Good morning loves! Welcome to Day 28 of the 31 day challenge! We're nearing the end quickly, which means I need to get with my ladies and plan the next challenge! Also, I'm still reading all of your blogs, I just have very limited time at the moment so I can't comment as much as I want to. Rest assured I'm still reading though!
Also, thanks to your encouragement, I sent a pic of the Inspired By Artwork Mani to Robin Moses herself. She said it was perfect (it's not, but it made me do the happy dance!) and that she loved it. Thanks for the kind words guys. That's what keeps me going and allows me to keep trying more detailed and intricate nail art!
I'm also very excited about blogging over the next few weeks. Yesterday I received some really awesome polish from Twenty Seven Polish, and you guys have to see these! I'll also have some polish from Glitzology and A England, as well as China Glaze and some Halloween polish I have yet to get to. I'm so excited!
Today's challenge is Inspired By A Flag. This challenge is just odd to me...I would have never thought to take inspiration from a flag. I couldn't find a flag that I was actually inspired by, so I decided to use a flag that's special to my daughter and honor her. For some people this may be a bit over the top, or controversial, and to those people I say: Get over it.
The flag I chose is the Bi-Pride Flag. My daughter, although still fairly young at 11, has always know exactly who she is. I raised her to be true to herself, and also taught her that we are all equal no matter who we choose to love. A few months ago she came to us and told us that she identifies as Bi-Sexual (although truth be told she tends to lean toward girls), and since then she has truly embraced that part of herself. I am a firm believer that sexuality is not a choice - that you're truly born that way, and I'm proud of my daughter for being true to who she is. I fully support her in absolutely everything, so this one is for her.
The Bi-Pride flag is Pink, Purple, and Blue stripes, but I didn't want to do horizontal stripes. I decided that I would use diagonal stripes instead so I broke out my trusty Painter's Tape and went to work. I started witha base of Sinful Colors Outrages, a bright pink creme, then added stripes using Sinful Colors Amethyst and Revlon Colorstay in Indigo Night. Topped it all off with a good coat of SV and done! I'm really digging the result! Not colors I would have chosen to use together, but they make for a really eye catching, fun mani.
My stripes aren't perfectly aligned, but IRL it's not that noticable. Plus I'm pretty sure I'm the only one that even notices that kind of stuff in person! I'm definitely enjoying this manicure, but alas...I have lots of new polish to show you guys so it isn't staying on much longer. :(
Be sure to check out all the flag inspired manis that the Varnished Vixens have come up with today!
