Swatch And Review: Sally Hansen Smooth and Perfect Color Care in "Satin"

Hi guys! Hope you're all having a fabulous Black Friday and not getting trampled in stores!

Today I have another swatch from Sally Hansen's new Smooth and Perfect Color Care Line. I swatched her sister color, Air, for you guys last week (that post can be found here ). "Satin" is a gorgeous pastel pink shade, again reminding me of Spring (and Easter Eggs!).  I'm not usually a pastel kind of girl, but as soon as I was able to swatch these babies, I was won over. I really like the colors from this line!

This collection claims to "Hide Ridges with a breathable, porcelain-smooth finish", promote healthier, stronger nails, Allow 20% more oxygen to reach nails, and have a streak free formula. When I swatched Air, I used both a base coat and a top coat, so for this swatch I decided to skip the base and top coat in order to see if this really hides ridges (I have a few pretty good vertical ridges), and to accurately test dry time and shine.  These swatches are 3 thin coats of "Satin":

Isn't this just the perfect pastel pink? Love it!

Much like its sister, Air, Satin has a subtle silvery shimmer, which gives it more depth than my other pastel polishes. Application was pretty smooth, although very streaky on the first 2 coats. I was hoping the third coat would even out the finish, but you can still see some subtle brush strokes. It does need all 3 coats for Opacity, and in person I could still see some VNL, so if you're staunch anti-VNL, 4 coats is where it's at with this girl.  When I swatched Air, I noticed that the finish had these itty bitty pinprick holes. I wasn't sure if it was just me, so I swatched it again with the same results. Then, I read a review of "Dune" from this line over at The Daily Varnish, and same thing! I was anxious to see if Satin would do that as well, since the theory is that's how the extra oxygen reaches the nail. I was pretty surprised when Satin did not have all the pinprick holes! I guess that kills that theory. Honestly I think I would rather have the little pinpricks than the brush marks. It does hold up to it's claim that it hides ridges- I have some vertical ridges that it managed to hide perfectly. I'm used to needing a pretty heavy base coat for my ridges, so this impressed me greatly! Dry time was much longer than I am used to with Sally Hansen. The top layer seemed to dry faster than the rest, producing a wrinkling effect when touched. At 20 minutes my nails were still easily smudged and I was able to leave fingerprint impressions on all but one nail. However, the shine was lovely! I always use Seche Vite, Seche Ultra-V or a gel topcoat, but I could easily wear this without top coat (that is if dry time weren't an issue).  My biggest complaint is the bottle and brush. This line has the wider "pro" brush style, and the neck of the bottle is very thin. In the grand scheme of things that isn't a big deal; just a personal pet peeve.  Overall this polish managed to impress me and I'll be wearing them again.  Now that I've had a chance to test out 2 of them, I plan on picking up the green and coral from this line.  I think this is a great polish for Spring, and would be great for those times I don't have the time to mess with my polish too much. Hopefully I'll be able to swatch "whisper" this week for you guys.

Happy Polishing!
