello Lovelies! Man, it has been a crazy day. For some reason the business is booked solid at the moment and I've been in and out all day. 7 clients may not seem like much, but at one hour per client, 15-45 minutes drive time each way, plus all my usual responsibilities, my day is already gone.  I feel fairly triumphant actually getting this posted before midnight!

Today I have a new Indie Brand to share with you all. Gothic Gala Lacquers just opened shop late last month, but I have been stalking Sam and her polishes for a few months on Facebook and Instagram. I just had a feeling when I saw that first pic that Gothic Gala was going to be something special.

The first GG Polish that I'm sharing with you lovelies is Welcome To The Ball, a freaking stunning mix of various holographic glitters and microglitter in a charcoal base. Normally I save the big whammy for last, but I couldn't resist this one. It was calling my name way before it even made it to me!

This is 2 coats of Welcome To The Ball topped with NPB Glitter Food and HK Girl Top Coat:

Oh. My. God. Can we just take a moment to bask in the glory of this gorgeous polish?? Those holo glitters, the microglitter, that charcoal color....it's all just perfection. It's happy in a bottle, I tell you! But wait! There's more! How about a macro shot so we can bask in the holo action?

I want to point out that the glitter in the top right corner has an actual RAINBOW. So awesome.

Welcome To The Ball's Formula is so impressive that I really had a hard time believing that this is from a debut collection. I experienced no thickening, clumping glitters, and no no need to shake the hell out of the bottle to blend things up. Application was just as flawless with no dragging, balding, or unruly glitters. Opacity was awesome with full opacity at 2 rather thin coats. Dry time was fairly epic (my nails were dry before I could even reach for my top coat) and wear is incredible. I've actually worn this twice since I managed to somehow delete the first set of photos of this girl, and both time I had zero signs of wear at over 24 hours. WTTB does dry just slightly textured, so I added a coat of Glitter Food to keep things smooth and protect the larger glitters. Between the glitter food and top coat, you would think that the holo effect would be diminished, but that just wasn't the case.  This girl has some VERY strong holo - especially in sunlight. Since I swatch at night, and it's been all sorts of overcast and rainy here, I wasn't able to snap any sunlight pics. I have to admit, Gothic Gala has me excited. Samantha's debut collection is just fabulous and shows incredible potential to keep the unique and gorgeous polishes coming our way. In fact, Welcome To The Ball is the most perfect debut polish I have ever had the pleasure of swatching. You guys really need to snatch it up while it's available (It sells out FAST!)

New Indie Alert!!! Cinema Swatch Lacquers: Emerald City Gates

Hello Lovelies! Happy Wednesday! I'm a touch behind (again....I'm getting used to this) since I received some horrible news from my family in England yesterday. I will not go into it here since I feel it is deeply personal and my family needs their privacy during this incredibly hard time.

Anyway, I will have a Mish Mash Manicure for you all today, however I'm starting the day off with a brand new Indie Brand! I live for finding new and awesome Indie Brands, and this one really stood out to me.

Cinema Swatch Lacquers is a new Indie polish brand focused on Movie themed lacquers. Their first collection centers around The Wizard of Oz, which I find a very fitting entrance. I was lucky enough to receive 4 polishes from this collection to share with you, and all of them are just beautiful. SO let's take a look at my first Cinema Swatch Lacquers polish!

Emerald City Gates boasts a fabulous Olive toned green base packed with emerald, gold, and sapphire micro-glitter. This baby screams Emerald City to me, and makes me want to pull out the movie and grab some popcorn.

This is 3 coats with top coat:

Yowza! I think it's fair to say that this polish is gorgeous! I love a good green, and those microglitters add just the right touch of sparkle. Definitely one of my favorite greens. In fact, I can see myself reaching for this often - I do love those Olive toned greens!

Emerald City Gates' formula is incredibly impressive. I'll be honest- when trying out a brand spankin' new Indie, I don't expect a flawless formula or great application. There's a bit of a learning curve with making polish (so I hear - I'm not talented or patient enough to give it a go myself), but Emerald City Gates hit the mark right out of the gate (pun intended?)! Consistency was lovely - thick enough for great coverage yet thin enough to flow nicely, and I did not have any thickening during use. Application was wonderful as well with no dragging or balding. In fact, this polish flowed onto the nail like liquid silk. ECG is a touch sheer, so you will need 2-3 coats for opacity (I used 3 for intensity). Dry time was incredibly fast, and wear was excellent with no signs of wear at 36 hours.

Talk about an impressive start! Cinema Swatch Lacquers has definitely hit the ground running. I was so impressed with this polish that I literally could not stop showing anyone and everyone who would bother to look. I mean, I have polish from established brands that don't have a formula this good. Same for application. This is definitely a brand to watch. I have 3 more pretties from Cinema Swatch Lacquers to share with you over the coming week or so, and I cannot wait.

Candied Lustre - Peachy Keen (Holo Glitter Thermal!)

Hello Lovelies! I took the day off yesterday due to an emergency with my daughter. Some of you know what's happened, but I'm not really ready to discuss it here. I know that alot of you know her story and how she was bullied so badly that she wanted to kill herself at the tender age of 10, and we'll just say that it's all related. I spent yesterday in an emotional coma, but did manage to make some calls to get her set up with a better therapy team. I'm working on swatches, but since they're thermals, it's slow going. Gotta love photographing those thermals! ;)


Today I have one of 4 brand new thermal polishes from Candied Lustre to share with you. Bri is a genius with thermals, so it was no surprise that I about fell over when I saw these. All 4 thermals are full of holo dust and holo glitters, and have a serious color shift. Let's take a peek at the first one, shall we?

 
Peachy King is a clear to dark peach thermal. It's positively loaded with holo dust and holo glitters, so not only does it have a great shift, but the sparkle is just amazing!

First up is Peachy King in her "warm" state. I really love this polish when she 's warm. There is something about a silvery, glittery, sparkle that makes my heart skip a beat. This is 3 coats plus top coat (Click to make big):

 Beautiful..just beautiful. I love the sparkle and all the shimmery holo dust here. However, if you think that's pretty, check out Peachy King in her "cold" state!

I'll apologize now for how red my skin looks here - In order to keep the color change under photography lights I have to soak my hands in ice water for a few minutes. Needless to say, I get a touch splotchy! But you're supposed to be looking at the polish anyway. ;)

Double Love! *That* is one serious color change, folks! And what a color! I have to say that it's totally unique to my stash, which is always impressive with over 2000 polishes. I love this. Love it. I would happily spend my life with this polish (although let's be honest...I love polish. I'd totally cheat on her with another polish and then we'd just end up in a messy divorce).

Peachy King's Formula is fabulous. I honestly could not find fault with it at all. No thickening, no random chunks of pigment, no wonky glitters. Application was equally amazing with no dragging, balding, clumps of glitters etc. This girl also self levelled incredibly well, which is always a bonus. Opacity is really up to you - in her cold state, PK is fully opaque at 1-2 coats. In her warm state, she's rather sheer even with 3 coats. I don't mind some mild VNL when a polish is this beautiful though. Dry time was fast even before top coat, and PK does not dry textured at all.

This is the 4th Candied Lustre thermal that I've tried now and I have to tell ya, Bri makes a serious Thermal. If you haven't tried them yet, you are totally missing out.

Peachy King (and it's 3 sisters, which I have coming up over the next 1-2 days) are not yet available (release date TBA), but you can check out all of Bri's awesome polishes at Candied Lustre on Etsy. Daring Digits For The Children Collection - Swatches and Review (yes, the whole collection!) PIC HEAVY!

Hello Lovelies! I've been MIA for the past few days and today I get to show you why!

First, let's talk randomness. I will be starting the BG Cosmetics giveaway tomorrow. I haven't forgotten! Also, my left hand is about to make its return! My nubbins are now at a decent enough length for me to swatch with them again! I will still be showing my stilettos, just not exclusively. I have yet to decide if I will keep my left hand square, or go for full stilettos nails, but they're not long enough to decide just yet.

I'm also going to be posting over the next few days, but behind the scenes I will be sporting all naked nails. We all know how much I struggle with my cuticles. It's insane. I have ver hard to control cuticles and they're just getting worse. They have never truly recovered from the allergic reaction to that flowery lotion, so they're still all dry and swollen. I've been using intense lighting and a skin smoothing setting to help with the appearance in photos, but I'm just fed up.  Everything I use seems to make it worse, especially oils and balms with Almond Oil. I'm not allergic, but those seem to make my cuticles all puffy and although they look moist, the second I wash my hands they're insanely dry and flaky. UGH! My nails are also dry and angry, so I decided to try out Pure Nail Oil. I'm sure you've seen this stuff all over FB and blogs, and the results people have had with this stuff are amazing. I'm hoping it works half as well on me. I'll be taking photos and sharing my progress with Pure sometime next week.

Now that I've babbled on...who wants to see some polish?? :)

Last week my awesome friend Ashley of Daring Digits fame sent me her upcoming "For The Children" collection to swatch for her. This project was time sensitive, so I took a few days off so I could focus on swatching these, as well as pull myself together emotionally.

I don't usually show full collections together, mostly because of time constraints, but since I have them all swatched and ready to go, and I am so excited about this collection, I'm sharing all 5 of these beauties today. Needless to say, this is a very Pic heavy post.

The For The Children Collection is a very special collection. It is inspired by El Ranchito De Los Ninos, an alternative home in Los Lunas, NM. El Ranchito de Los Ninos is a wonderful organization, offering an alternative to Foster Care where kids (especially siblings) can grow and thrive in a wonderful farm environment. I especially love that they work so hard to keep siblings together instead of them being torn apart within the foster care system. This place is amazing, and runs 100% off donations from business, charities, and personal donations. They have no state funding, so donations are critical. For every polish sold, $3.00 will be donated to El Ranchito De Los Ninos. How awesome is that?

So let's take a look at these beauties!

First up is Sugar & Spice. You remember the poem right? Little girls are made of Sugar & Spice, right? This polish is a simply stunning blend of Deep Gray and Copper flakies in a beautiful Pink jelly base. One of my all time faves.

This is 3 thin coats of Sugar & Spice topped with HK Girl Top Coat:

Look at that! Tell me that is not stunning....*happy sigh*. This reminds me of the Speckled polishes that are out right now. Although in all honestly, I like this better. The tiny flakies really make this something special, and the combination of that deep gray and copper? Breathtaking.

Formula and application were amazing. This polish almost applied itself! It is a touch sheer, so you will need 3 thin coats or 2 thicker coats for opacity. Or you could layer over a similar pink. Either way, this is a must have.

Next is Snips & Snails.

From the very same poem as Sugar & Spice, this part taught us that little boys are made of Snips & Snails (and puppy dog tails!). This polish is the sister polish to Sugar & Spice in almost every way. Snips & Snails has the same awesome mix of dark gray and copper flakies, but boasts a beautiful olive-toned green base.

This is 3 thin coats of Snips & Snail topped with HK Girl Top Coat:

*Swoon*! How freakin' gorgeous is this polish!?!?  I adore this s hade of green (even though it funkifies my skin tone), and those flakies! LOVE!

Snips & Snails has the same formula as Sugar & Spice, which, again, is pure perfection. These 2 polishes have one of the best formulas I have ever used, out of all my polishes. It's truly amazing. Application is a breeze as well. Snips & Snails is a touch more sheer than Sugar & Spice, but I used very thin coats and the VNL is not obvious IRL. Thicker coats would obviously increase opacity or layering over a similar color.


Next up is Watching Clouds, a mesmerizing sky blue jelly packed with different sized white hex glitters and blue microglitters. This is so incredibly beuatiful that I spent a ridiculous amount of time staring at my nails. I won't lie - I think this is my fave from this collection, although I love them all.

This is 3 thin coats of Watching Clouds, topped with NPB Glitter Food and HK Girl Top Coat:

Again with the "Wow!"! I am so in love with this polish that it's ridiculous. I swatched this one last so that I could wear it for awhile. I knew that once I had it on my nails, I would not be able to take it off! Check out all those white glitters! This polish really looks like fluffy white clouds on the nail. Just incredible.

Watching Clouds also has a wonderful formula. Perfect consistency with no thickening. Application was a breeze with no dragging or balding. The glitters are quite heavy and will settle during shipping, but just tip the bottle upside down for a bit and voila! Tons of glitter with no fishing. The glitters also lay flat on the nail, which is always a bonus with larger glitters.  Due to those awesome large glitters, Watching Clouds does dry slightly textured. A coat of Glitter Food smoothed things out perfectly and ensure those large glitters stayed nice and safe! Bottom line? YOU NEED THIS!

Next up we have Where The Heart Is, a beautiful glitter topper full off Pink glitters, silver holographic microglitters, and Pink, Purple/Fuchsia, and Silver holographic Hearts. This is such a beautiful and soft glitter topper!

This is 2 coats of Where The Heart Is layered over Sinful Colors Gel Shine in Spitfire:

Love! I adore the multiple shades of heart glitters mixed with the pink and holo glitters. So soft and beautiful while still eye-catching.

Where The Heart is was easy-peasy to work with, with no thickening, dragging or balding. The heart glitters can be a touch tricky, but just tip the bottle upside down for a few minutes before polishing and you won't have any problems grabbing a bunch of them. I actually had to be careful not to grab too many! This beauty does dry a bit textured due to the large hearts, but a coat of Glitter Food smoothed my nails out perfectly. This is another must have for any collection. So versatile and how can you resist hearts?


Last, but certainly not least, we have Family. I cannot even begin to describe this glitter! It is packed with so many different kinds and shapes of glitters, including black hexes, green moons, Silver holo rhombus, SIlver holo hearts, stars, red matte hexes, fuchsia round glitters, blue and silver microglitters....the list goes on! You really have to see this girl to get the feel for her.

This is 2 coats of Family layered over Essie DJ Play That Song:

Squee!! Check out all that glitter!!!!!!!!! Is this not one of the coolest glitter mixes ever?? I'm particularly fond of the moons, stars, and the larger, chunky glitters. This is a definite new fave.

Family was incredibly easy to apply, given the sheer amount of glitters, a lot of them large glitters. I had no issues with dragging of my base color, and the glitters lay flat on the nail. There was zero fishing required, but since the large glitters are heavy and will settle, I recommend tipping your bottle upside down for a few minutes to bring them back to the top. Obviously Family has some texture to it, so I added a coat of NPB Glitter Food to smooth things out before top coating. I love this glitter like crazy. I really dig it with this base color, but it's so colorful that you really can't pick a bad base color. If you are a fan of chunky glitters, then you must have this baby!


I am deeply in love with this entire collection. There is not a single polish that is not just beautiful. Every single polish has a wonderful formula and they all applied easily. I'm also thrilled with the variety of polishes in this collection. And flakies? Who doesn't love flakies, right? I have to say, this is one of y fave collections ever. Ashley really outdid herself!

The "For The Children Collection" will be available at DDPolish.com starting on 5/10/2013. Full sized polishes will sell for $9.50 each, and the full collection will be available for $45. Shipping within the U.S. is free, and $3.00  flat rate for Canada. I'm not sure if and when these will be available on Mei Mei's, but I'll keep you posted. In the meantime, for those of you that are international, if you want to get your hands on these, let me know and I'll see what I can work out.
