Hello Lovelies! Please excuse my random disappearance - Somehow my keyboard on my Macbook was given a drink of water while I wasn't looking and I was sans keyboard for a bit there. The external USB keyboard that I usually use was also doused, and is still out of commission, but the tiny macbook keyboard is working again, which is better than nothing. At least I am able to post.

In other news, I had a flare up of the evil lungs over the weekend (if you follow me on Instagram (@KimbersKorner) you already know how thrilled I was to be denied care by my Pulmonologist since I am currently in between health insurance coverage. On top of that, Monday afternoon I arrived at a long time client's house for the final day of her pet sit, to find that one of her dogs had passed away overnight. Thankfully being a vet tech for 8 years has steeled me for the death of furry friends, yet this one hit me incredibly hard. It appears that he was either bit or stung (he had a history of severe anaphalactic reactions) and in the hours between visits he passed. Calling his owner was one of the hardest things I have ever done. Thankfully she is a wonderful person and knows how high our standard of care is so she doesn't blame us, however I still feel responsible. Chances are that without an EpiPen, even had I been there I would not have been able to save him, but the what ifs will always be there. What's worse, is that my bond with this dog was deep, and I feel his loss very deeply.

See? 2013 is the worst year ever for me, and just keeps getting worse. I can't wait to see it roll away.

But let's talk about happy things, shall we?

Today I have an awesome polish from Mint Polish to share. I've been wanting to try out Mint Polish for good while, and was lucky enough to win a giveaway on Instagram. The shade I won is called Full Bodied, and is a gorgeous Oxblood Jelly. I fell in love with this shade the moment I saw her on Instagram, and a few days later, entered the giveaway to win her. I was shocked that I won, but oh so thrilled. Not only did winning allow me to try a brand that I've been dying to check out, but I won the vampy polish of my dreams! A huge thank you to Mint Polish!

You'll also notice the return of my left hand! It's back to swatch shape again, so I'm sure you'll be seeing it from time to time. I prefer to photograph my right hand, but since I *am* right handed, sometimes the left hand is just easier.

This is 3 coats of the fabulous Full Bodied topped with HK Girl Top Coat:

Rawr! I dare you to tell me that this is not the sexiest oxblood jelly ever! I'll be honest, I rarely love a color enough to wear it without glitter or nail art, but I've been wearing this for 3 days now, all on her lonesome. So much love for this polish!

Full Bodied's formula is just as impressive as its color, with a thick yet fluid consistency that doesn't thicken up during use. Application was so easy that this polish may as well have applied itself - no dragging, balding, or streaking - which is always a huge bonus with such a dark jelly polish. Full Bodied is opaque at 2 coats, although I used 3 since my photo lighting is very strong and tends to make Jellies look much sheerer than they truly are. Dry time was fast, and Full Bodied is incredibly shiny, even without top coat. I, being the impatient creature that I am, did use my beloved HK Girl Top Coat though, which made this girl even shinier. Wear is simply amazing - I'm on day 3 of wearing this beauty and I have zero tip wear or chips, the shine is still just as dazzling and the color just as rich and vibrant.

I love this polish so very much, loves. I simply must try more from Mint Polish (this is why I need to win the lottery - my budget is a cruel, cruel mistress.)! With a formula this fabulous, amazing application and incredible wear, I just have to have more. And the colors! Mint Polish makes some seriously dazzling colors!

Try It On Tuesday - Ultra-slacker edition! Fandom Cosmetics Pass Me By

Hello lovelies! Man, is this post late. I swear I can't seem to get anything done on time lately. I actually spent yesterday doing some shopping with my mom, so I wasn't able to even photograph this mani until late last night. Normally I would've edited and posted this first thing in the morning, but I had to finish up my challenge mani. Which was uncooperative. So I 86'd my first attempt and started over. Still didn't like my second try, so I went for a third. I literally spend all my free time today trying to create a challenge mani that I could tolerate for more than 10 minutes.

I did not succeed. Clumpy polishes, disappearing acrylic paints, and a design that isn't really me does not make for great challenge mani. I'm posting the third one, since I just don't have the time to try anything else at this point, but I'll warn you all that ir's not my best work.

But let's focus on something other than my evil, uncooperative challenge mani! Today I have one more polish from the Daft Punk inspired collection that Fandom Cosmetics created for me. Part of me just wants to post the pics and not even bother with the review part since it's obvious that I am biased and would love this even if it was made with liquid crack.

One of the very first ideas that I ran past Ketlyn was a polish inspired by Derezzed, from Tron Legacy. When I think of Derezzed, the first thing I see happens to be Guy and Thomas' cameo. I really love the look and feel of the helmets/suits, and wanted those colors to be the focal point of this polish. The same colors are dominant in the video, so I figured it would work out well.  So, I sent Kett these pics:

First of all, let's just take a moment to bask in the glory that is the Robots.  Particularly Guy-Manuel. Nothing against Thomas, but Guy-Man has always been more my speed. Are you basking yet? BASK, I SAY!

Okay, now that we're done basking - Obviously Ketlyn is a genius, and within days had this baby all ready to go. I swear, it's like the woman puts Jpegs in a blender and they come out as polish.

So this is my very fave of the RAM Collection - Pass Me By (Inspired by Derezzed), a glitter bomb loaded with every shade and shape of blue glitter imaginable. There's also some iridescent glitters hiding in there, which give it that slight hint of grey, and holo glitter since...well, because it's holographic and that's all the reason we really need, right?

I really wanted to play up the greyed out blue, so I layered Pass Me By over China Glaze Sea Spray. The result made me all sorts of happy and bouncy. Hey, Daft Punk is my crack. I admit it.

This is a single coat of Pass Me By over Sea Spray, topped with NPB Glitter Food and HK Girl Top Coat:

*Drools* There is a reason this is my fave - and it's not just because Derezzed is one of my fave songs ever....Look at all that glitter! The colors are perfect, the shapes and sizes of the glitter work well together and aren't completely overwhelming. And check the holo effect, yo. *Swoons*

What? You're expecting a macro shot? Well, who am I to disappoint!

Derezzed in a bottle, I tell you. And serious happy, happy, joy, joy for Kimber.

Pass Me By's formula is glittery heaven. I don't know how Kett does it, but her glitters are never clumpy or overly thick. Application was easy peasy - since this is a glitter bomb there's no need to hand place glitter, and these babies spread out evenly right away and lay down nice and flat. Dry time (before top coat) was wicked fast, and wear is excellent with not one single glitter out of place after 36 hours. Pass Me By is a bit textured since it's a bonafide glitter bomb, but a quick coat of Glitter Food smoothed this girl out perfectly.

This is actually the second to last polish from the RAM Collection, and I'm actually a bit sad! But the final polish is a pretty epic beauty, and I'm looking forward to sharing it soon.

Try It On Tuesday - Sally Hansen Sugar Coat in Sour Apple

Hello Lovelies! Well, it seems that I totally underestimated just how busy I would be today, so I have another late night post for you. I'm really hoping that I'm able to post during daylight hours tomorrow, but the way things are going, I'm not convinced. Every day several surprise errands keep popping up, and they're not small errands either. I'm starting to think I need a clone.

Also, I want to warn you all the my poor fingers are a bit inflamed. I had a bad reaction to some cuticle balm (I'm out of my beloved Pure since I managed to lose the bottle. Thankfully a new on is on its way!!!) so the skin around my nails is still a bit swollen. I was a genius and tried it out again last night to see if it really is the balm, or if it's something else I've been using, and lo and behold! it's the balm. Ugh. My poor cuticles and skin are already so dry and grumpy without Pure, this is just insult to injury!

For this week's Try It On Tuesday, I just had to wear one of my textured polishes. Darn it, I love these polishes, and I have a ton, yet I rarely get to wear them. TIOT is the perfect excuse to give these babies some love!

Today's pretty is Sour Apple from Sally Hansen's Sugar Coat line of textured polish. I honestly could not decide which one of these to wear, so I asked IG, and this color actually won out. I'm pretty pleased with that since Sour Apple is a beautiful Mint texture - the perfect shade of mint green I do believe.

This is 2 thin coats, no top coat:

Yeah, I think I dig this polish. I DO NOT dig this stupid swelling and dry cuticles and skin! Again, let me tell you how much I love my Pure Nail Oil and am so happy that it's on the way. Being without it sucks!!!!!!

Anyway, I love Sour Apple. The color is fabulous, even if it does bring out my olive undertones! Formula was a bit on the thick side, so I added a few drops of thinner and voila! Much better! Application was a bit tricky until I added the thinner- lots of dragging and balding and very hard to get the polish to spread out to the sides of the nail. Once I added the thinner though, I had no problems. The texture can be a bit finicky - I had to re-do my ring and pinky since the texture didn't really show on the first try. I had to shake the bottle really well and swirl my brush around in the polish to make sure I had alot of those little texture beads in order to ensure that those two nails would dry as textured as the rest.  Dry time is fairly fast, and wear is excellent, considering this is supposed to be worn sans top coat.  I do feel the need to mention that despite being a pastel, this baby is a stainer. I tend to polish close to my cuticles, which means that when I clean up, my brush will usually smear some polish along my cuticle and I'll have to go over it again to clean that off. In those few moments between swipes, the green managed to settle into my cuticles and leave a slight green cast. Those little texture beads are a bit of a pain as well - spreading all over during clean up and really sticking into cuticles.

Despite the semi-tricky application and initially thick formula, I really love these. I have a good 12 of them, so I'm sure you'll be seeing these pop up often on TIOT. Of course, that means that I have to pick a color, which is near impossible for me. If you have a Sugar Coat that you'd like to see, by all means let me know.

Try It Out Tuesday - Kleancolor Holo Chrome

Hello lovelies! Happy Try It Out Tuesday! Well, it would be happy, except.....dun dun dun....remember that silly nail on my right index finger that just does not want to live? Yeah, that's the one that had alot of sidewall filed away when I had stilettos...It also had a crack that I was patching awhile back, so it really had several issues. The crack was finally a non issue and it was growing out nicely, except the sidewall on one side was filed inward at the tip, and growing normally alongside the nail bed, creating a weird ledge of sorts. Last night that ledge gave way at the free edge and wham! Lost a good mm again. Thankfully that finally gets rid of all the fallout from over filing those sidewalls and I can let that nail even out with the rest. If it was any other nail, I'd be taking them all down to nubs again, but since it's my index nail and it's kinda tucked back in photos, I can work with it. Won't take long at all if I keep the other nails at this length and just let that one grow, grow, grow.

For today's TIOT polish, I chose Kleancolor Holo Chrome, a flipping gorgeous silvery blue holo glitter polish. I had planned on going in an entirely different direction, but as I was snuggling with my son, I realized that I was really in the mood for some holo glitter. I had a few choices, so I made my hubby pick. My indecision regarding polish is legendary - before I decided I want holo sparklies, I made poor Gini pick from the 4 polishes I had set out!

This is 3 coats of Holo Chrome topped with HK Girl Top Coat. Check the poor index nail - send it some happy vibes so it develops the will to live!!!

Man, oh man, is that pretty! Just what I was craving - gorgeous color with tons of glittery holo. This polish was a bday gift from my brother (from another mother) last year. I cannot believe it's taken me this long to wear it! The holo effect isn't in it's full glory here since these were taken in my light box (Storm is rolling it so no sunlight), but in sunlight this is all sorts of sparkly and holo! Here, have a slightly blurry macro so you can get an idea of the potential here.

Still pretty, and gives you a general idea of how much holo glitter is packed into this puppy. So pretty!

Holo Chrome's formula, however, was slightly problematic. And I hate saying that, but it's not like I can email Kleancolor and give them a chance to improve it before I post about it, right? This girl seemed okay during application - a little bit of dragging but nothing major- however it literally took all flipping night to dry. ALL NIGHT! ANd that's with a super quick dry topcoat and the thinnest coats possible. Speaking of thin coats, you kind of have to go as thin as possible with this one, otherwise it will develop some thick, gloppy spots - not alot of self levelling going on here. It's also a bit of a top coat eater. I only used one coat of HK Girl here, and once my nails (finally) dried, they were still fairly textured. I don't mind a bit of texture to these types of glitters, but if you like a smooth surface, you definitely want to double up on the top coat. I don't recommend glitter food with these holos since GF is thick and dries matte - it does dull down the holo a bit.

I'm pretty torn on this one. I LOVE the color and sparkle with this polish, but the dry time really turns me off. Had I applied this during the day I guarantee that I would've destroyed this manicure within minutes. I think these Kleancolor Holos will definitely be used when I can polish at night versus during the day.

Try It Out Tuesday (Slacker Wednesday Edition!): Smitten Polish Hocus Pocus!!

Hello Lovelies! Well, obviously I am a big weenie and never managed to post my Try It Out Tuesday post yesterday. Since it was Chemo Day for mom on Monday, I stopped by to check on her yesterday, and ended up staying and chatting for awhile. I also had some last minute clients on top of my usual Tuesday clients, and a 3 year old that's potty training. Fun day! But...here I am now, attempting to make it up to you all. I think this polish oughta do it!

Today's TIOT polish is Smitten Polish in Hocus Pocus. I've had this in my stash for awhile now, and have been itching to wear it. I mean, this polish is fairly legendary for its squishy purple jelly base and purple, blue, and magenta holo glitters. It's seriously just fabulous. I actually considered bypassing swatching last night since it's *that* awesome.

This is 3 coats of Hocus Pocus with top coat. Some photos are intentionally slightly blurred to show holo colors.

First of all, check out how my skin tone changes with different lighting angles. Drives me mad, I tell you! I'm naturally pale with strong Olive undertones, so getting my skintone exact is near impossible. Gotta love it.

But back to Hocus Pocus.....Ain't she a beaut?? Funny thing is - I had seen swatches of this polish before, but the holo wasn't evident at all. I thought that HP was a purple jelly with purple glitter! Even then, it looked amazing, but add the holo and BAM! Instant fabulous! I wish I had some sunlight to capture this polish (it's crazy in sunlight), but  routinely photograph around 1am and the sun is loooong gone by then. ;)

Hocus Pocus has an excellent formula with no thickening during use and excellent dry time. Application was entirely problem free (no dragging, balding or clumping) and opaque in 2 coats, although I used 3 for these photos. Hocus Pocus does not dry very textured at all - your regular topcoat with smooth it out perfectly, however she does have a slightly satin finish, so you definitely want to use that topcoat! I used HK Girl for these swatches since it does not dull holos. In fact, it seemed to really bring out the colors in HP!

So far HP is my one and only Smitten Polish, but that is going to change. I'm so impressed and in love with this beauty that I must try more! If you don't have Hocus Pocus, you can find it by heading over to SmittenPolish.com or Llarowe.

Try It Out Tuesday: Maybelline Color Show "Holographics" - Mystic Green"

Hello lovelies! Welcome to (the late night edition of) Try It Out Tuesday! I'm very excited to be joining my girl Gini from Sassy Paints for TIOT. What a great way to get through some of my gigantic stash of untrieds!

Today's polish is from the "Holographics" Collection that Maybelline's Color Show line recently released. Note that the word Holographics is in quotes up there....Yeah, someone needs to look that word up because these polishes are nowhere near Holographic. If anything, they are very mild duochromes with a very metallic finish. I picked up 2 of these when they first came out, solely because I like the colors - I was well aware that these had zero holo to them. Still, it kind of irks me that these are being marketed as Holos. Very misleading.

For today's TIOT I chose Mystic Green to try out. This color is a gorgeous green with strong yellow undertones. It does have a slight color shift to a darker, more emerald green, but otherwise it's just a pretty metallic polish.

This is 3 coats with topcoat:

I have to admit - I do love the color. But I just can't get past the "holographic" claim being so far from true, as well as some other things....

Mystic Green's formula was a pain in my hind end. Very thin and watery at first, only to thicken up into a glop fest. Application was just as rough with a lot of streaking, some serious balding and dragging, and since the polish thickened up a ton - bubbles. The kind of bubbles that even the best top coat can't get rid of. If Mystic Green was an actual Holographic polish, it might be worth the hassle. But......it's not. I am disappoint, Son.

I do have another color from this collection to try out, and I'm really hoping that the formula isn't as bad as Mystic Green. These colors are truly beautiful, so it's a shame that they don't hold up (at least in my eyes...who know? I may have a bad bottle.).
