Halloween Stamping With Bunny Nails Plates

Hola!!

Polish TBH Girl Please Collection - Hard Candy

Hello lovelies! My apologies for the late post today. I had an IEP meeting for my daughter this morning and those tend to be long. That's usually my posting time, so I had to wait for some free time this afternoon to post.

Today I have the final polish from the Polish TBH "Girl Please" Collection. This one is called Hard Candy, and man! It is awesome! How I Troll is a definite fave from this collection, but Hard Candy is certainly tied. I really can't decide which one I like best, and The other 4 polishes all run a close second. In all honesty, I love every single polish that Polish TBH has released. I'd be hard pressed to choose if I had to own just one.

Hard Candy is unique since it is available in 2 bases: clear, or a milky white. It's also a glitter bomb - filled with black, gold, and rose pink glitters. I'm showing you the white based version (I love them both, but the white base just really does it for me!).

Hard Candy also really reminds me of another "Blonde Rebel": Madonna. Obviously there is her album "Hard Candy", which outside of Confessions on A Dance Floor totally defined a period of my life. Actually, if there were a soundtrack to my life, it would be mostly Madonna. Even as I look at this baby on my nails now, I really do think of Madonna. Love it!

All photos are 2 coats of Hard Candy topped with HK Girl Top Coat:

Just beautiful. I knew I would love this as soon as I opened the package, but I didn't realize just how much I would love it!

Formula:
As with all Polish TBH Creations, Hard Candy's formula was perfection. Always usable straight from the bottle, there was no thickening during use, no glopping or gooping, and no clumpy glitters.

Application:
Despite being a hunky glitter bomb, Hard Candy applies smooth as silk. I had zero issues with application, even on the first coat. The glitters distributed perfectly and lay flat on the nail, so no need for Gelous or Glitter Food with this girl. 2 coats to perfect opacity.

Hard Candy has really won me over. I love how original this is for a milky white based polish (thankfully we're seeing more original white based glitters now!) and in all honesty, I don't want to take this off!! I've been wearing this as a full mani for almost 2 days now - and I have minimal tip wear and zero chips.

Polish TBH is the brainchild of the incredibly talented Christian. All of her creations are 3-free and cruelty free (and you really need to have these!). You can find Polish TBH on etsy, and full size bottles retail for $8, minis for $4.  How I Troll is the exception, selling for $9.00/full size and $4.50/mini. Full sets of the Girl Please Collection are still available for $36 for full sized and $18.50 for minis (I recommend getting them by the set....you don't want to have to choose!) While you're there, be sure to check out the Fantasy Collection!

What do you think of Hard Candy? Do you have a fave Polish TBH creation?

Be sure to stay tuned for the mystery Sally Hansen Lustre Chrome, more BG Cosmetics, and some awesome new products from Daring Digits!!

Thanks for stopping by and Happy Polishing!

Polish TBH Fantasy Collection: Circus

Hello fellow lacquerheads! I've been swamped with the kiddos the past couple of days and haven't had much swatch time. I'm working on getting as much done as I can during the week, but my normal swatch days are Sundays. Please be patient, I'll be posting daily still but one polish at a time until I can catch up on Sunday. I have a ton of Indie polish to share with you all! They're worth the wait, but I'm antsy to share them! I have more Twenty Seven Polish, Polish TBH, Glitzology, and A England as well as some newer brands coming your way over the next 2 weeks.

Today I have a fabulous polish from an awesome Indie brand, Polish TBH.  I received 5 polishes from the Fantasy Collection yesterday and let me tell you...I am in love! Today's polish is Circus, a beautiful mix of Red Hex glitter and gold microglitter suspended in a sky blue jelly base. This combination is so gorgeous! I love the combination of Red and gold with the sky blue jelly - a great alternative to the sheer white with glitter that has been so popular lately.

Being a light blue jelly, Circus is fairly sheer so I chose to layer it over a polish with the exact same blue - Hard Candy Sky. In these photos I'm wearing 2 coats of Circus over 2 coats of Sky, topped with Seche Vite. Please excuse my weird skin tone - the polish is color accurate but my lighting does weird things with my skin tone! :)

*mega swoon*! This polish is soooo beautiful! Look at that shimmer! LOVE!! I adore this shade of blue, and combined with the red and gold glitter? Magic!

Formula:
Although Indie polish tends to be fairly thick, Circus wasn't as thick as I had expected. This works to its benefit though since it is a jelly. No thickening during use, no glopping or gooping, and no clumps of glitter.

Application:
Circus was a dream to apply. This girl flowed smoothly onto the nail with just the right mount of color and glitter. No need to fish for glitter, although my bottle did settle a bit during shipping. I just tipped it over for a bit, gave it a little shake and it was good to go. The glitter also lays flat on the nail, and doesn't clump a the free edge. Keep in mind this is not meant to be anywhere near a heavy glitter, so it's normal to only pick up a few pieces on the brush. Dry time was impressive as well, even without a coat of SV this was nearly dry to the touch after about 5-8 minutes. Overall, this polish has some of the nicest application out there.

I am so impressed with Polish TBH and I cannot wait to show you the other 4 pretties.  The entire collection is unique, with Circus being the brightest and happiest color of all. This is certainly a stand-out polish and money well spent. You can bet your hiney I'll be wearing this baby whenever I can. In fact, I do believe I hear a backup bottle calling my name!

Polish TBH is 3 Free and is available on Etsy here, or by visiting http//www.etsy.com/shop/polishtbh. Full size bottles retail for $8.00, minis $4.00, and duos $15.00. Keep an eye out for a new collection coming soon!

I cannot rave about Polish TBH enough. For me, its right up there with my faves, Twenty Seven Polish and A-England. The Fantasy Collection is breathtaking, and from what I have seen of the upcoming collection, unique and stunning polish will certainly be standard here.

What do you think of Circus? Are you a fan of sheer, jelly bases? (I am!)

Thanks for stopping by and Happy (Indie) Polishing!

31 Day Challenge (v.2!) Day 23: Inspired by a Movie!

Morning all! Today is Day 23 of the 31 Day Challenge, and the debut of my new nubbies! A few forces of the universe combined this week, leading to my nubbinization. Not only did I have wonky curling on a few nails, but I also chipped off a corner yesterday morning, leading to shorter nubbins than I had anticipated. However, I dig them! I love long nails, and I do plan to grow mine out again, but sometimes I really enjoy being able to do things with my hands and not have to worry about tearing off a nail or scratching my son inadvertently. Plus I am a firm believer that short nails can be sexy and refuse to stop blogging just because I had to take my length down. After all, aren't we here for the polish? Having said that, onto the mani!

Today's challenge is 'Inspired By A Movie". When I first did this challenge last year, this was the first movie that popped into my mind, and it returned this time around as well. This is one of my fave movies (my husband's too!), and hubby and I can recite the entire movie. It's silly, never fails to make me laugh, and just perks up any foul mood in my house.

I give you......Talladega Nights, The Ballad of Ricky Bobby!

Look at those pudgy lil nubbins!

For this mani I started with a base of Milani White On The Spot, then dotted with different sized dotting tools in Sally Hansen Mellow Yellow, Hard Candy Fishnet, and Orly Shockwave. The colors and dots are for Ricky Bobby's Wonder Bread Car. The accent nail has some randomly stamped flames using Shockwave and Fishnet with Ricky's number "26" freehanded over them in red and yellow. Not perfect, but I love how it came out and it makes me smile, which is good with 2 sick kids and a raging headache.

Here's a quick TN clip if for some reason you're unfamliar:

What's one of your fave movies? Would you wear it on your nails?

31 Day Challenge (v.2!) Day 17: Glitter!!

Morning Ladies! Welcome to Day 17 of (our version) of the 31 Day Challenge!

Today's Challenge is glittah!!! I have to tell ya, this mani took FOREVER! Not because it was hard, but because my day yesterday was rotten to the core, and everything that could go wrong, did. In fact, about 3/4 through this mani, I was crawling around on a dirty Walgreens floor hunting for the expensive Android phone that my daughter had randomly placed in our cart, and had either slipped out onto the floor (and was taken) or just plain stolen out of the cart. Fun right? *grumbles*

I did actually manage to finish this mani......at 10:30 pm. Considering I started at 10:00 am, well, that may give you an idea of how freakishly bad my day was. However, glitter makes everything better, right?

I had a really hard time deciding what to use for this mani, but in the end my need for something fun won out. I chose Hard Candy The End, a straight, glossy black, as my base, and Spoiled By Wet N Wild's Pirate's Booty for the glitter. Pirate's Booty is a gorgeous combination of gold and orange microglitter in a clear base. I don't wear a lot of gold for some strange reason, but this glitter called to me when the Spoiled line came out. It's very sparse, and I needed 3 (count 'em, 3!) coats for this mani. Not a great full coverage glitter, but I'll bet it would look rockin' over a deep Burgundy.

I used scotch tape for the design, and sealed everything off with Seche Vite. I have to admit that this is one of my fave designs and I was itching to wear it in Black and Gold. This Challenge was the perfect excuse! I will confess that I skimped on the tip wrap on some of the coats of SV between the base color and final coat, but hey....if it's only seen in macro mode, it's still alright. ;)

I am loving this. It's been a while since I've been this happy with how a mani turned out.  My lines aren't perfectly aligned, but it's close enough for my nail OCD to be okay with it. ;)

What do you think of this design? (Erica from Chloe's Nails does it the best!)

Be sure to check out all the Varnished Vixens and their glittery manis today!

Hard Candy- Beetle (duochrome)

Hola!!!

Hard Candy: Mr. Right

Heya Ladies! Happy Friday!!

Since I've been doing alot of nail art/stamping lately, I decided that I needed something gorgeous, yet simple for today. About a month ago I hauled some Hard Candy polishes, but had yet to wear any. They're all amazing colors, but there are 2 that really stood out.

I love blue polish. It's my very favorite color to wear on my nails, so it's no surprise that the polish I chose to wear first out of all 10 Hard Candy's that I grabbed is a blue. And what a blue it is! Mr. Right is an absolutely stunning, super saturated sapphire blue shimmer. It is gorgeous in any lighting and at every angle. I love a blue with depth, and this girl did not disappoint in the least.

Details:
1 coat OPI Nail Envy Matte
2 coats Hard Candy Mr Right
1 coat Seche Vite

LOVE LOVE LOVE! I adore a sapphire blue polish, and I think this may be my very fave in my entire stash. This baby will certainly be worn alot!

Formula:
Like Buttah! It did thicken up a bit during application, but nothing a little shake didn't fix.

Application:
This girl did apply pretty streaky at first, but evened out perfectly on the second coat. My only real issue with this is the brush, and that's only because it is the tiniest, thinnest brush ever. It didn't fan out well at all, so it took a bit longer to polish and I had to be very careful.

If you can get your hands on this girl, DO IT! You won't regret it.

Thanks for stopping by and Happy Polishing!

30 Days of Blue: Maybelline Blue Brilliance

Hi guys! Hope you all had a great weekend! In the grand tradition of getting sick every damned time I have ever quit smoking, I ended up sick this morning. Feels like a respiratory infection, which is what usually happens. I try to stop abusing my lungs and they repay me by reminding me who is boss. It feels like I'm breathing through fiberglass and every time I cough I swear I'm hacking up a cheese grater, so this will be short and sweet.

I'm actually surprised I managed to do a mani tonight. I had planned on working on a water marble this morning, but wasn't up to it. But even sick I can't have naked nails, so I decided a little layering wouldn't kill me.

Awhile back I picked up Maybelline's Blue Brilliance and have been dying to wear it. However, it's incredibly sheer, which is sad since in the bottle it is a gorgeous soft blue with pink, purple, and green duochrome flashes. All was not lost however since layered over a light blue, this baby is still very pretty. The duochrome barely translates, but the color is gorgeous, despite the formula being a sheer, brush-strokey devil and the brush being made from something that resembles broom bristles. I chose to layer Blue Brilliance over Hard Candy Sky, a beautiful baby blue creme with silvery shimmer. Unfortunately Sky ( at least this is the case with my bottle) needs a good 3 coats, so my mani is a bit streaky and less than perfect. Which means I'll be changing polish just as soon as I feel like something human again!

2 coats of Maybelline Blue Brilliance over Hard Candy Sky:

Not what the bottle promised, but not a total letdown either. I think the color is gorgeous, and with the right underwear, this polish is very promising.

I'm off to bed to rest before it's time to start my week. Hope you all are well!

Happy Polishing!

31 Day Challenge, Day 11: Polka Dots!

For this mani, I wanted to do something a little different. I didn't want to do the standard polka dots. I took my inspiration from Erika over at Chloe's Nails, since I just love her matte and shiny manis. Hell, I love ALL her manis! Her site is one of the first that I found when I started on my nail polish fetish journey, and I still go to her site (as well as Manicure Addict and a few others) when I'm lacking inspiration. So this is my ode to Erika mani, and even though she might cringe at my lack of dotting skills, I'm pretty proud that I managed to make something that resembled polka dots! This is only my second time making dots of any kind using my dotting tools, so please forgive my not even close to uniform dots. I'm still learning.

For this mani I chose Wet N Wild Black Creme as my base, used Hard Candy Matte-ly in love to matte my black polish, and then dotted using the same Wet N Wild Black Creme polish. I love the contrast between matte and shiny! The pictures are not that awesome since I had to play with the lighting in order for the dots to show up, and my cuticles look horrid since I couldn't moisturize or the matte would disappear (you know what I mean). But enough babbling, let's get to some pics!

I must work on my dotting skills! But overall I think it came out ok. What do you guys think?

Tonight I'll be working on stripes. Man, I am not good at stripes! I may do a tape mani just so my lines aren't all over the place! I wish I could freehand well, but my hand tends to be highly uncooperative when I try. It's like it knows I want my lines to be perfect, so it just purposely defies me! Funny since I can freehand on paper. I'm also having a hard time picking colors for stripes. I want to use colors I don't normally use, but I keep drifting back to blue. I am addicted to blue polish. I need an intervention.

Happy Polishing!
