Hello Ladies! Welcome to Day 4 of the 31 day challenge! Today's Challenge is Green Nails, which is a welcome change after yellow.
I had originally intended to do a comepletely different design for this challenge, but as soon as I applied my base color, I feel head over heels in love and just could not bring myself to cover up so much of it with other greens. And so, I decided on a last minute change. I believe I first saw this take on framed nails on Another Bottle of Polish (if you haven't checked out her blog, you are missing out! Seriously, she has some of the most awesome color combos on earth, and is also Queen of Dotticures!), and thought it was just the coolest idea.
For my base color I used Sinful Colors Leap Flog (purchased before the picture fiasco, and you've all seen my post on my take on that), an absolutely stunning dusty green creme. I didn't think I would love this color as much as I do, but wow! It is simply gorgeous. Then I added the dots around the edges with Sinful Colors Last Chance, one of my fave Forest Greens. It's pretty simple compared to what I usually do for nail art, but I love it. It's no secret that I adore dotticures, and would wear them every day if I could.
I apologize for the load of cuticle balm here. I was wearing 4 coats of glitter (I'll post that soon), and had subjected my poor cuticles to my version of glitter removal (If you haven't tried acetone soaked cotton balls and finger cots, you should! It's faster and not as messy as the foil method, and works better) and my cuticles were sad pandas!
I really love how this came out. My dots are far from perfect, but IRL you can't really tell. I love the color combo, and this kind of dotticure lets the base color shine. Happy! What do you think of Leap Flog?
Our next challenge is blue nails, my fave color. I'm torn between 3 different ideas for that one. Especially since we post on Saturday, and my birthday (I'll be turning 29 again...hahaha! I've been 29 for awhile now. I'll give you brownie points if you can guess my actual age) is Sunday, so the blue challenge may very well end up being my b-day mani. Last year I wore my first Dexter Splatter Mani for my bday, and this year I want something equally as cool. Decisions, decisions!
Don't forget to check out the other Varnished Vixens Green Manis! I can't wait to see what everyone came up with! (These are updated links. Yay!)
