Hello Lovelies! Here I am, a day late for the Mish Mash Challenge. I mentioned this yesterday, but this mani di dnot want to come into being. I had so many problems that I literally wanted to set everything on fire.
This week's theme is "cold", a theme that I wasn't feeling too hot about TBH. I had several ideas, but none of them really called to me. Eventually I settled on some little penguins, buuuuut.....my acrylic paints are MIA, so I had to use regular polish. Usually workable, but every polish I grabbed for this started getting thick and stringy right away. Normally I reach for my Finger Paints Paper Mache when I need a good, opaque white, but that seems to be missing as well. I literally attempted this mani 3 times with 3 different sets of polish and every single time the white and orange glopped up immediately. This is my third and final attempt, and even though I'm not happy with it, I was not about to sit down and create another new manicure after doing 3 in a row. I promise next week will suck less.
So my poor little penguins are thick, and look like they're recovering from a mild bender. Not a complete fail, but I am FAR from happy with them. I'm also showing you my left hand, which is still growing out and really needs to be shaped. Not a good mani day for me - don't judge me.
Okay, so they're not a complete fail, but that thick white polish made things so hard. No clean lines here, folks. These also took forever to dry! I do like the little Fimo bowties (thanks to Polish Asphyxiation for those! Couldn't wait to play with them!), but you should see the dent in the polish where those were!
Make sure to check out all my polish sistah's and their challenge nails - I promise they won't be as slap-dash as mine!
I'll be back later with a gorgeous polish from Euphoric Lacquers. Flaie Friday is on for tomorrow, and I have some awesomeness from Tawdry Terrier, Love Angeline, Gothic Gala and Polish TBH on the way.
Thanks for stopping by and may your penguins remain sober!
-Kimber

ABC Challenge: "W" is for Weak Water Marble

Hello Lovelies! Check it out - I managed to post again before midnight! Woohoo!
Today is another ABC Challenge day! This challenge has flown by. I can't believe we're already at "W"!
For today's challenge I decided to water marble, which was a bad idea since I am so out of practice. The last time I marbled was for the 31 day challenge, which was at least 6 months ago. I need to bone up on my marbling skills since I love water marbles and can pull off some pretty cool manis when I'm doing them regularly.
I suppose It's not all that bad, especially since this is another 4 am manicure. My biggest issue was that the polishes I chose were not great for marbling, but I am stubborn and decided to force them to work. Yeah, not my best idea. But at 4 am, the last thing I wanted to do was go through my stash to find the good marbling polishes in the right colors.
For this mani, I chose Sally Hansen White On as my base ( my fave white to marble with) and used Orly Wild Wisteria and Nina Ultra Pro Lilac-ing Discipline for my purples. I added the white dots to try to offset how bad this is, but it didn't help. Neither did my attempt at small flower petals since my nails are fairly short. My pinky also came out very light, which was odd since I used the same exact number of drops and the same pattern. Meh.
Here is my weak water marble:
So not epic, but not a complete fail. I hope. I'll definitely be marbling more often to get back into the swing of things though!
Don't forget to check out my polish sistahs and their W manicures. I guarantee they're way less weak than mine is!
Are you a fan of water marbles? Would you like to see more marbling manis?
I'll be back tomorrow with a new Indie Brand that you'll love, so check back!
Thanks for stopping by and Happy Polishing!

31 Day Challenge (v.2!)! Day 3: Yellow Nails!
WARNING: Whining ahead! This mani was mean and evil!
Morning Ladies! It's officially our third challenge post! Today's challenge was yellow nails, and I'll admit, yellow doesn't inspire me one bit. It doesn't help that I'm getting a cold (thank you people that work with Hubs for going to work sick and spreading your germs.), and I am a giant baby when I don't feel well.
This mani also did not want to exist. Something went wrong at every turn with this one! I did alot of swearing and threatening to burn uncooperative polish. ;) I had to apply my base color twice, since the first time as soon as I applied my SV, I managed to whack 3 fingers against the table while doing nothing more than standing up! Then, after the second try at my base color, I whacked another finger. I wasn't about to deal with this base color again though, since it has the worst formula known to man. It was like trying to apply yellow paste! Ugh! Then, after I had applied the black and was satisfied, my top coat smeared the black way more than usual. I think I'm going to start doing a coat of Gelous first when I do tape manis, since the last few times my black has smeared way too much. I've used Sinful's Black on Black for the last few tape mani's (save for my Day 1 mani); maybe that's the issue. My Wet N Wild and Orly black polishes don't seem to be as smeary. Hmmmmm.
I used Pixel Yell-Ooh as my base color (it's one of the few yellows I own), then used striping tape for the mummy lines, and Sinful's Black on Black. I'm not pleased with this one, but like I said, I wasn't about to deal with this any more.
Anyway, I give you the mani that didn't want to be. I apologize for the smearing, but I wasn't about to re-do the whole thing after the issues I had already dealt with!
I actually really liked this IRL, since the smearing wasn't obvious. Macro mode is so unforgiving. Meh! Anyway, this looked really cool IRL. I have to try this design again sometime.
Hopefully all your yellow manis were much more cooperative!!! I can't wait to see them! I'm going to rest for an hour or so, then I'll be back to see all the awesome manis. I also have a new Color Show LE to share. It's officially the ugliest polish I own, yet it's so ugly it's pretty. :)
