31 Day Challenge (v.2) Day 27: Inspired By Artwork

Morning Lovelies! Happy Election day for those of us in the U.S.! Make sure to get out and vote!! And while you're on Facebook today, why not head on over and Like KLK on Facebook? Today's challenge is "Inspired By Artwork". I've been dreading this challenge since I'm not much of an artist, and the manicure I wanted to attempt require at least a bit of skill.

My favorite Artist is Patrick Nagel. You may know him as the artist that created the album cover for Duran Duran's "Rio". I've loved his work since my sister introduced me to it back when I was around 9 or 10, so naturally I wanted to do something nagel-esque on my nails. Lucky for me the ever awesome Robin Moses has a Nagel Inspired tutorial, and I decided it was worth a shot.

I started with a base of Sally Hansen Celeb City, a silver foil, as my base on everything but my ring finger.  For that nail I used Finger Paints Paper Mache. Then I grabbed my acrylic paints and painted the face on the accent nail. It took several attempts before I had anything even remotely like a face, and despite her lips being a bit large, I'm happy with how she turned out! The straps and buckles on the rest of my nails are acrylic paint as well, and I topped it all off with a good coat of SV. Here is the finished result!

What do you think?? I'm really happy with how this came out! Yeah, I know..her lips are a big big, but lemme tell ya- this was a lot harder than it looks! Robin Moses makes it look so easy! This mani also made me happy that I have nubbins at the moment since it would have been hard to get the face to look right on long nails.
