Essie Midnight Cami and Holo Bar Glittah!

Hello Ladies! Happy Thursday! So close to the weekend! I have decided to re-add my blogroll, but it's a work in progress since it seems to have deleted several blogs I was following. If you're not shown, let me know and I will fix it! Now, onto the polish!

Today I am sharing another of my all time fave blue polishes, Essie Midnight Cami. This baby is a gorgeous deep Sapphire Blue with subtle shimmer. It's one of those blues that is so dark that it seems black at first glance, but once the light hits it the blue just glows. Midnight Cami is from Essie's Fall 2009 Collection, but I have seen where it is being re-released as part of the 2012 Fall Collection as well. If you love blues like I do, this is a must have.

Also, look at those nubbins! They're growing!! I'm actually pretty happy with them, save for my poor index finger, but that's the nail that was ripped down t the very quick, so it will take a little longer for that one to catch up.

Details:
1 coat OPI Nail Envy Matte
1 coat Instant Artificials Base Coat
2 coats Essie Midnight Cami
1 coat Seche Vite

What a gorgeous blue! *Swoon*! I know there are a million deep blues out there, but Midnight Cami is just amazing. Pictures do not do her justice - you really have to see her in person to see how she glows.

Formula:
As usual, Essie knocked this one out of the park. Smooth, buttery, perfection. Not too thin, not too thick. I used 2 coats here, but MC is fairly opaque in one. If you used a thick coat you could certainly get away with a single coat.

Application:
Midnight Cami applies like a dream! This girl glides onto the nail smoothly and stays where you put her. No dragging, balding, or streaking. Love it!

Of course, I am me, and it's rare that my brain will let me wear any polish alone. I came across Sally Hansen In The Spotlight in my stash the other day, and decided it was the perfect pairing with MC. Holo Bar Glitter over deep Sapphire Blue? Yes Please!!

I can't believe I forgot I had this glitter! After wearing this, I do believe I need more bar glitters in my stash!!

Have a Happy Thursday and thanks for stopping by!

Happy Polishing!

Colorful everyday summer look

Hello makeup-lovers and fellow spooks! :)

Summer is a time of color and a color that I like very much but seldom use is orange. Orange usually makes me think of fall and Halloween, but it is also suitable for summer. I made this look over a week ago but I haven't had time to post it before now.

I've got loads of Makeup Geek eyeshadows that I intend to review some time, but since it (for some reason) is taking me such a long time to do so I will present the shadows in different looks instead.

The shadow I've used today is Mandarine which is a vibrant orange with specks of gold. It has great color payoff and it didn't crease on me even though I used it with concealer as my only primer. On the swatch picture, the eyeshadow is applied on bare skin.

A similar eyeshadow is Flamepoint by Sugarpill, but I think this
is a little better since Flamepoint is more of a reddish orange, while Mandarine is a more... well, orangey orange I guess. ;)

So let's move on to the look:

When adding a colorful eyeshadow to the outer corner of the eye, rather than on the whole lid, and blending it well it can be used to get a more subtle and wearable look.

Black lipstick of course, no surprise I guess. ;)

Wet N Wild Break The Ice + Spoiled Pet My Peacock

Hi Ladies! Happy Monday!

Today I have some fantastic glitter to share with you! I've had this polish for a good while now, but for some reason never got around to wearing it. I'm not sure why, because it's awesome!

Pet My Peacock is a gorgeous mix of blue, teal, purple and gold hexagonal glitter in a clear base. So many layering possibilities, right? I really agonized over what to pair this with, but eventually settled on Wet N Wild Megalast Break The Ice, a gorgeous soft white shimmer. I love shimmery white polish (actually I love white chrome too!), and Break The Ice is white shimmer perfection. It's not so white that it's blinding, but white enough to be eye catching. Paired with a colorful glitter and wow! The white background really brings out the colors in the glitter. I'll be honest, at first I didn't really love this mani. But after a few hours I really dug it. The gold in PMP wasn't sitting well with me and took a little getting used to. Can you tell I'm not a huge fan of gold? The rest of the colors really popped though, and I found myself wiggling my fingers around to watch the glitters sparkle!

I wore this mani a week ago, and since then the nubs have grown a bit. I can't wait to show you guys my current mani! My nubbins finally look presentable! For now, check out Pet My Peacock in all her glory!

1 coat OPI Nail Envy Matte
1 coat Orly Bonder
2 coats Wet N Wild Megalast Break The Ice
1 coat Spoiled Pet My Peacock
1 coat Seche Vite

Glittery Goodness!! I love the mix of colors in this girl, even if it takes awhile for me to warm to gold. The teal and purple glitter really make this one for me. The purple is really subtle until the light hits it just right, but when it does, it's just gorgeous!

Formula:
Not much to talk about here, the usual chunky glitter. The clear base is a touch thick, but that's about par for the course.

Application:
Again, nothing unusual here. You do have to fish for glitter and do a bit of placing. When I have to pat the glitter on like that, I usually end up with some bubbling. No exception here, but it's not noticable IRL so I'm not really bothered by it. PMP does have the evil Spoiled mop brush, but since it's a glitter it's not really an issue. I've taken to using Julep brushes with my Spoiled polishes save for the glitters.

I hope you're all having a painless Monday and thanks for stopping by!

Happy Polishing!

orly-Lemonade (swatch)

Hola!!

Julep Chloe - redeeming the nubbins

Hello Ladies! Happy Friday!! I apologize for my lack of posting lately. It's been busy busy here and I've fallen behind. I have another few posts to share before I'm all caught up. Hopefully I'll be able to post those over the weekend.

Today I am sharing the polish that made me ok with my nubbins again - Julep Chloe. Chloe is a perfect black jelly with (what I would call) Aubergine microglitter. On the nail, the glitter looks more red, which I was a-ok with. I fell in love with this girl in the bottle, and even more so on my nails. The minute I began to apply this, I breathed a sigh of relief! Not only was I happy with the polish, but wearing Chloe made me love my nubbins again! They're by no means perfect; the shape is still far from my preference, my cuticles and fingertips are still a bit dry (at least when I wore this mani. They did improve, but I've been wearing a gel mani the past few days and removal really messed up my cuticles and skin.), and they're still too short to even be called nubbins, but this polish took away my sadness over them. In fact, I couldn't stop staring at my nails! Yay! I wore Chloe on her own for 2 days, and then I added some glittery red lightning bolt tips since I didn't want to take this off, but needed a little change. But that's for another post. Let's focus on Chloe!

Details:
1 coat Julep Nail Therapy
1 coat Orly Bonder
2 coats Julep Chloe
1 coat Seche Vite

LOVE LOVE LOVE!!!!!  If you love vampies/glitter, you NEED this polish!

Formula:
As with 99% of my Julep polishes, this baby was flawless. Perfect consistency, perfect opacity, perfectly even disbursement of glitter. I have absolutely no complaints here. I love Julep's polishes. I really need to wear mine more often. I just love them so much that I tend to save them for special occasions.

Application:
Again, zero complaints. Chloe glides onto the nail like butter. The polish stayed right where I put it with no streaking, bubbling, dragging or balding (impressive for a glitter jelly!). I did do some cleanup, but that's because my OCD insists that I try to make my lines as clean and uniform as possible. However, I did not NEED cleanup at all. I'm used to at least a little mess or a little dribble here and there, but this baby was flawless.

I can't say enough about Julep Chloe. I'm one of those polish addicts that just loves Julep. I do get the Maven boxes (I'm an "It Girl"), but I also purchase them outside of those. This is one that I picked up by itself, along with Alfre and Boris and Nicole, and a bottle of Nail Therapy (that stuff rocks!). I still need to wear both of those polishes! In fact, I think I will start wearing my Juleps starting now. I'm trying to show you all the Color Shows, but I think I'll alternate with Julep since Chloe reminded me of why I love Julep in the first place.

I hope you're all having a great day and have a fabulous weekend! Thanks for stopping by, and as always....Happy Polishing!

Midsummer nightmare

Hello makeup-lovers and fellow spooks! :)

The look of today is inspired by a dark forest in summer. You know, that kind of forest where the sunlight leaks through the leaves but don't really reach into the darkest parts. I love those kinds of forests, they're so peaceful and mysterious.

I hope you're all having a great Midsummer! :) Midsummer celebrations are quite a big deal here in Sweden. Personally I'm longing for Halloween. ;)

My septum piercing is much straighter now! :3 Thank you Kierra Thorn for the great tip!

I like this look way better with the white zombie-eyes, than with my own blue eye-color. :)
