Daring Digits Trailer Park Boys Collection: Julian and Ricky!

Hello lovelies! Another late post. Sheesh! I swear I am going to fix that issue once and for all tonight.  I was ahead, until a meeting today and a very demanding toddler decided that my blogging plans needed to be pushed to the wayside. I actually have a tired baby crawling all over me as I type this (He had a late nap so now he refuses to go to sleep. Poor kiddo!)! Oh well! Late posts are better than no posts at all!

Today I have the final 2 polishes of The Trailer Park Boys Collection from Daring Digits. If you missed it, Bubbles, the first polish from this collection, can be found here.  And if you're not familiar with the Candian TV show, you really should hit Netflix and check it out. It's hilarious, and one of my favorite shows. I will say that if you're offended by bumbling criminals, dark and/or topless trailer park supervisors (male), and lots of swearing and weed references, then you may want to steer clear! Even if you're not a fan of the show, the polishes are absolute must haves. Let's take a look, shall we?

First up is Julian, a black jelly packed with gold flakes. Not only is this one of my favorite polish combinations of all time, but it captures the essence of Julian perfectly. Black T-shirt, gold earring, black jeans, perpetual rum and coke in his hand, Julian is sexy, tough, and always in charge. He's definitely hard-edged, but has a softer side as well.

Julian can be worn alone or layered over black. First I'm showing Julian alone, then layered over A-England Camelot. I love this polish both ways. And it is sexay!!!! I spent a good amount of time staring at my nails while wearing Julian, which is very dangerous while driving. But ya know, flakies in the sun and all that. :)

Here is Julian alone, 3 coats with top coat:

Beautiful! Julian is simply gorgeous, and this will be in heavy rotation on my nails. Formula was Daring Digits fabulous - thick, but never too thick and always usable right from the bottle. In fact, none of my DD polishes have ever needed a single drop of thinner. Application was superb, flowiong onto the nail like black silk. The jelly base is a bit sheer, so you will need 2-3 coats depending on how opaque you like your jellies. I used 3 coats for intensity, but 2 coats was just as gorgeous. Dry time was fast, and the wear on this baby was impressive! Not even a single spot of tip wear after 24 hours, and I had been doing all sorts of things that should probably ripped half of my nails off!

Now tell me that isn't just plain sexy! Julian comes alive over black, the gold flakies really shining through.  I never wanted to take this off! I have a thing with the stilettos on my right hand, and Julian made me love them all the more. Plainly put - you NEED this polish. Need. Trust me on this one.

Next up is Ricky, a mix of black and white short bars, large white squares and small black squares. If you're familiar with TPB, this is Ricky's black and white houndstooth shirt and black and white track pants in a bottle. And, although I have a ton of black and white glitters, there is something about Ricky that stands out. It's definitely my fave of all my black and whites.

Since Ricky spends alot of time in Prison Orange, I chose to layer Ricky over Essie fear or Desire, a bright Orange creme. If this mani doesn't scream Ricky, I don't know what does! I decided that I really wanted those glitters to pop color wise, so I added a coat of Matte top coat. Love it!

This polish is just awesome! It makes me all sorts of giddy and smiley! Ricky would be proud! Formula was excellent - thick enough to hold the glitter, yet not so thick that it glops or bubbles.  Application was superb - I expected to a fair amount fo fishing since these are heavy glitters, but no fishing was needed. I did gently hand place some of the glitters, but that's mostly my OCD talking, and honestly was maybe 2 per nail.  Ricky is another must have, and you can bet I'll be wearing this over all those awesome spring and summer colors coming out! I'm kind of hoping Ash expands this collection as well. Nude with black glitter for Randy, anyone? Ha! I'm kidding!

Ashley is a genius - no doubt about it. She has hit the nail on the head with this collection and the brains behind Trailer Park Boys would be proud. She has captured the essence of the characters perfectly and created a collection that holds a special place in my heart. I swear sometimes it's like she is making polish just for me. And if you like the TPB Collection, wait until you see her upcoming 80's Collection! (that's a giveaway hint, BTW!)

Laquerlicious: Sea Grass

Good morning lovelies! I'm finally feeling better today, so it's going to be a two post day! I'm anxious to catch up on swatches and I have a veritable TON of awesome polish to share with you.

I'm also excited because I pampered myself a bit yesterday and had my hair cut and colored. It's completely different and I am loving it! I went from my natural color - a very odd ash blonde/brown/grey color to champagne blonde, and cut my hair into a sleek, short, inverted bob with Bettie Page Bangs. My stylist is amazing, and I haven't been this happy with my hair in a long time. If you're near ABQ, you need to visit Katie at ABQ Hair Studio!

I have a really gorgeous new polish from Laquerlicious to share with you this morning (ABC Challenge post will be up later this afternoon). I'm always so excited when Michelle creates new glitters! I have a total of 5 new Laquerlicious beauties to share with you, but I really could not wait to try this one out.

Sea Grass is a mix of multiple shades of teal, green and light green hex, square and micro bar glitter in a clear base with green shimmer.

Another versatile polish, Sea Grass looks great on her own, but I really wanted to layer this over a mint color to play up the teal a bit.

I really love this combo. I'm a big fan of teal and green together, and Sea Grass has a perfect balance of each. I apologize for the random bottles in these shots - my nails were getting a bit too long and holding that mini bottle was rough! I actually took down my length after I took these. Normally that would make me sad, but I had this weird curve in one of my nails and filing them down seems to be taking care of that little pest! But, let's talk more about Sea Grass.....

Formula:
As usual with Laquerlicious, the formula on Sea Grass was flawless.  Usable straight from the bottle , I have yet to need a sigle drop of thinner with Laquerlicious polishes.Sea Grass is thick enough to carry the glitter, but not too thick to work with, and no thickening up during use.

Application:
Easy Peasy! Sea Grass goes on smooth and the glitter is evenly distributed on the nail. Coverage is excellent- I needed a single coat for this mani. Worn alone, Sea Grass needs 2 coats for full coverage. Dry time was fast, and despite being packed with glitter, I did not need anything other than my usual topcoat for a smooth surface.

Do I even need to say it? I love Sea Grass, and I adore Laquerlicious. Michelle creates some of the best glitters around! Polish TBH "Girl Please" Collection: How I Troll

Good Morning Lovelies! Happy Friday! I'll have an awesome Flakie Friday post coming up later today - you don't want to miss it!

This morning I have another amazing polish from the new Girl Please Collection from Polish TBH. How I Troll is my favorite from this collection, and one of my top 5 fave polishes. It's a color changing base packed with pink, white and black glitters round, square and bar glitters! The base is a sheer jelly base that is bright pink when cold, and a very sheer - almost clear when warm. It's a really cool looking polish in either color, but I really loved how it looked like I was wearing mostly pink, white and black glitters. This is another pic heavy post in order to show the transition.

My hands are always really warm, so my nails usually showed the warm color of this polish. I really love this look!

Awesome already, right? Well, add cold, and the base color looks a little different.  I actually had to work hard to take these pics. My light is so hot that my nails immediately shifted back to the sheer base color and my camera barely had time to focus!

Even cooler now, right? But I still have one more stage to show you! This is what How I Troll looks like in the transition stage between warm and cold. I think this is a pretty cool look!

I cannot even find words to tell you how much I love this polish! The color shift is just awesome, and I love each of the 3 stages of color. Love!

Formula:
How I Troll bears the awesome Polish TBH Formula - thicker than other polish, yet usable right from the bottle with not thickening during use. I've found that the thicker formula really helps with holding the glitters as well as application.

Application:
Smooth and Silky, I had zero issues with aplying How I Troll. No dragging, balding, gooping, or clumping of glitters. In fact, the only issue I had was with clean-up. Since the base color changes to an almost clear jelly when it gets warm, I had a hard time telling if I had managed to get any polish on my skin! I ended up dunking my fingers in a cup of cold water, which worked perfectly.

I am always impressed by Polish TBH, but How I Troll just blew my mind! If you only own one color changing polish in your lifetime, this should be it. Hands down.

ABC Challenge! Letter "A": Laquerlicious "A Card and Candy"

Good morning Lovelies! Welcome to the first day of the ABC Challenge! In case you haven't seen this challenge before, the ABC Challenge consits of posting a polish whose name, brand (or a style of nail art if you would like) that coincides with the letters of the alphabet. Most people do this all at once, but our group likes to be realistic and low pressure, so we are posting once weekly, on Wednesdays, for this challenge. If you haven't joined in, feel free to leave a comment letting me know you'd like to join in and I'll add you to the list!

Today is the letter "A" (anyone else have a Sesame Street moment there?), and Despite this being the first challenge day, I had a hard time deciding. Until the mail came! Michelle was kind enough to me the Laquerlicious Valentines Day Collection to share with you all, and one of the polishes starts with an A! Talk about luck, since I would've been pouting had I not been able to wear one of these babies immediately.;)

Laquerlicious is one of my fave Indie Brands these days.  Michelle's color combos and formula are top notch. This polish is called "A Card and Candy", and is...well, it's freakin' wow! ACAC (as it will now be called since I am a slacker) is a veritable glitter love-fest of multi-sized Pink, Red, and Purple Hexes, Squares, and bars as well as some teeny tiny purple bar glitter, happily swimming along in a soft pastel pink base. It's truly one of those have-to-see polishes, so let's take a peek!

All photos are 2 coats of A Card and Candy topped with Gelous and HK Girl Top Coat. I photographed this in lower light since brighter lighting washed out the pink base. Only a month or so until DSLR time. Woohoo!

Man! I LOVE this polish! I've mentioned before that I love the soft, pastel bases as opposed to the straight white, but pink!!! I love Pink! Combined with all the glitters, this polish really shines.

Formula:
Once again, Laquerlicious wins. ACAC was usable straight out of the bottle, didn't thicken at all during use, did not glop or goop up, and the glitters weren't all clumped together.

Application:
Dreamy! This girl applied so smoothly for a chunky glitter polish. I had zero dargging, balding, or pesky glitter congregating at the tips. I didn't have to hand place a single glitter, and they all lay down nice and flat. ACAC is also much more opaque than I was expecting, with full opacity at 2 thin coats.  ACAC does dry slightly textured, so I added a coat of Gelous (for protection as well....I'm wearing this as a full mani!) before topcoating. So far wear is excellent - I've been cleaning, changing diapers, and typing all morning and not a single bit of tip wear and no chips.

Laquerlicious Valentines Day Collection is coming soon, so keep your eyes out (I'll post when they're listed)! I'll be posting the other 2 V-Day polishes over the next few days, as well as a St. Patrick's Day polish! Woohoo!

Twenty Seven Polish-Upvotes & Downvotes

Hiya Lovelies! Wow! More of you have joined in for the ABC Challenge! I am so excited! So far the details are as follows:

We start on Wednesday with the letter A. There are no rules. If it starts with A, be it brand name, polish name, color name, name art style, what have you...it's fair game. Since I truly suck with Inlinkz I'm compiling a master list of participants names and URL's that we can cut and paste on each ABC post. If someone wants to take on an Inlinkz thing, let me know and we can do it that way. You just don't want me handling that part cause I will certainly make a mess of it!

I cannot wait to start and see what everyone chooses to do!!!

Right now, I want to share another Twenty Seven Polish with you all. It's no secret that Twenty Seven is one of my very favorite handmade Indie Brands. Lisa is simply brilliant, her polishes are top-notch, and she is sweet as pie to boot. Today I have one of her newer creations, Upvotes & Downvotes (Reddit, anyone?!) to share with you. Upvotes (I'm gonna shorten that name due to my raging tendonitis) is a glorious mix of matte blue and orange shreds, tiny white hexes, and a splash of white fibers in a clear base. I chose to layer this baby over an orange based Red, L'oreal caught red-handed.

I honestly had a hard time choosing from my stash of Twenty Seven's last night. I have a brand new polish called Cotton Candy Bliss that is just incredible, as well as more glitters and a black holo that I still have to share. Yup, I am a Twenty Seven Polish addict and possibly Lisa's biggest fan.:)

But I digress....this is 1 coat of Upvotes & Downvotes over 2 coats of L'oreal Caught Red-Handed, topped with SV:

Isn't that just a beautiful glitter? Love, I tell you!!!

Formula:
What can I say....every single polish that Lisa has made has a wonderful formula. Thick, yet easy to use and never gloppy, and no thickening during use. I've never had to use thinner with any of her polish - all usable straight out of the bottle.

Application:
Superb! The brush delivers the perfect amount of glitter with every stroke, and no fishing for any glitters. No clumping at the tips and no hand placing. Even though this is a chunky glitter, I needed only my regular topcoat to smooth everything out.

Another definite winner from Twenty Seven Polish! I have only wonderful things to say about this Indie Brand.
