Hello Lovelies! Happy Thursday! My state tax refund came in today so I am in a fabulous mood! It's time do shop for some FNUG Holos! I do wish it had been the Federal Refund, since that is the larger chunk, but this gives me a bit of money to play with after I pay some bills. Some days I love the IRS.
Today I have an absolutely incredible polish to share with you. If you aren't familiar with Mara of Mara In Polishland, Go follow her and read her blog right away! Not only is Mara one of my favorite bloggers, but she is just the sweetest person. She reminds me of Adina from A-England - they both have nothing but nice things to say and are so down to earth and easy to talk to. Mara is also the creator of White Owl Lacquers, a brand new Indie Polish line.
I'll be honest with you, when Mara asked me to review her polish I had a huge fangirl moment and spent a good hour jumping up and down and squeeing like a dork. I'm deeply honored and still in awe that she asked *me*! It was incredibly hard to pick one polish to start off with, but Kittens In Teacups kept calling my name. I've just recently re-kindled my love affair with white based glitters, so I had to share a white based polish first. And I love pink and black. Plus, you know, Kittens. It has kittens in the name. Noone can resist kittens.
Kittens In Teacups is from White Owl Lacquers' very first collection, "After All This Time", which was inspired by Harry Potter (how awesome is that!?). Kittens In Teacups, as you may have guessed, is inspired by Colorful, Vicious, witchy Professor Umbridge. I'm sure you all remember her Kittens In Teacups that decorate her room! KIT, the polish, is a perfect representation of its imspiration. A sheer, milky white jelly speckled with black square and matte pink hex glitters, this polish SCREAMS Professor Umbridge!
All photos are 3 coats of Kittens In Teacups topped with HK Girl Top Coat:
I adore how beautiful and delicate this polish is. Pink and Black are one of my fave combos, and I really love how they look mixed into the White jelly.
Formula:
As is standard fare with Indie Polish, Kittens In Teacups has a thick, yet easy to use formula. No thickening during use, no glopping or gooping, and no clumpy glitters here.
Application:
At first I was worried that I wouldn't be able to grab enough glitter, since alot of the glitters had settled into the side of the bottle during shipping. After a good shake and keeping the bottle upside down before polishing, I had no issues with grabbing glitter at all. The white jelly base is fairly sheer, so you'll need 2-3 coats for opacity, or you can layer this over white. I'm wearing 3 coats here plus topcoat. This baby does not dry gritty, so no need for Gelous of Glitter Food to smooth things out. One of the things I really need to mention is that KIT also seems to self level, which is an awesome bonus!
I am very impressed with Kittens In Teacups and I cannot wait to share the other White Owl Lacquers that are sitting in my swatch bin!
All White Owl Lacquer Creations are 3-Free and Cruelty Free, and can be found via White Owl Lacquers at Big Cartel.com. Full sized bottles will run you $9 each, or you can grab 3 minis for $13.50. Mara has also just released her Valentine's Day Collection, Heightened Emotions, so be sure to check it out!
What do you think of Kittens In Teacups? Doesn't it make you wanna bust out a Harry Potter DVD?
I have more from White Owl Lacquers coming up, as well as Daring Digits, BG Cosmetics, and Laquerlicious so be sure to check back!
Thanks for stopping by and Happy Polishing!
