Flakie Friday! Sassatinnie Q09

Hello Lovelies! Due to several bad happenings, Flakie Friday is late today. My first FF Manicure decided it had no will to live and was destroyed before I even managed to pour my morning coffee, then my router decided to be a huge pest and refused to work until a few minutes ago. Fun stuff! But, I'm here, and it's before midnight here in NM, so I'm still on time! ;)

Today I have a special polish to share with you. This polish is special to me for several reasons. First, it came to me from Susan from The Subtle Shimmer, my partner in crime on Flakie Fridays, it's a very close match to an awesome Koh flakie that Susan posted awhile back that I have been drooling over ever since, and finally, it says "Super Dolly Fantasy Color" on the bottle, which cracks me up for some reason. What can I say? I love random things like that! We've actually taken to referring to it as "Super Happy Fun Time" around here since we can never actually remember Super Dolly Fantasy Color.

As far as I can ascertain from the 2 polishes that Susan sent from this brand, Sassatinnie is the brand, Super Dolly Fantasy Color is the collection, and the names all start with Q followed by a number. This particular beauty is Sassatinnie Q10, and is a mix of Copper/Gold and Green/Gold/Teal Flakies in a silvery blue shimmer base.

Q10 looks a bit on the purple side in pictures, but IRL it really is a silvery blue. The flakies do not have a very strong color shift, but it's there if you have the right angle and very strong lighting. The copper flakes are very dominant, which is a-ok with me, since I love blue and copper together.

Q10 tends to make me look a bit lobstery, and please forgive my very hastily taken photos. Not my best work! Anyway, this is 3 coats of Q10 topped with HK Girl top Coat:

 

Despite the lobstery skin tone, I loooooove this flakie. The color is just beautiful, and it's a little more subtle than most of my flakies. I do love my in your fave polishes, but I do occasionally crave something a little more toned down.

Q10's formula was very thin, yet it was a dream to work with. It applied smoothly and despite being so very thin, I had no flooding, and minimal streaking. It is on the sheer side, and I did need all 3 coats for opacity. Flakies were abundant and are just as thin as the polish itself. This meant that they lay flat on the nail and I had zero problems wrapping my tips or dealing with stragglers dangling from my free edge.

I am so happy that Susan was kind enough to send this beauty my way. I really do adore it! I fully intend to see what this looks like layered as well.

I did receive another awesome Flakie in the mail today, and cannot wait for more Flakie Fridays! I find myself being drawn to my flakies more often than ever after starting this with Susan, yet I force myself to wait until Friday.

Flakie Friday! Layla Ceramic Effect in The Butterfly Effect

Good morning lovelies! Happy Friday! At least I hope it is. Mom is meeting with the surgeon this afternoon to go over the results of the PET Scan. I'm really hoping they tell us it really is stage 2, and that she an totally beat this. My mom is so very brave. I can tell she's a bit stressed, but otherwise she is facing this with such strength and bravery that it's incredible. That's my mom....she's always been a strong woman. If anyone can beat this, it's her.

Today marks the first post in a new series that I'm participating in with one of my blog crushes, Susan of The Subtle Shimmer. Susan came up with the idea to post a flakie polish every Friday until we run out (which could take awhile since I just see this as a good excuse to get more Flakies!). I adore Flakies, and kept meaning to wear mine, but just never got around to it. This gives me a reason to pull them out of my stash and give them some love!

For my first Flakie Friday I chose Layla Ceramic Effect in CE 52 - Butterfly Effect (does anyone else  think of Ashton Kutcher when they see that name?). Butterfly Effect boasts a purple jelly base with gold/green/teal color shifting flakies. It's also a rumored dupe of my very favorite Flakie of all time - the glorious Nfu-Oh 51. Now that I own both of them, I can tell you that Butterfly Effect is much more opaque than 51, and the base color is darker. The flakies are also more abundant, which is always a good thing! Butterfly Effect is from the Ceramic Effect line, which is supposed to have superior shine without top coat and never need a base coat. Nfu-Oh makes no such claims.They are, however, so very similar that if you don't have 51, this will certainly slay that lemming.

All photos are 2 coats of Butterfly Effect, no top coat.

*Le Sigh*. Gorgeous, isn't she? I knew I would love this polish since I love Nfu-Oh 51 so very much, but I thought I would find it somehow inferior. Not so much.

Formula:
Butterly Effect's formula was positively dreamy. I had expected this to be a tough on the thick and difficult side like 51 is, but was pleaseantly surprised. BE's formula is fairly thin, yet not runny. No thickening during use as well.

Application:
Unlike 51, Butterfly Effect applied as smooth as silk with no dragging or balding. I had expected it to be a bit more difficult, especially since the flakies are more abundant than in 51, but I had no issues at all. Even without top coat, BE was level and dried quickly. It also lives up to the claim that its super shiny without needing topcoat. In fact, had to photograph this in lower light, otherwise the shine created some washed out spots on the pics.

I am definitely impressed with this polish and will definitely be picking up the green version. I found my bottle at Ulta for around $8.

NOTD: Another Untried! Revlon Sparkle APlenty

Good morning lovelies! Happy Friday!! I'm having a pretty good morning so far...it's payday! Which means I've already managed to order more A England (including The Knight Base Coat and The Shield Top Coat, which I plan to review here...I know we're all consantly looking for the best out there, and I've heard these are incredible!) and score some awesome Indie polishes from a blog sale! Woohoo!

Today's NOTD is another from my stash of untrieds. Revlon Sparkle APlenty is from the single shade Runway Report Collection (can you call that a Collection?), and was highly sought after. I managed to snatch it up as soon as the display hit the floor at Wags, and was so excited about it! Then it sat on a shelf just staring at me all dejected-like. Poor thing!

Sparkle APlenty is a dark grey/black (it's debatable) jelly packed with Silver Hex and microglitter, as well as Black Hex and microglitter (If you think it looks familiar, it's a pretty good dupe for OPI Metallic 4 Life from the Nicki Minaj Collection). Despite sounding simple, there's actually alot going on in here (it freaked my camera out!). You can see all of this in the bottle, but it loses it's translation on the nail, both over black and on its own. I chose to wear 2 coats over A England Camelot, my go to Black Creme.

Pretty, right? I'm actually kind of on the fence about this one. I really wish the the Black Glitter was actually visible. I tried this one alone first, and the Black glitter really does fade into the jelly. The only time you can see it, is when a black glitter overlaps a silver glitter. Pretty, but not all the unique.  I was hoping for more oomph.

Formula:
Sparkle Aplenty has a very odd formula. The jelly is fairly runny, but the glitter is so dense that it globs together. This made was very frustrating and made glitter placement a complete pain. The brush was also VERY fluffy, which didn't help.

Application:
 Due to the runny jelly and clumpy glitter, this was not fun to apply. Since I wore this over Black, I ended up just dabbing the brush around in an effort to get the glitter to lay somewhat evenly and flat. It has a tendency to stick up from the nail, which led to alot of poking at it to get it to lay down. The jelly also lends a very greyed out cast when worn over Black, yet looks fairly dark when worn alone. I'm wearing 2 coats here, but this needed a good 3 coats on its own. Dry time was fairly slow, and it dries gritty so if you like things smooth, a good coat of Gelous or Glitter Tamer is in order.

I really wanted to love this, but I'm just not wowed. This is the first time I've picked up a Revlon Glitter and was just "meh" about it. It's just not consistent with their usual quality. Unofortunately, this is going to end up sitting on a shelf, or donated to someone who will love it.

Wet N Wild Fantasy Makers Tombstone Polish in Once Upon A Time

Hello Ladies!

Today I have another Halloween polish to share with you all!  Since I showed you all one of the Tombstone polishes this week, I decided to stick with that theme and show another one.

Once Upon A Time is a blackened jelly with tons of Medium Red Hex and microglitter. If you think you've seen something similar from Wet N Wild, you are correct! Once Upon A Time is a dupe for Spoiled Ants In My Pants, which is the same as Wet N Wild Behind Closed Doors. Yup, same polish, different bottle. However, we all know that I love the Tombstone bottles so having 3 bottles of the same polish in different bottles is ok, right? I'm not a hoarder, I swear! ;)

When I swatched Ants In My Pants, I wore it over black. This time, I decided to try this polish out on its own. Very different result!

This was INCREDIBLY Hard to capture for some reason. The light just caused all sorts of problems. At some angles, the glitter looks almost fiery - Red with glowing orange, but I think that has to do with wearing it alone versus over black. When I've worn this girl's dupes over black, the red is dominant. Go figure.

Details:
1 coat Peel Off Base Coat (Trust me, you don't wanna remove this kind of glitter with remover!)
3 coats Once Upon A Time
1 coat Gelous
1 coat Seche Vite

Despite having worn both Ants In My Pants and Behind Closed Doors, this polish is still gorgeous and worth having multiple bottles. I love that it looks amazing on its own, as well as layered over black. Alone, it looks almost fiery, the glitter shifting from Red to Fiery Orange/Red Depending on the light. Layered Over Black, the red glitter pops. Just a lovely combination either way you wear it.

Formula:
This polish is a bit thick, but that seems to help the glitter stick to the nail. No dragging, balding, running, etc. Not exactly perfect, but not problematic.

Application:
Despite the thickness of this polish and the density of the glitters, this baby was not a PITA to apply. The thickness of the jelly base seemed to help the glitters stay in place on the nail, and the density of the glitter meant no fishing for glitter or needing to dab to make sure the glitter wasn't just in one spot on the nail. However, since this is a bit on the thick side, I do recommend thinner coats to avoid a very thick manicure.  I used 2 coats for more opacity (it is a jelly base after all) but it was just fine with 2.  If you don't like sheer spots though, layer this over a black base. This glitter is also a bit thirsty, so if you like a smooth surface I'd slap on a coat of Gelous and Top Coat. 

Despite this being a re-named re-release of a polish that Wet N Wild has released twice before, it's still a gorgeous polish and another must have for those that are fans of red glitter.  Plus, the Tombstone bottle is just too cool to pass up!

Wet N Wild Fantasy Makers Tombstone Polish in Nail In The Coffin

Hello again Ladies! 2 posts in one day! Will wonders never cease? ;)

I was attempting to organize my overflowing polish cabinet today, when this baby literally jumped out at me. I took that to mean it's time to start showing Halloween polishes.

Wet N Wild releases the Fantasy Makers Tombstone polishes every year around Halloween, and usually I am unable to find them. This year they popped up in a couple places, which made me a happy polish addict since I didn't have to ogle them from afar for once! There are 4 polishes in this mini-collection, Once Upon A Time (Dupe for Spoiled Ants In My Pants), Rest In Pieces (Dupe for Wet N Wild Night Prowl), A Glow in the dark polish whose name seems to have come off of every bottle I've seen so far, and Nail In The Coffin.

Today I am sharing Nail In The Coffin. As far as I can tell, this may be the only polish in this lineup that is not a dupe for another Wet N Wild polish. NITC is a black jelly polish with silver and pumpkin colored microglitter. The glitter in this girl isn't too dense, but it's also not too sparse to see. It's a gorgeous combination - shimmery and glittery but still chic and sexy.  I think I'm in love!

Isn't she gorgeous?  I love how she shines, even in low light (last 2 photos).

I'm a sucker for a glittery black, and this polish is just the right amount of both.  And how about those bottles? I love those tombstone bottles. It's worth picking these up just for the bottles alone!

Formula:
This girl was impressive. Very smooth, silky formula that flowed easily onto the nail. The consistency was perfection as well: not too thick, not too thin and not thickening during use.

Application:
No application issues here! Smooth as silk and opaque in 2 easy peasy coats. It was a bit streaky on the first coat, but I expect that from most polish. NITC evened out perfectly with the second coat. I did not have any dragging, balding, bubbling or other annoyances.

I'm loving this polish like crazy. This girl will not be gathering dust in my polish cabinet, that's for sure! If you can find these, they are certainly worth the whopping $1.99 price tag. I found mine at Ulta, but they did not last long. I still see them at Smith's, but have yet to see them at Walgreens or CVS.

Hard Candy- Beetle (duochrome)

otro día mas de otoño, ahh me encanta como el clima ya no es tan caluroso aunque a veces todavía el sol esta fuerte, y hoy en honor a esta temporada nueva les traigo un esmalte que va muy bien coordinada a ella, el esmalte Beetle es muy conocido en la blogosfera por que es muy similar al famosisimo Space cadet de la colección cosmic fx de orly la ÚNICA diferencia es que todavía puedes encontrar beetle en walmart y space cadet era de edición limitada :(. Pero son completamente  idénticos y hard candy es un poco mas barato.

En cuanto al color bueno!! es HERMOSO!!!!! lo adoro es de mis esmaltes favoritos en mi colección, lo compre hace un año y jamas lo había usado, no se por que así me pasa algunas veces compro esmaltes y los guardo hasta que siento que quiero usarlo jaja, soy rara lo se :p

Beetle es un esmalte duochromo de color cobrizo que al moverlo cambia a dorado con un poco de verde. Para esta foto utilicé dos capas sin top coat.

Black Knight franken polish

uff ahora si van varios días sin subir un post, tengo muchas fotos pero nada de tiempo, el miércoles hice highlights por primera vez!! y salí super cansada de la escuela y hoy me hice unos cuantos rayitos en mi cabello yo sola!! maniana les muestro una foto.
Hace mas o menos 4 dias hice un experimento con una receta que vi en chalkboard nails sobre como hacer un esmalte parecido a ''black knight'' de la marca butter london el cual es hermoso! me muero de ganas de comprarlo pero como no se si todavia lo venden tendre que esperar unos meses para ir a una tienda ulta.

Ya habia intentado hacer esta mezcla npero no me gusto, ahora la volvi a hacer con otro esmalte de base de diferente marca y creo que ahora por lo menos se parece mas y se ve mas lindo :D

Materiales: base esmalte negro de preferencia con glitter plateado muy finito, esmalte de wet n wild-spareked y esmalte de kleancolors- vegas night.

OPI Amazing Spiderman Collection: Just Spotted The Lizard

Hi ladies! Just a quick post today since it's busy busy in my world today.

Today I have OPI Just Spotted The Lizard to share with you. I wanted this polish desperately since it's a perfect dupe for Chanel Peridot and I cannot bring myself to spend the money on the Chanel polish. I just can't. Not when I can grab a dupe for much less, or spend that $20 on an amazing Nfu Oh or an Illamasqua. Anyway, when this came out I ran to Ulta to snatch one up. Unfortunately for me, the full size bottles were sold out, so my only option was a mini. :(

I love the colors in this polish, but it just doesn't look good on me. At least not by itself. I did play with it over black for use in a tape mani, and that looked awesome. I plan on picking up the full sized bottle for that reason alone. Well, that and the gold to green to teal multichrome flash!

I did have some issues with this polish, but I think it just didn't like my base coat, or maybe it's the SV. Either way I had some shrinkage/lifting around the cuticle line, so I had to clean that up before taking pics. Unfortunately that means my gap at the cuticle is HUGE, which makes me sad and hesitant to post these! My need to show off this color won out though, so here they are.  Please excuse the random bottles I'm holding. The mini bottle is way too small for pics!

Details:
1 coat Seche Recondition
1 coat Nail Tek II Intensive Therapy
3 coats OPI Just Spotted The Lizard
1 coat Seche Vite

I have to say, this polish is just gorgeous. It may not look great on me, but I love the foily finish and amazing duochrome.  <3!

Formula:
Perfection. The only issue here is that is prone to obvious brushstrokes, but a light hand and a good top coat will help with that.

Application:
I found that you have to use a light hand with this girl, since she is so prone to visible brushstrokes. She's also a bit on the sheer side. I used 3 thin coats, but you may be able to get away with 2 medium coats. I would suggest thinner coats since she is so brushstroke-y and I also had some issues with lifting at the cuticle which I think thicker coats would intensify. Again, I can't knock the polish since I think it has to do with my base coat or SV.

I can't wait to do a tape mani with this polish! I do wish it looked better on me, but I can handle using it with other colors for nail art. Next time I plan on using Orly Bonder or CND Stickey to see if that alleviates the lifting at the cuticle line. All in all I really like this girl and if you're looking for Chanel Peridot, this is a great alternative. Spending less means you can buy more polish, am i right? ;)

Perplexingly Naughty! Pic Heavy!

Hi guys! Hope you're all having a decent Monday morning!

Today I have Revlon's Naughty to share with you. This polish was formerly known as Perplex, the dupe for Chanel Paradoxal. When I picked this baby up, I wasn't convinced that I would like it, but as soon as I got it on my nails I was blown away! I've seen this described as Taupe with purple shimmer, but it really seems more grey to me. I stared at it in every possible light for 2 days, and I still say grey! Either way, this polish is freaking amazing and I must find a backup bottle ASAP. But enough talk, let's get to the pics! (Please forgive the cuticles - since I haven't been obsessing over them and doing bad things to them, they've started to get a little ragged about 2 days before I use my cuticle remover. And my cuticle balm tends to make them look a little orange. I may break down and order some Lush Lemony Flutter, since I've hear that is like miracle cuticle cream. It's cold here and my skin is so sensitive that it dries out immediately. It's like no amount of moisture is helping at all right now! So frustrating! Suggestions are very welcome. My cuticles want your help!)

Isn't she OMG gorgeous?? I can't begin to tell you how in love I am with this polish. Formula was perfection as well; no streaking, dragging, bald spots, etc. It was opaque on the first coat, but 2 coats is sheer perfection. I wore this for 2 days and had no tip wear or chipping. I'm telling ya, this polish is freakin' perfection! I really wonder how it compares to Chanel Paradoxal, however I just can't bring myself to spend that much on polish without feeling incredibly guilty.  Naughty/Perplex is a must have IMHO, so if you don't have it, run!!! Run now and find it!!! I passed it up several times before I broke down and brought it home, and I'm so glad I picked it up. I think this is my number one must have for this season. What's yours?
