Hello lovelies! Phew! I made it - I'm managing to post a challenge mani on the right day! Shocking, right? ;)
Today's post is going to be quick and dirty since this horrible insomnia is really catching up to me and I am hurting today. I think I managed maybe 2 hours of sleep last night, and my body is finally taking over and preparing to force me to sleep. Sad thing is that I love sleep and have never had trouble sleeping in my life, but the past few weeks have been just horrible. In fact, this poor manicure was done between 3 and 5:30 am this morning since I was wide awake and there's nothing else to do at that time of day. I have a feeling bedtime will be coming sooner rather than later tonight.
Today's challenge is letter "V'. Can you believe we're almost at the end already? I know we've been doing this for months now but it doesn't feel all that long. I'll be sad when this challenge ends, but all of the girls have been brainstorming and coming up with ideas for some really awesome new challenges, so I won't have to be sad for long!
Letter V stumped me, lovelies. I have a couple of V polishes, but nothing that was really calling to me. I love all things Vintage and initially thought of trying out some vintage roses, but I wore some roses recently so I nixed that idea. Since I also love Rockabilly Inspired stuffs, I decided to try out a manicure that I've seen a few different variations on - the Retro-Funky Vintage Leopard and Red Mani. I chose to wear mine as half nude leopard and half red, as opposed to the half moon version since I didn't feel like messing with half moons - I'm fairly unmotivated around 4 am, folks!
Considering I wasn't at my best when I worked on this, I'm pretty pleased with how it came out. My only gripe is that I was being lazy and didn't want to deal with tape, so I did the leopard print first, and then went to add the red, and lo and behold! All of my red polishes were way too sheer to cover the print. Thankfully A-England Perceval did the trick, which made me happy since any excuse to wear Perceval is a good one. I may be the only person to ever attempt this manicure using a shimmer, but it doesn't look as odd as I thought it would. My base color is OPI My Vampire Is Buff, my very fave neutral, and I stamped the leopard print using Red Angel Plate 107 and Konad Black (told ya I was lazy!).
It's not perfect, but it'll do! Actually this is a really fun mani and looks great IRL. I'm always grateful that real life isn't in super-macro mode. This is also a very me kind of manicure, and makes me all sorts of happy. Or maybe that's the sleep deprivation talking. I think I'm starting to hallucinate. ;)
What do you think of Vintage/Rockabilly Inspired manicures?
Don't forget to go forth and check out all my awesome polish sistah's and their letter V manicures!
I'll return tomorrow with an amazing polish from Wingdust. I have Nail Pattern Boldness, Live Life Polished and Polish TBH coming up this week as well as Flakie Friday and more from the new Sally Hansen Collections so be sure to check back!
Thanks for stopping by and Happy Polishing!

Summery neutrals with some sparkle!
I really wanted to use Makeup Geek's "New Year's Eve" pigment in a look. I was trying to figure out how and I thought it would look really great in the center of your lid. So I went with that feeling and did this look with that as my inspiration.
I recently reviewed the Makeup Geek pigments but if you missed it, here's what New Year's Eve looks like:
I recently reviewed the Makeup Geek pigments but if you missed it, here's what New Year's Eve looks like:
| The left is a dry swatch and the right is a wet swatch |
It's a beautiful light gold glittery color.
And here is the look I came up with! I tried to create depth within my bone structure.
I really need to take glitter photography lessons. This was the best I could get it to show up on camera and in person, I have glitter everywhere haha.
And here's a "paint by number" type diagram to show you color placement:
Color codes
(all colors by Makeup Geek)
1- "New Year's Eve" pigment
2- "Glamorous" shadow
3- "Frappe" shadow
4- "Brown Sugar" shadow
5- "Cocoa Bear" shadow
6- "Beaches and Cream" shadow
I used Milani Liquid Eye Eyeliner in "Black", which I set with Makeup Geek shadow in "Corrupt." My mascara is Rimmel Scandaleyes Mascara in "Extreme Black." On my lips, I have a new (well, new to me) lipstick. It's Rimmel's Lasting Finish by Kate in 101. It's a super pretty natural pink color. I topped that with MAC "Right Image" Cremesheen Glass.
I hope you like this look! It's so easy to wear and the golds and bronze colors are great for summer (plus, if you have blue eyes, it really makes them stand out!!)! I hope you all are having a great week and I hope you do something fun this weekend!!

Easy smokey charcoal eyes!
If you read my review of the new Makeup Geek pigments the other day, you would have read that I couldn't wait to try out "Paparazzi" over a black base. So I got on that haha. This is how it looks!
Just an easy way to wear some smokey eyes! I hope you all like it! What's your favorite way to wear smokey eyes?
| I like this one because you can see the sparkle! |
I kept this look simple by using a white liner (NYX JEP in "milk") on my waterline instead of lining all the way around my eyes with black like I would usually do. I find this to be slightly less intimidating when trying smokey eyes.
What I used:
Lime Crime Eyeshadow Helper
NYX Jumbo Eye Pencil "Black Bean"
Makeup Geek pigment "Paparazzi" all over lid and a little on my lower lashline
MUG "Graphite" shadow to soften the line of color
MUG "Stealth" shadow to blend up to highlight color
MUG "Bling" as highlight color
MUG "Immortal" gel liner
MUG "Corrupt" shadow to set liner and add a bit of depth to my outer v area
Just an easy way to wear some smokey eyes! I hope you all like it! What's your favorite way to wear smokey eyes?

Hello lovelies! Happy Monday. In true Monday form, this day has been blah. My mother was admitted to the hospital this afternoon. She was unable to stand up this morning, so my father called an ambulance and she was rushed to the ER. She is dehydrated, and hasn't been eating much, plus her oxygen levels were low. She is improving now that she is on IV Fluids and oxygen, but they are keeping her to run more tests and do XRays and the like.
Due to my mom being hospitalized, post will be sporadic. I will be posting, but I cannot guarantee times and all that. I know you all understand - I have the best followers and polish friends in the world. I particularly need to thank Allison from Nail Pattern Boldness, Steph from Wingdust, Candied Lustre, Live Life Polished,Lisa from Twenty Seven Polish and Christian from Polish TBH for their patience while waiting on swatches. I know it sucks waiting for reviews, and they have been saints!
I will have my 2 week Pure Nail Oil™ update posted tomorrow morning, so stay tuned for that!
My 500 Follower giveaway is still live! Be sure to get those daily entries (Please make sure that the FB share entry is posted on your own wall, and not my page - those do not count!)! Up for grabs is the BG Cosmetics Holographics Collection!
Today I have an awesome polish from Polish Addict to share with you! I have been dying to try this baby, and I was thrilled when Laura sent this one to me to review. How can I not be excited about glitter and glow in the dark, right?
Jellyfish II is an awesome blend of a creamy, vanilla base color packed with navy blue, gold, and purple hex glitters. I absolutely adore the neutral base with these bright glitters, but Jellyfish II also glows in the dark! Bonus!
This is 3 thin coats of Jellyfish II topped with Simply Quick top coat:
Love! There is something about that gorgeous neutral base combined with glitter that just makes me happy!
Here's Jellyfish II in the dark - check out how strong that GITD is!
So cool! I had such a great time wearing this polish. It was a definite mood booster! And hey, I love GITD polish. I'm such a kid with it - sitting int he dark watching my nails glow!
Jellyfish II's formula was superb. I'm normally apprehensive of these kinds of glitters, but I had no issues with thickening, clumpy glitters or glopping. Application was smooth and easy, with no dragging, or balding. You will end up with some microglitters on you, but that's par for the course! Jellyfish II does dry a bit textured, so I added a coat of Glitter Food before topcoating and everything was smooth as glass. Wear was fabulous - I wore this for over 24 hours before I even photographed it!
I have to admit, I am very much in love with this polish! Glittery enough to stand out and feed my love for all things sparkly, yet neutral enough to be work appropriate. Yup, Laura has a serious winner on her hands with this girl! A definite must have!
You can check out Polish Addict's creations at Polish Addict on Big Cartel. Jellyfish II sells for $10.00 for full size, and if you're not a fan of the GITD effect, Jellyfish I (no gitd) is available for $9.00. Polish Addict has a ton of awesome polishes, so be sure to look around. You can also follow Polish Addict on Instagram (@polishaddictnailcolor) for swatches, sales info and re-stock information.
I have another Polish Addict beauty to share with you this week, so be sure to check back!
What do you think of Jellyfish II? Do you love the combo of neutrals with glitter as much as I do?
Thanks for stopping by and Happy Polishing!

Fuse Nail Polish: Thunderstorm plus glitter gradient!

Hello Lovelies! Happy Tuesday! I am just now starting my 25th hour of the Pure Nail Oil™ 3-Day Hydrating Treatment. If you follow me on Facebook, you know how amazed I am with my results. I cannot wait to share them with you all! If I'm getting results this amazing after 1 day, I just can't imagine how great my nails and cuticles will look after day 3. You guys don't get stuck having to look at the mess my cuticle shave become thanks to skin smoothing camera setting, filters, lighting that washes out the details, and blurring. When you see what my cuticles looked like before I started using Pure, you will fall over. I kid you not. I have yet to see cuticles as horrible as mine were on a blogger. Pure is a miracle oil, no kidding.
Obviously my ABC Challenge post will be delayed this week since I'm going naked until Thursday night, but it will be posted.
I'm working on the BG Cosmetics Holographics Collection Giveaway today, so look for that later today!
Right now, I have an awesome new to me Indie Brand to share!
Fuse Nail Polish first hit my radar with a really cool glitter with a great name that I'll be posting later. Once I checked out their website, I fell in love with their polishes. All of them are so cool and unique, and endorsed fully by Curtis the Dinosaur (He's a toy Dinosaur that is present in every photo, in different poses. So cool!).
I was lucky enough to receive 2 Fuse polishes to review, both of which were in my top 3 faves.
Thunderstorm is an insanely gorgeous neutral. I'm not that great at describing neutral colors, but Thunderstorm is a sparkly Taupe color with golden shimmer. It's truly gorgeous and now one of my favorite neutral polishes. Since I had been searching for a polish to wear with my NYX Girls Mushroom Glitter, I was ecstatic when I applied Thunderstorm and it was a perfect match. I added a glittery gradient with to my tips and voila! Glittery Neutral Goodness!
This is 3 thin coats of Fuse Nail Polish Thunderstorm with NYX Girls Mushroom Glitter:
I adore this polish! I've only recently begun to love neutral colors, and this one is the perfect color for me. Shimmery with a little flash, and dark enough to keep me from having mannequin hands. Add some glitter and wow!
Thunderstorm's formula was very impressive. Usable straight from the bottle with zero thickening or glopping. Application was lovely as well, no dragging, balding, or gooping. Dry time was fast, fast, fast, and wear was awesome! I wore this manicure for a good 36 hours and didn't have a single chip and barely any tip wear ( and I had to snake a toilet while wearing this, so that says something).
I am loving Fuse! I will definintely be adding more of their polish to my collection. I have one more Fuse beauty to share with you this week, and it's a doozy! I promise you'll love it. :)
You can find Fuse Nail Polish at Fuse Nail Polish on Big Cartel. Full size bottles retail for $10, and they are constantly adding to their line. In the near future you'll be seeing cuticle oils, scrubs and butters from Fuse as well as polish. As a bonus for you awesome lovelies, you can save 20% off your order by using code "KimbersKorner" at checkout! That's some awesome savings, so go forth and check them out!!
Make sure to follow @FuseNailPolish on Instagram for tons of pics! They post alot of awesome pics that show just how versatile their polish is. You just might catch a glimpse of Curtis!

Flakie Friday (Saturday Version!): Daring Digits Holy Fire
Press Sample
*Product(s) Featured provided for review. Please see Disclaimer/Legal Page for more information**
Good Morning Lovelies! I am so excited to be back to posting in the mornings. I've changed the way I'm swatching and photographing, and that seems to work much better. For the longest time I was polishing and photographing the night before posting, and with the new camera and a very active toddler, that just wasn't working well anymore. So I decided to be like most people and start swatching and photographing a few days beforehand. I failed for this post, but actually have my next few post ready to go. Yay me!
While you're here, why not enter my giveaway? 2 lucky lovelies will win the brand new 10 polish 80's Hits Collection from Daring Digits! If I hit 500 GFC followers while the giveaway is running, I will add yet another giveaway, so tell your friends! I know everyone is afraid to use GFC, but it's not going away in July (that's Google Reader), and we've had this scare several time before and it's still here. You're safe, and what do you have to lose, right?
Even though it's Satruday (my youngest was under the weather yesterday), it's still Flakie Friday here at KLK. And today's polish is a doozy! I have been loving neutrals with a kick lately, and Daring Digits Holy Fire was just what I was craving.
Daring Digits Holy Fire is a blend of coppery bronze flakies and glitters in a sheer off white base. The flakes and glitters tend to make the base appear more nude, which is fine with me - this combination is stunning!!! In all honesty, I have been dying to wear this polish since Ashley sent it to me, but let's be real....Daring Digits does not make a single polish that is less than awesome, and choosing one is tough. This week I could resist no longer, and I am so glad that I didn't! I'm actually still wearing this one. Since Dex was feeling blah through the night, I couldn't swatch, so I get to wear this a bit longer!
This is 3 coats of Daring Digits Holy Fire, no undies, topped with HK Girl Topcoat.
Check out that macro shot! *dies* How gorgeous is this polish? I love this baby so much that I've considered proposing, but I can't afford a ring. I love every single Daring Digits polish, but this? This is one of my very favorites. It's just......I have no words. It's as if Ashley created this baby just for me.
Holy Fire's formula was pure perfection. Perfect consistency, no thickening, and no glopping or gooping. Application was a dream, gliding onto the nail like pure liquid silk. The flakies are small and delicate so no issues with sharp edges or flakes that won't lay flat. Both the flakies and glitters are perefectly distributed on the nail. This girl also dries as smooth as glass, so no need for anything other than your usual top coat (KLK recommends HK Girl Top Coat). Holy Fire is very sheer, so you will need 3 coats for opacity. This polish also looks incredible layered over a buff colored base, as well as darker colors. It's incredibly versatile, but it's just so gorgeous on its own that I can't bring myself to even think of layering it.
I am deeply, madly in love with this one, lovelies. To me, this is the perfect neutral polish - a perfect neutral base color with matching sparkle, beautiful and classy. If you're a fan of neutrals, you need this. Need. As in you may very well not make it without it.
Want your own bottle? You can grab your very own bottle of Holy Fire on sale for a measly $8.00 right now at DDPolish.com. Hurry before it's gone! Daring Digits ships for free to the U.S., and $3 flat rate to Canada. If you are outside of North America, you can find Daring Digits at Mei Mei's Signatures. In fact, Ashley just released a gorgeous new polish that is exclusive to Mei Mei's. All DD polishes are 3-free, cruelty free, and lovingly handmade my the fabulous Miss Ashley. Don't forget to follow Daring Digits on Facebook for info, updates and new releases.

Daring Digits 80's Hits Collection: Every Breath You Take
Hello Lovelies! I'm actually feeling a bit better today. I've had some awesome conversations with a couple of my fave blogger/polish friends, and that really boosted my spirits. Thanks Gini and Ketlyn!! I'm also back to polishing and posting, although I'll only be able to manage a post a day while B is gone. Right now I'm polishing after the kids have gone to bed, photographing while Dex eats breakfast, editing while he has lunch, and posting while he has dinner. This does not cater to my OCD, but it works! I will toss out a warning though - Dave's memorial service is tomorrow so I'm sure to be shaken again. Right now it's surreal, and I'm forging on solely because I know that he would tsk at me for shirking my responsibilites.
Don't forget that I have a giveaway going! Enter to win the entire 10 bottle set of Daring Digits' 80's Hits Collection! There are daily entries, so make sure you don't miss out on those!
Today I have another awesome polish from the ever-so-awesome Ash from Daring Digits. Every Breath You Take represents 1983 in the 80's Hits Collection, and is (obviously!) named after the song by The Police. I loooove that song, and I love Sting. His voice is just so unique, and his tunes are always catchy. How can you not dig Sting?
Every Breath You Take (the polish) is a simply perfect mix of various sized Red, Blue, and Yellow square and hex glitters in a clear base. I really struggled to choose a base color for this one, but I knew that I wanted the colors to stand out. I ultimately decided to layer EBYT over OPI My Vampire Is Buff, one of my fave neutrals.
This is 2 very thin coats of EBYT, topped with Glitter Food and HK Girl top coat (Please not that that these pics are the perfectr example of how my crazy olive/pink skin tone looks different with nothing more than a shift of my wrist!):
Love! I really love how bright the colors are in this girl, and the mix of hex and square glitters really makes this for me. I adore this over a neautral base, but I can see myself wearing this often over so many colors! Just awesome!
EBYT has the standard Daring Digits Formula - thick enough to carry the glitter, yet thin enough to flow smoothly. These glitters are a bit heavy, but I had zero issues with fishing for glitter, and I did not tip my bottle upside down before polishing. Application was a breeze, the glitters dispersed nicely and lay flat on the nail. I used very thin coats here, but 1 thicker coat would have sufficed. This does dry a touch textured, so I added a coat of Glitter Food, however it really wasn't all that necessary.
I am so in love with this collection! I cannot rave about these enough! And if you love these in photos, you really should see them IRL. Amazing! You can win the entire 10 polish set by entering my giveaway too! There will be 2 winners, so double the chances of winning!
All Daring Digits polishes are 3-free, cruelty free, and handmade. You can find the 80's Collection, as well as all of Ashley's other amazing creations at DDPolish.com. Full size bottles retail for $8.00, minis $4.15, and shipping is free within the U.S. and only $3 flat rate to Canada! Be sure to follow Daring Digits on Facebook for updates and information. Ash is always coming up with incredible new polish.

Happy New Year! A fun look and a personal update
I figure I'll start this post off with the look in case you're not interested in the personal stuff. I actually did this look like a month ago and just never got around to posting it. I did post these pictures already on facebook so I'm sorry if you've seen them already. I wanted to do a cut crease look with glitter because I hadn't used glitter in like a million years. So here's the look
What I used:
All Makeup Geek (MUG) eyeshadows:
Lid: Bleached Blonde
From crease line up to brow bone:
Bada Bing
Mocha
Brown Sugar
Cocoa Bear
Goddess
Bleached Blonde
Bling
Then I topped the lid color with NYX glitter liner in Gold.
Eyeliner: MUG gel liner "Immortal" topped with MUG eyeshadow "Corrupt"
Mascara: L'oreal Voluminous Carbon Black
Then I used a Makeup Geek Lipstick too in the color "Darling"
I thought it was a fun look, it was really dramatic and I hadn't done anything so dramatic in quite a while so it was a bit of an overload haha.
So now onto the personal stuff.
I am officially done with chemo IV treatments!!! The more days that go by of me being done, the more excited I get. Because I was going every 2 weeks for treatment so when I'd start feeling good again, it was almost time for my next treatment. But now I'm starting to feel good again and I don't have to dread going for my next treatment because I don't have any more!! I did find out that my oncologist wants me to take a chemo pill for 6 months though. The chemo pill is not supposed to be as intense as the IV treatments but there are still a bunch of side effects that could make me feel like poo. I also could still lose my hair.
If you follow me on facebook, you may have seen that I posted this picture of myself at my final chemo treatment
I posted that on my blog page mainly to let you guys know what was going on because I've been a terrible blogger and haven't updated my blog in a very long time. I also didn't want to keep changing information on you because my treatments kept getting pushed back. I didn't want to tell you I'd be done for Thanksgiving and then come back a week later with a "just kidding!" But anyways, somehow this picture got shared out of control. As of now it has over 255,000 likes and 3,471 comments. Completely out of control. I didn't even know that could happen. I wasn't trying to let random people know I'm done with chemo, I was trying to let you guys know.
What I learned from this picture being shared so much and with so many comments is that there are some really really incredible people out there who really just want the best for someone they don't even know. I got so many comments saying, "God bless you" and "Congratulations" and amazing comments like that. I also learned that people can be incredibly cruel. While the good comments far outweighed the bad, I got sooo many comments telling me that I should be ashamed of myself for posting this picture because it's fake. There's no way I went through chemo because I still have my hair. I look "too healthy" to have gone through chemo. I have makeup on so the picture is fake. I have jewelry on so the picture is fake. I had people calling me names. Some people said the only reason anyone cares is because I'm a, "pretty white girl." Which is complete nonsense!
My integrity was being called into question, it really hurt my feelings, and I really felt like I wanted to defend myself to every mean comment I saw. I realize that I don't have to. But who in the world would make up that they have cancer? Why would I go to a hospital and be like, "can I sit in your chair and take this picture with my fake sign please? Oh yeah, can I have a blanket and hospital bracelet too while we're at it?" It makes no sense. And I feel like if people educated themselves a little bit they would realize that not all chemotherapy drugs are the same. They don't all make you lose your hair. I responded well to chemo. I'm very lucky and I realize that.
But people were saying, "nobody looks that good at chemo." Well you know what? I was feeling good the morning of chemo so I got up, showered, did my hair and makeup because that's what I do. I don't go in public without at least some makeup. I'm sure as heck not going to let my husband take my picture if I don't have makeup on, let alone post it on facebook. If I had my husband take my picture the next day, you would see a completely different girl. I would look tired. I wouldn't have makeup on. My hair wouldn't be done because that's what chemo does to people. I have enough time in between my treatments where I get back to feeling like myself again so the mornings of my chemo treatments I feel fine. It's the next 5-6 days where I feel like crap.
I just needed to get that out haha. Thank you for listening to my little rant haha. I appreciate every kind comment so much. I couldn't understand why these people who have never heard of me or seen any of my makeup before this would care so much and their kindness blew me away.
I feel so lucky and blessed that I get to start 2013 being cancer free with no IV treatments left! I feel blessed that I get to see 2013 at all because things could have been very different. I'm going to ask you, as a personal favor, if you ever see a picture floating around facebook and you might think it's fake, please don't make nasty comments because you never know what someone is actually going through.
I wish you all the best in 2013. I'm so excited to see what it has in store!!
Thank you all for being the best followers ever!!

Makeup Geek Gel Liners
Makeup Geek recently sent me four of their new(ish) gel eyeliners. I have been playing around with them since I got them. The liners cost $7.99 for 1.8g of product. To compare, MAC fluidlines cost $15 for 3g of product, so they're really quite similar in price per gram. So here are the colors I got:
Immortal:
What the MUG site says the bottom line about this color is, "A true intense black color with a matte finish."
I think this is a great basic black gel liner. I've never had any issues with a black gel liner (I've also used L'oreal HIP, MAC, and Bobbi Brown) and I wouldn't necessarily recommend this over the others or the others over this. It lasted well for me, but I did set it with a shadow as I always do.
Electric:
"True royal blue with a matte finish."
This color, when used as a liner, does not come across as bright. Also this needs you to give it drying time. I used it to line around my eyes and it transferred like nobody's business. I learned that setting it with shadow before opening your eyes is a very good idea. This worked well for me on the waterline.
Fame:
"A dark aquatic teal with a navy undertone and smooth shimmery finish."
My favorite. I love this color. It applied super smoothly and it's just the most gorgeous color. I had no issues with staying power on my waterline. If you have hazel or gold eyes, you NEED this color.
Rave:
"A dark metallic golden brown shade with a smooth shimmery finish."
This is like a silvery-brown color. It's really pretty, I used it as a base, I haven't used it as a liner yet. But it applied nice and smoothly and it's a really pretty, interesting color.
Swatches:
And here are two looks I did using these.
A look with "Electric" as the star of the show.
What I used:
MUG "Electric" Gel liner all around my eyes and on waterline
MUG "Neptune" shadow to set the liner (they need a shadow color that better coordinates with Electric)
MUG "Bling" shadow on lid and as highlight
MUG "Stealth" in outer v area
MUG "Purely Naked" to blend up from Stealth
My second look. Using "Fame" and "Rave"
I used "Rave" as a base on my lid
MUG "Prom Night" on top of Rave
MUG "Latte" in outer v area
MUG "Beaches 'n Cream" above Latte
MUG "Shimma Shimma" as highlight
"Fame" gel liner on waterline, topped with "Ocean Breeze" and blended down into "Mermaid"
I definitely like these liners. I think they make great eyeshadow bases as well, they don't stay creamy like the NYX jumbo eye pencils do, but I didn't have any issues getting shadow to stick on top of them. Have you guys tried these gel liners yet? What do you think of them?
I hope you all had a fantastic Thanksgiving! Thanks so much for taking time out to check this out!!!
