Good morning lovelies! Happy Tuesday! I'll be spending my day working on some gardening, hanging out with the kids and the hubs at my mom's, and hopefully swatching some awesome Indies! First of all, I'd like to ask you to ignore my poor, battered hands. I was a naughty girl and didn't wear gloves while doing landscaping and I was tearing open packages with my bare hands and snagged a couple cuticles on the edges of the boxes so my hands are a bit grumpy. You would think I would learn, right? At least the scratch marks from my new rose bushes are on the back of my hands and you don't have to stare at those. Also, you'll be seeing my Cinderella hand for a bit since my left hand is all scratched up and my nails are shorter on that hand currently since that middle nail had the most damage and is uber short. I'm determined to wear gloves when working in the yard and garden now (even though I detest them since I cant stand my hands being too warm and I always end up with water and soil in them anyway) and I grabbed a letter opener for boxes since I can't seem to open a single one without scraping my cuticles on the rough edges. It's hard to be such a klutz, I tell ya!
I know I said I would have this posted yesterday, but I am quickly learning that my schedule is so insane at the moment that I really can't make any promises as to when I'll have things posted. I'll have a post up daily, I just have no idea when. Yesterday I ended up taking my lunch while she was having her chemo done and I stayed there most of the afternoon just yacking with her. After 38 years and a lot of butting heads and tension between us (I'll be honest - mom and I are both stubborn and I have always been a but of a wild child, which was not to her liking), I finally have the relationship with my mother that I have been longing for. Years of therapy couldn't help me let go of some of the stupid baggage that I held onto so tightly, and my mom does the same thing. Knowing that she has stage 4 incurable lung cancer changed a lot but almost losing her a few weeks ago really jolted my brain. Life is too short to dwell on the past, and as parents we all make mistakes, and do things to protect our children that they will never really understand. It really sucks that it took this much to make me realize that, but I am thankful that I did get to that point. Nowadays I see my mom every day as well as talk to her on the phone several times each day, and we have a blast together. It's incredibly awesome and I am cherishing every last moment.
But hey! Who wants to see some really cool polish?
I was recently given some of the new Sally Hansen Sugar Coat polishes (as well as 4 of the fuzzy coats). I love my friends! I had finally managed to hunt them down but with my bank card being stolen and bills to pay, money is tight. So she grabbed some for me, which made my day. I had a tough time deciding on which one to share first )and how to work all these in with all the Indie's I have to catch up on!), but in the end I decided to go with Lick-O-Rich, the little black dress of textured polishes.
I have to say that I wasn't sure about these babies since the texture is very different from the Milani textures and Zoya Pixie Dust, but I really loved wearing Lick-O-Rich. This one reminds me more of the Nails Inc. leather finish polishes, which is a-ok with me! However, as cool as this polish is, it need some Zazz (8 million bonus points and instant awesome status if you get *that* reference!), so I grabbed these awesome 3mm laser etched studs that I received from KKCenterHK and added a bit o' fun to this mani.
These studs are so cool! I love studs anyway, but these ones have actual etching in them. If you look closely you can see a criss-cross pattern etched into the tops, which I think is just ultra-cool. In fact, I loved this mani so much that I whined about taking it off. Oh, the woes of having too many polishes to share, right? ;)
This is 2 coats of Sally Hansen Sugar Coat in Lick-O-Rich, no top coat, with silver laser etched studs from KKCenterHK:
Love It! These silver studs really stood out - I like shiny things. Hehe!
Does this not remind you of the Nails Inc, Leather finish polish in Black?
The formula on this baby was a bit on the thick side, and got fairly goopy toward the second coat. Nothing a few drops of thinner couldn't handle, and it may have been due to the extreme heat out here. Application was a bit tricky until I added the thinner, then everything evened out nicely.
Check out the etching on those studs! Isn't that just awesome? It's very visible IRL as well, and I had alot of questions on where I got these from. Great twist on studs. These were actually easier to apply than my regular silver studs since the underside is concave and sinks into the polish nicely. Even without topcoat, these stayed in place right until removal. All I did was add the studs immediately after applying my final coat of polish and voila! Instant badass nails!
You can check out these studs (and all the awesome nail art supplies and polish) at KKCenterHK.com. These particular studs are item number N.NAIL-DRN671 or you can click here to go right to them. They come in a package of about 50 studs and sell for $5.28. They are re-usable as well, just pop them off, drop them into some acetone of polish remover for a few minutes, rinse off and they're ready to be used again. Don't forget to use code KimbersKorner at checkout to save 10% off your order. KKCenterHK ships worldwide and shipping is super fast. They've been getting a ton of new nail art stuff, so check it out!
Overall I'm actually really digging these Sugar Coat polishes at the moment and am itching to try the others in between my fabulous Indie babies. My only problem is which color to show next! What do you want to see? Pink, Purple, Green, or blue? Or I could use them in a gradient or some nail art. Let me know and I shall oblige!
I have an awesome new beauty from Catrice to share with you all later today (if all goes as planned. I make no guarantees but it will be posted within the next 24 hours anyway!), and a challenge post tomorrow. Thursday I'll have some Wingdust awesomeness and hopefully more Nail Pattern Boldness goodness. Friday is Flakie Friday as usual and Saturday I'll have some killer photo-chromatic beauties from Live Life Polished, so stick around!
What do you think of the new Sally Hansen Sugar Coat polishes? Yay or Nay?
Thanks for stopping by and Happy Polishing!
