Layering: Kleancolor Chunky Holo Scarlet over Rimmel Lava Red

Morning Ladies!

Today I have a layering mani to share with you all. I was in the mood for some sparkly red the other day, so I whipped out my Kleancolor Chunky Holo Scarlet. I layered that over Rimmel Lava Red, a vampy, blackened red shimmer which happens to be one of my go to polishes. Unfortunately it's been less than sunny here lately (it's downright gloomy today), so I didn't have any sunlight so show just how spectacular this polish is. Chunky Holo Scarlet is packed full of color shifting glitter in a sheer red base, and in the sunlight really sparkles. The color shift is actually very strong, even in lower lighting.  I will mention that your base color does effect the color shift and overall look of this polish in a huge way. Lighter base polish will bring out the base color and show more of the lighter color shift, and darker base polish will make the golden tones of the glitter pop more. These babies are true chameleons! My camera just could not manage to capture it all! It actually had a hard time focusing on more than one nail at a time since there is so much going on with this girl!

Details:
1 coat OPI Nail Envy Matte
2 coats Rimmel Lava Red
2 coats Chunky Holo Scarlet
1 coat Seche Vite

Wow. I really needed to shape my nails here! My nails grow on an angle so I usually end up with some weird corners that I have to take care of. Now is that time. :/

Despite that, isn't this baby lovely? I took these in lower light to show off the glittery goodness and some of the color shift, but in brighter light (which was sparse. Darn you weather!), this girl really shines. The color shift (gold/green/red and sometimes some teal) is strong and my nails were almost blinding. Awesome!

Formula:
The Chunky Holo Collection tends to be a little on the thick side, but not too thick to work with. I will mention that Kleancolor polishes have a very weird smell, but I didn't notice it much after the first night. I'm sure my obsessive moisturizing may have something to do with that though. I swear all I smell anymore is lotions, creams and balms!

Application:
No issues here. This polish stayed where I put it, the glitter dispersed evenly, dried fairly fast and didn't linger for weeks on my cuticles. Nice! Also, removal was a breeze. No need for foil or peel off base with this!

I can't wait to show off the rest of the Chunky Holos. I have to be in the right mood to wear them, but they are stunning. Conveniently, you can enter to win the entire collection here!

Thanks for dropping by and Happy Polishing!
-Kimber
