The Wardrobe Essentials

How many times have you stood in front of your wardrobe with you mind in thousand pieces? "I have nothing to wear," you think to yourself while you tear out hundreds of dresses, pants, blouses and belts. I for one have been in just that situation many many times. For that reason, I have come up with some looks that always look good on me and are comfy, but I still have a long way to go. I know that almost all women need a few essential items in their clothes selection, that guarantee a flawless look without effort. Every time! So today, I will show you a range of pieces that could enhance the quality of your wardrobe. Each piece is chosen thinking of any body shape and age.

The black wrap dress

Dresses: Whiite (Danish label 900dkk) £105, Mango £70, Blue Banana on Amazon £28

The Black wrap dress is an all time favourite. It clings around the womanly shapes, you can tie the belt as you like it (gives room for a little change of body shape), and you can drape the fabric over the tummy so that the drapery disguises the stomach if this area is an issue. You can easily dress this item up and down as you wish and it will make a fabulous show out of you in any occasion.

The Jacket

Leather jacket, Asos £95, Blazer, Asos £65

A woman should own both a leather jacket in a neutral colour and a blazer jacket, either fitted or boyfriend. The fitted blazer works very well for curvy ladies and the boyfriend fit suits slim and petite girls. The leather jacket is spot on as a warm cardigan or just - a jacket. It oozes luxury and rughness and is great with both trousers and lace dresses.

The Jeans

Jeans: Acne "Needle Prospect" £129 (1100dkk) and Diesel "Ronhoir" £90

Jeans are an absolute musthave for your wardrobe! Especially a dark blue demin will be amazing for what ever top you might pair them with. I love skinny jeans although the pros say that they are most flattering for girls with narrow hips. But BeyoncĂ© wears skinny jeans - and so can I. Otherwise I find the bootcut straight jeans the most useable. They even out the silhouette from the hip area and downwards which is just what I need.

The Shoes

Asos "Saucy Kitten court shoe" £30, Friis&Company 450dkk £53,
 Topshop £30

We should all have one pair of black pumps, one pair of nude pumps and some ballarinas in our shoe collection because they are very versatile and styleable.  Even though I am totally pro-budget I have to admit that investing some serious money in basic shoes for your wardrobe might be the best thing you could do. If you have tried on a pair of top quality shoes, you know the difference. Fortunately I can walk tolerably well in most heels, but the expensive ones have more stability. So.. that is just the truth friends...

The Tops

The cashmere cardigan and the all round T-shirt are not just one hit wonders, but like Cinderella's glass shoe.

Cashmere from danish web-site Life-is.dk £129 (1100dkk)
and T-shirt from Urban Outfitters £30

The Accessories

We all need a little extra something to perfect our looks. The best way to express a certain kind of style or mood is by adding a bit of fun to catch the eye in the shape of good accessories. A great watch is key to a sophisticated look, I think. And sunglasses will always always make you soo much more lady like (just think of Jackie O or Holly Golightly) and a pretty necklace or two combined will just make that T-shirt look so much better.

Urban Outfitters £46, Mango £23

Urban Outfitters
£12 (mini camera), £28 (clock)

The Bag

What would you do without a bag for your tissues, pressed powder, lipstick, wallet, pocket mirror, chewing gum, licorice pastils, tini-tiny perfumes, a bottle of water and the sunglasses? I don't know what I would do without my carry-all (which - by the way- is so worn out, that I soon will be embarrassed to take it out for a walk). This one is classy and elegant and the price is manageable:
Mango £50

The Lingerie

Sorry - just a picture

And last but definitely not least - the lingerie. With a set of feminie comfortable lingerie that makes your boobies look amazing (both with and without clothes on top) you will feel all the more prettier, which will show on the way you strutt your stuff. Think Dita von Teese and embrace your sexiness and delight in knowing that you are well dressed inside and out. My Grandmother used to say that you should always wear underwear that would not embarrass you if you were to take off your clothes unexpectedly. By that she most definately did not mean an unexpected romantic situation, but more like a visit to a doctor in a most decent sense. But nevertheless, this advice is certainly worth being cited in any fashion bible.

So ladies.. these are my ideas for the wardrobe essentials that will always make you look spectacular - true classics that each and every one of us should own. What a good excuse for going shopping.
