Sally Hansen Lustre Shine: Moonstone!

Hello Ladies!

Today I have Sally Hansen Lustre Shine in Moonstone to share with you. I really wish that I could capture this polish in natural light, but my battery died (again) before I was able to take any natural light pics. Grrr!

Moonstone in it's natural state is a pearly white shimmer with a very slight hint of pink and purple. I chose to swatch this over a dark purple because the duochrome in this girl really only shines when layered over a darker color. It looks awesome over black as well, but I liked how more of the purple was evident over dark purple. The color shift is much more evident IRL, changing from a soft purple, to pink, to mauve, with a little hint of blue in lower lighting. It's a gorgeous polish, although I have to admit I was a bit let down since it's much more opaque and the color shift is much more subtle than I had expected. I'm showing this with one coat of Moonstone layered over Sinful's Mesmerize (two coats kind of washed out some of the duochrome effect).

Please forgive the less than stellar swatches here. I managed to bump my nails a few times and had to change and dress my son while my nails were still wet. Dry time was longer than I had expected, even with a coat of Seche Vite and that worked against me! I also had some bubbling issues with my basecoat today, and I had zero time to redo these. But I am anxious to share this polish with you guys since I know a lot of people were curious about what Moonstone would look like layered. I actually plan to stamp over this until I have time to redo my nails tonight!

Details:
1 coat OPI Nail Envy Matte
2 coats Sinful Mesmerize
1 coat Moonstone
1 coat Seche Vite

Trust me, this polish is goreous. I really wish I hadn't banged up my nails, since that kind of detracts from the colors in the polish, but I think you get the general idea. I used different angles and lighting to capture as many colors as possible. In Natural Light, the duochrome effect is stronger, although most of the time it looks like a silvery lilac color. Overall it's pretty, but I don't see myself wearing it too often. I like the color shift, but I prefer a more in your face kind of duochrome! What can I say, I'm not a subtle kind of girl!

What do you think of Moonstone? Do you plan on buying this one?

Thanks for stopping by and Happy Polishing!
-Kimber
