Morning all! Today is Day 23 of the 31 Day Challenge, and the debut of my new nubbies! A few forces of the universe combined this week, leading to my nubbinization. Not only did I have wonky curling on a few nails, but I also chipped off a corner yesterday morning, leading to shorter nubbins than I had anticipated. However, I dig them! I love long nails, and I do plan to grow mine out again, but sometimes I really enjoy being able to do things with my hands and not have to worry about tearing off a nail or scratching my son inadvertently. Plus I am a firm believer that short nails can be sexy and refuse to stop blogging just because I had to take my length down. After all, aren't we here for the polish? Having said that, onto the mani!
Today's challenge is 'Inspired By A Movie". When I first did this challenge last year, this was the first movie that popped into my mind, and it returned this time around as well. This is one of my fave movies (my husband's too!), and hubby and I can recite the entire movie. It's silly, never fails to make me laugh, and just perks up any foul mood in my house.
I give you......Talladega Nights, The Ballad of Ricky Bobby!
Look at those pudgy lil nubbins!
For this mani I started with a base of Milani White On The Spot, then dotted with different sized dotting tools in Sally Hansen Mellow Yellow, Hard Candy Fishnet, and Orly Shockwave. The colors and dots are for Ricky Bobby's Wonder Bread Car. The accent nail has some randomly stamped flames using Shockwave and Fishnet with Ricky's number "26" freehanded over them in red and yellow. Not perfect, but I love how it came out and it makes me smile, which is good with 2 sick kids and a raging headache.
Here's a quick TN clip if for some reason you're unfamliar:
What's one of your fave movies? Would you wear it on your nails?

31 Day Challenge (v.2!) Day 9: Rainbow Nails
Morning Ladies! It's day 9 of the challenge, and I have to tell you guys, I was so uninspired here. I love Rainbow manis on other people, but I don't like them on me for some reason. I had come up with a few ideas, but didn't like them once I had them done, so I would end up removing them and starting over. In the end, I went with some good old stamping and called it a day.
I don't think this turned out too bad, although my yellow just would not cooperate and kept smearing all over the plate. Unfortunately it's the only opaque yellow I own, so I was stuck with its wonky smeariness. Thankfully IRL they don't look bad at all, but in macro mode? Eh, they're kinda messy where the yellow blends (or actually refused to blend) in. But hey, It's rainbow and it's on time so that's a win in my book!
For thishot mess mani I used Sinful's Snow Me White as my base, then used Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear in Cherry Red, Sun Kissed, and Mellow Yellow. The Green is Sinful's Envy, and the Blue is Essence Walk On Air.
The funny thing is that this mani ended up growing on me despite the evil yellow (Remember our yellow manis and how lost of us had issues with our yellow polish? I swear yellow is just evil!). In fact, I'm still wearing it! It's coming off later today since I am expecting some birthday stamping plates and polishes, but it was actually kind of fun to wear something I wouldn't normally wear.
Anyway, here is my less than stellar Rainbow Mani in all it's glory!
It's not too bad, right? Not my best work but hey. After 2 failed attempts this was all I had left in me. I do not haz mad Rainbow skillz! ;)
Be sure to check out the rest of the Varnished Vixens Rainbow Manis! Hopefully they didn't have as many issues as I did!

31 Day Challenge. Day 20: Water Marble!
Don't have a lot of time to post tonight since I am nursing an injured dog. Our 120lb Labradane injured her leg last night and we are having to nurse her giant butt back to health. Good thing I spent so many years as a Veterinary Technician with a specialty in Orthopaedic Surgery huh?
Anyway, this mani received a ton of attention while I was out and about today; more than any other mani have ever done! Maybe it's because it's so bright that you can't miss it, but I think it came out pretty awesome for only my second attempt at water marbling!
For this mani I used Sally Hansen White Out as my base, then water marbled with Sally Hansen Black Out, Mellow Yellow, and Sun Kissed as well as Confetti The Red Carpet. I created a pointy little flower pattern to make it look a bit like flames, and this is my result:
Indoors In Natural Light:
And a rare right hand shot! Don't laugh at my nubbins! :)
I dunno about you guys, but I LOVE this mani! Taking it off will suck! The one little imperfection on my pointer makes me a tad nuts tho. I accidentally touched my orange stick to my nail while pulling my middle finger out of the water and there was no way to fix it. Makes me crazy tho!
Tonight is the start of the Inspiration portion of the challenge, and man I am excited and afraid. Tonight's challenge is "Inspired by a color". What does that even mean? Colors hold a lot of meaning to me, so I guess I'll just go with my mood and call that Inspiration. :)
Happy Polishing!
