New FTC regulations for blogger and GFC stuff

Hello lovelies! I do have polish posts on the way, but for now, I want to talk about the new FTC regs and how they effect us.

If you weren't aware, the FTC released new regulations for disclosure in online advertising on 3/12. At first I wasn't sure this really effected us since we all have disclosure policies and (when I remember) add a disclaimer to the end of our posts. According to the new guidelines, this may not be enough to be in compliance. Since I am no expert on the topic, and have no patience for writing out lengthy explanations of legal terms ( I'm no longer married to an attorney so I don't gotta!), I suggest you check out this great post by Beauty and Fashion Tech. She outlines all the relevant changes and explains how we can stay in compliance without stating that products are samples in every other sentence.

As you can see, I chose to add disclosure buttons to the beginning and end of each post so that people can easily find my disclosure policy and I don't have to manually link every time I post. All you have to do is click the buttons! If you want to use these buttons, 15 Minute Beauty has an excellent tutorial on how to install these into your blog and post templates. If you're like me and tend to forget to add such things to your posts, I highly recommend adding the buttons and using your post template to add your disclosure statements so that you're always in compliance.

Now, onto the Google Reader/GFC fiasco....

Yes, Google Reader is going buh-bye on 7/1, however, GFC is a seperate feature and is not going away. It may not be here forever, but it will still be here on 7/1, so no need to stop following KLK and your fave blogs via GFC at the moment. It's always good to follow on alternates just in case, but there's honestly no reason to freak out and stop using GFC at the moment. I do plan on adding a follow by Bloglovin' option soon, but I felt like I needed to address this since I've seen alot of freaking out over GFC. Remember folks, this happens every year or so and until Google expressly states that GFC is going, there's no reason to panic. :)
