Luscious Potion: Elegant Lotus

Good Morning Lovelies! I've been MIA for the past few days, and I apologize for my absence. Yesterday was my daughter's 12th Birthday, and I spent the last few days preparing for the festivities. I spent a lot of time cleaning the heck out of my house since she was going to have a friend over, but unfortunately she couldn't make it. But my house is all sparkly now! Kalli did have a great birthday, and it's always awesome to see her so happy. I still can't believe she is 12! Seems like just yesterday that she was a little itty bitty newborn in my arms. How time flies, right?

Today I have a fairly new Indie Brand to introduce you to, and I am way excited! Luscious Potion is the brainchild of Susan V, who I had the pleasure of getting to know through Instagram. Susan and I are email buddies as well, and she recently asked me to share her pretties with you! I have 11 of her beauties to share with you lovelies, so I figure I'd get started right away. Besides, these polishes are much too gorgeous to not try right away!

The first Luscious Potion polish I have for you is called Elegant Lotus. This absolutely gorgeous polish is from Susan's first collection - a Disney Inspired Collection. That's a pretty big undertaking for a first collection, but let me tell ya - Susan has done it very well!

Elegant Lotus is a blend of Small blue hex glitter, smaller red hex glitters and teal hexes in a soft pink shimmer base. I adore shimmers with glitter, but they're hard to pull off. Elegant Lotus however, is a fabulous blend of sparkly glitter and awesome shimmer. Let's take a peek!

This is 2 coats of Elegant Lotus topped with NPB Glitter Food and top coat:

I. Love. This. Polish! Susan has some amazing polishes, but Elegant Lotus was the first Luscious Potion that I saw on IG, and I fell in love right away. I just had to wear this one first, and I was not let down. It's beautiful in pictures, but IRL? Those glitters are so sparkly and really pop against the pink base. I spent alot of time staring at this, and as far as people noticing my nails while I was out and about, this was one of the most asked about polishes that I have worn.

Elegant Lotus has a lovely formula - Indie thick but not too thick, if you know what I mean. Thick enough to avoid flooding and carry the glitters well, but not so thick as to be problematic. I experienced zero thickening during use and no glitter issues. Application was a cake walk with no dragging or balding and no clumpy glitters. This girl has excellent opacity, barely needing the 2nd coat of polish to be completely opaque. Dry time was lightning quick, even before top coat. Wear was awesome - I wore this for 2 days and had only some minor top wear. Elegant Lotus does dry slightly textured, so I added a coat of Glitter Food for a glassy smooth finish, but that's more of a personal preference than a necessity.

I have to say that Elegant Lotus is highly impressive, especially for being part of Susan's very first collection. This is one of those polishes that I can see myself reaching for again and again, especially when I want something soft, but still eye catching. I'm incredibly excited to try out the rest of her pretties, including her holo thermals!

Holo Goodness from BG Cosmetics - Holy Balls!

 Hiya lovelies! Happy Tuesday! It's been a busy day here at KLK, hence the afternoon post. My daughter needed an updated vaccination today, so we were busy handling that. She was a trooper, although she did squeal. I don't blame her. Despite having 18 tattoos and 14 piercings, I still can't handle shots or blood draws. Not a big fan of needles unless it's on my own terms. 

We did find out that my brother-in-law is going to be ok. He had a stint inserted this morning since he had an artery that was 99% blocked, and he will be going home tomorrow.  Very happy that my mom made him go to the doctor when she did! Mom had her CT Scan this morning and now we have to wait a few days for the results. Keep your fingers crossed that it's something not related to that evil lung cancer. But let's move on to some awesome polish! 

 We all know that I am a huge fan of BG Cosmetics. Definitely no secret there!  I remember when Ketlyn had maybe 10 polishes listed in her store! It's been so awesome to watch BG Cosmetics grow. Ketlyn is always coming up with new Collections, each one more awesome than the last.  Recently she made the jump into Holographics, and let me tell ya...they are amazing. When I first saw the swatches my jaw hit the floor. These holos are incredibly intense and the rainbow is visible in most light. Impressive, right? I've already posted Nocturnal Goddess and the unnamed Green Holo (click the names to go to the original posts), but today I am sharing my very favorite from this collection. 

Holy Balls! is a purple linear holographic polish. I know you're asking yourself "why is that polish called "Holy Balls"!??". Well, when Ketlyn posted the first pics of these polishes, our beloved Sammi (from Glitznglammer) was so astounded she could only say "Holy Balls!!". I'll admit it...I laughed so hard.  I think everyone on that post agreed that Holy Balls! would be a great name for this polish, and so Ketlyn took the plunge and Holy Balls! was born. I know this isn't a name that everyone will find as fabulous as I do..my sense of humor is rather crass and outrageous.  But if you aren't into the name, take a peek at the polish itself. I guarantee you'll catch yourself saying Holy *insert random word here*. 

This is 3 coats of Holy Balls! over Glisten and Glow Stuck on Blu base coat in indirect sunlight. 

 

























Just look at that holo! *swoons* The last photo is a rather blurry shot, but it's a little rainbow on the base of one of my nails as I was packing up my photo equipment. Check out all the colors in there! WOW!!!

Holy Balls! Is absolute holo perfection. The formula is awesome - thicker than your usual holos but not too thick to control. No thickening during use and no dragging or balding, which is always impressive with holos. Application was a breeze - this girl applied so nicely that I seriously could've kept on painting for days. HB dries to a perfectly smooth and super shiny finish as well, so if you choose to skip top coat, you're not missing out one bit. Dry time is very fast as well, although I sandwich my holos anyway. I really don't have a negative thing to say about this polish!

If you're a holo fan, you NEED these. No doubt about it. The Holographics Collection is not yet available, but is scheduled for a May release (I believe - could be earlier). A England Camelot - The Perfect Black Creme

Good Morning all! Happy Friday! I happen to be sick as a dog thanks to some evil virus that attacked my children this week and has now made its evil way into my body. Thankfully I can still sit upright, but I feel like I have the plague or something equally terrible.

Of course, when I am sick, I try to feel better by painting my nails. Usually I'll pick something bright or sparkly to improve my mood, but this time I chose my go to color: Black.

Now, let's talk about Black Polish for a minute. I love black nail polish. I love how it looks great on everyone, how it's dark and edgy yet chic and sexy at the same time. But I'm sure you've all noticed that despite Black being a pretty basic color, it's hard to find a really good black creme. They're either too thick or too thin, too watery or too gloppy, need to thicken up or need a ton of thinner to be usable. I've found some pretty great black cremes out there (Orly Liquid Vinyl, Finger Paints Black Expressionism - which was my go to black for a long time, and the ever popular Wet N Wild Black Creme), but I have finally found my absolutely perfect go-to Black Creme.

I recently posted about A England Perceval, which in my eyes is the perfect Red. I've actually acquired 10 A England polishes based on my experience with Perceval alone. I figured if Perceval was that amazing, Adina's other polishes had to be equally awesome. Well, I was wrong. I broke out Camelot last night, and I have to tell you...it's not amazing....it is ABSOLUTE PERFECTION!

Camelot, creatively named after King Arthur's Court, is the blackest black I have ever seen. It is so deeply pigmented that it looks like my nails are covered in polished Onyx. This kind of ultra saturated color seems standard with A England, which when combined with the quality of these polishes makes them a steal at around $10-14 depending on where you order.

This time around I ordered from Ninja Polish, and I was very impressed with their service and delivery times. A England sells for $10.50/bottle through Ninja Polish, and orders over $50 ship free. I paid an extra $5 for Priority Delivery, and received my order in 6 days. It would've been 5, but my mail person got confused and tried to deliver my polish to my neighbor, who thankfully is honest and didn't open or keep the package. I will certainly be ordering from Ninja Polish again, and if you are into Indie polish, you really should check them out.

But back to Camelot....I'm afraid my new nubs don't do it the justice it deserves, but it still looks beyond amazing. The bubbling on my ring finger (grrr!) is actually from my Seche Vite. It had issues last night. And sorry about my ultra dry skin! There is a lot of hand washing and hand sanitizer up in here! I'm glad I still have skin at this point!

Ahhhhhh....Camelot, how I love thee! There is no way to capture the depth and inkiness of this polish, but trust me, it's there.

Formula:
Camelot's formula is shockingly sweet. Thicker than other polishes, Camelot is easy to control. Despite being a thicker polish, I had no issues with the polish thickening up, becoming gloppy, or bubbling (my Seche Vite was the bubbler!) . It is lovely and buttery smooth.  No strange smells and Big 3 Free.

Application:
Camelot literally glides into the nail like black silk. I had zero issues with pooling, balding, dragging, or streaking. If you are okay with a thicker coat, Camelot is an easy 1 coater. I'm wearing 2 thin coats here. This is literally the only black polish that I have never had to thin out during use, or let stand to thicken up. Even wrapping my tips was delightful!

The bottom line is this: If you love Black Polish, you need Camelot in your arsenal. I fear that my plethora of other black polish is going to be gathering dust - this is my new go-to Black and I'm going to be ordering several back-ups. Trust me, you will not be disappointed. If anything, you'll be snatching up more of Adina's magical polish!
